Valbanill 2 – Part 20

Before the final battle, Hannibal delivered a brief speech.

“Every last one of you, survive.”

“No one is allowed to die. “

“Win. Survive. That’s all.”

There were words missing from this speech, whether by oversight or on purpose.

Everyone survives, except me.

The fight surpassed the realm of human versus human combat.

A single swing of a sword made the air howl. When a blow aimed at the skull was blocked, the recoil drove one’s feet deep into the ground. Cracks split across the volcanic slope like spiderwebs. The pressure from their blades tore skin open, adding streaks of red to the ashen mist. Smoke, not just sparks, burst from their clashing blades, and steel rang again and again like a bell tolling through the battlefield.

They had made a verbal agreement beforehand that no one else would interfere, but even without it, no ordinary person could hope
