Unbeatable – Part 10

Luke drifted in a hazy world.

He understood he’d been captured by the enemy. His consciousness remained clouded, his mind swaying with the carriage’s vibrations, caught in a strange sensation of floating within a perpetual dream.

His body, however, felt like lead. Unable to move even a finger, he could do nothing but lie there.

His senses floated untethered, and his dwindling life flickered like a candle in the wind.

So, this is it, huh? he thought.

Three years ago, he’d survived by sacrificing his father and childhood friend. Sometimes, he wondered what they thought of that. If an afterlife existed, how did they reflect on their choice to save him, even at the cost of their lives?

Now that he faced the same situation, he thought he finally understood.

Not so bad, really.
