The voice was transmitted using a Prayer Pact. Specialized jewel steel and ritual arrays had been set up all over the volcano to allow swift communication between bases in emergencies.

The speaker sounded panicked, and heavy static distorted the transmission. Still, a few key words were clear.

“Captain Quasar… is down. Siegfried Housman… is heading towards the volcano. Someone stop him, please.”

Cecily, frozen, snapped back to her senses.
