“This shape… It’s a chokutō, isn’t it? It is, right?!” Ewen turned to Luke, breathing heavily. “If this is the real Sacred Sword, then your theory was right!”

Most of the weapons forged by past blacksmiths had curved blades. In contrast, though far rarer, there existed swords with straight blades. These were known as chokutō.

Chokutō excelled not at cutting, but at thrusting, and by extension, piercing. Luke had reasoned that this quality and their historical use in rituals made them ideal for sealing. Thus, the Sacred Sword must be a chokutō.

The sword before them was exactly as he had envisioned. Ewen was understandably excited, but Luke, in contrast, was impassive.
