Volcano – Part 04

“I’m coming with you.”

Luke Ainsworth couldn’t back down.

His throat was parched. The moment he said the words, cold sweat ran down his back, and his legs, planted firmly on the ground, started shaking. He even felt a bit dizzy.

Ewen watched him quietly. “You’re not forcing yourself, are you?”

“Of course I am.” Spitting the words out like this was just him trying to act tough. “But you’re right. I think we’ve reached the point where we have to risk our lives.”

They had come to the stage where they couldn’t clear a path forward otherwise.

“I’m going too. Got it?”

“I won’t stop you. I’ll make sure I find something and bring it back.”

“Don’t throw your life away.”

“You too.”

“Of course.” Luke turned on his heel and jerked his chin. “Follow me.”

He led Ewen off the volcano’s main path to a cave not
