Trial 2 – Part 04

They followed the mountain path used by the Tatara workshop’s craftsmen and soon emerged into a clearing. Buildings with chimneys stood clustered together, black smoke billowing from nearly all of them. This was one of several workshops near the volcano, the Fifth Tatara Workshop.

A crowd was gathered near the buildings, around a dozen knights and several workers dressed in smithing gear. The knights were a mix of members from the Second and Third District Knight Guards. The workers were mostly burly men.

Leading them were a huge, bald man and an older gentleman—Hannibal Quasar, the captain of the Third District Knight Guard, and Stanley Goldberg, the captain of the Second District. They were addressing the group, explaining the upcoming operation.

They had just finished briefing. As the knights and workers dispersed for a break, Cecily and the others wove through the crowd toward Hannibal.
