The Sacred Blacksmith – Part 07
The unexpected visitor was Ewen Benjamin.
He looked like he had run through the rain to get there. Even though he wore a cloak over his head, his bangs and sleeves were soaked, and his shoes and trouser cuffs were caked in mud.
He took a towel from Loretta and spoke before catching his breath.
“I’d like to speak with Lisa, alone.”
“What? Oh, I’ll make some tea, then.”
“No need. I won’t take long.” He turned toward Lisa, eyes serious. “If that’s all right with you.”
Bewildered, Lisa still agreed.
“Loretta. Would you wait in the main house for a bit?”
“O-Okay. I’ll be maintaining my katana, so take your time.”
She left the forge with the sword tucked at her hip, sheathed in a plain, unfinished scabbard. A moment later, a shriek rang out from outside. She’d been caught in the rain.
