Thin Ice (Light) – Part 03

A yawn. A long stretch. A deep sigh, followed by complete relaxation.

Nearby, a bespectacled young man engrossed in a book, looked up.

“Tired?”

“Yeah. I’ve been feeling really sleepy lately.” Aria blinked away tears and sighed. “Maybe I still haven’t fully recovered from the last battle.”

They were in the underground archives of the government office.

Aria had come with Cecily that morning, but as usual, they’d gone their separate ways. While Cecily handled her duties, Aria had headed here, where Ewen Benjamin, a scholar from the Militant Nation, spent his days poring over records. Lately, she’d been helping him, passing the time while her partner was resting.

The archives, built entirely of stone, were dry and cold. Shelves packed with documents lined the walls, while jewel steel lamps cast a faint glow over the room.

Ewen watched her yawn again, frowning.

“Are you sure you’re all right?”
