Lisa gradually began to lose her sense of time.

Of course, every individual memory remained etched in her heart.

While she drifted apart from old friends, or parted with them in death, she also witnessed many new lives being born, and walked alongside them. Among Cecily and Luke’s descendants were those who took up professions far removed from knights or blacksmiths. Some looked remarkably like their ancestors; others bore no resemblance at all. Thankfully, many chose to become her apprentices.

Lisa loved them all equally, and they in turn admired and loved her.

She also witnessed many deaths. She experienced more painful farewells than she could count, yet remembered them all. Forgetting was never an option.

The timing of those births and deaths, however, began to slip away from her.
