Lisa cut in sharply. “I don’t want that either.”
Luke groaned. “You too?”
“There’s still so much I need to learn from you.”
“There’s not. I’ve already taught you everything I know about forging. Keep refining your craft and you’ll surpass me soon enough.”
“Then stay and see it happen.”
No. She couldn’t stop her vision from blurring.
“Keep losing things with me from now on, too.”
Luke’s silhouette, though right in front of her, warped. It felt like she might lose sight of him forever. She scrubbed the tears from her right eye with the back of her hand.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask.”
“Huh?”
She lowered her hand, and Luke’s shape had returned.
“Did I put too much burden on you?”
