Please, whatever you do, don’t embarrass yourself in front of him. Oh, I’m so anxious I feel like my heart might burst. I didn’t even get the chance to teach you how to be a homemaker. Are you absolutely sure I can’t stay in the city too?”

“Hey, Cecily,” Fio said. “There’s not much in the way of ingredients, but the kitchen in the barracks has a full set of utensils. Feel free to use whatever you need. My apron’s there too.”

“Cook something for him, at least. Do something wifely.”
