Trial – Part 04

Since their exploration of the volcano was an unauthorized decision, no one knew they were inside, let alone that they were trapped. With no hope for an early rescue, they had no choice but to find their own way out.

Ewen had prepared some provisions for the expedition. Until they made it out, they would have to survive on those.

Observing Valbanill was no longer an option. The only thing that mattered now was survival.

With the word endurance, their next course of action became clear. Ewen swallowed his uncertainty along with his saliva, then set his jaw. He took off his overstuffed pack and began laying out its contents on the ground for Luke to see.

First, he pulled out an assortment of jewel steel—varying in shape and size—each with a different purpose: preventing Aetherial sickness, medical treatment, providing light, combat. Others had uses that weren’t immediately apparent.
