“Was that apology earlier just for show, Zenobia?”

“It wasn’t for show. I meant it sincerely.”

“Even if you did, you still used us.”

“Yes. I admit it,” Zenobia answered without so much as twitching a brow. Her expression gave no hint of what she was truly thinking.

Charlotte let out a sigh. I’ve had enough of this.

They ran into that female knight and the blacksmith in the Independent Trade City and fought them because of a man named Siegfried. They were cajoled by his smooth talk, only to be abandoned by the Empire and forced to seek asylum in the Militant Nation.

And even here, they were used like pawns. She was sick of it.

“If this is how you’re going to play it, then fine. I no longer want asylum in this country.”

Zenobia’s eyes widened.

“Don’t take me lightly,” Charlotte spat. “I am Charlotte Firobisher.
