And I’m still sane.
Laughter welled up from deep in his gut. Luke nearly burst out laughing. He couldn’t hold back a quiet chuckle, which sent pain rippling through his wounds. The sound blurred between laughter and groans.
Looks like I can still fight.
He drew the chokutō at his waist in a reverse grip and used it as a cane to stand.
His heart, which had briefly calmed, was racing again. But this time, it wasn’t trying to break him. It was like a pump, sending vitality coursing through his veins. He felt impossibly light. Some unknown force filled him, making him forget the weight of the swords on his back. His exhaustion vanished, swept away by an intense exhilaration.
His vision was clear. But strangely, though it had to be a trick of the eye, his malnourished arms—worn thin from their recent awful diet—seemed to have regained
