The underground archive’s only entrance was a ceiling hatch, accessible by ladder. And from that opening, Luke Ainsworth peered down, hanging upside down with an awkward expression.

“Am I interrupting?”

“N-No,” Ewen denied in a tone that all but confirmed the opposite.

Aria wiped her tears with the back of her hand. “What’s up?”

“Is Cecily here? I’m looking for her.”

“She went to see Patty. She’s probably in the office or the infirmary.” Aria tilted her head. “What’s gotten into you? You never come looking for Cecily.”

“Just some business,” Luke replied curtly.

Aria couldn’t help but wonder what exactly this business was. Cecily often sought him out, but the reverse? That was a first.

“Luke,” Ewen interjected.

“What?”

“You remember the Infernal Blade Eliza Eva, right?”

“Yeah,” Luke replied from above, making no move to climb down.

“She was created by reforging two Infernal Blades into one.
