Margrid took her seat at the desk again and called over Rick.
「And with that, all settlements should be complete.」
Rick took care of all the calculations.
I paid the fee for getting the gemstones processed, and while I was at it, I sold off some of my Strange Rock Salt (Holy) and Fighting Bull meat too.
The amount of money I had on hand decreased by quite a lot, but it was still no major issue.
The result was well worth the cost.
It was a bit early, but Yuka treated me to lunch too.
It looked like Mio was away, hunting in the north together with Fiona.
After I finished my meal, I recalled Senki.
I summoned Obsidian and set the Tsavorite stone in the necklace around him.
Well then, now what?
It was a question I had been asking myself for a long time.
With the number of players realising that the caves to the south were a good place to grind levels increasing, the caves were really starting to get crowded.
I could try going to other areas, but I really liked having the Wind Spirit Village as a base.
It was a very convenient place.
But I had a feeling I had to go somewhere else.
I didn’t know how I could properly level-up Nias or Gokame in the Wind Spirit Village.
There were still a lot of new places I wanted to see too.
For the time being, I decided to head towards the mountains.
I had already cleared the event there, but there were still some spots I hadn’t explored yet.
There was also a Relay Portal, so I could explore at my own leisurely pace without worrying.
I had enough supplies on hand to last me a while.
Nice.
Well then, it was time to get going.
I exchanged greetings with Rick, Yuka, and Margrid before excusing myself.
A yet unseen scenery was waiting for me.
What was waiting for me ahead?
I could only go there to find out.
Leaving Heather and Nias, I recalled Obsidian, Loewe, and Gokame.
I summoned Zangetsu, Helix and Rig.
Yeah…
Whether I wanted to have him or not, I had to have Rig on my team.
He was very useful for when it came to horseback battles, after all.
It was more so to keep Nias firm on Zangetsu’s back.
Nias could join in on the fighting after some more level-ups.
Through all this, I still wanted to keep my ambitions high.
For the time being though, I put most of my focus on movement.
There were quite a few other players moving around anyway.
There weren’t many monsters for me to fight in the first place.
I did hunt some raptors on the way, but I mainly just kept going.
My stash of Ancient Stones was growing again.
I soon reached the cave with the skeletons, and passed through it to the Forest Maze.
There were a lot of players there.
Muu…
No matter where I looked, there would be a lot of players, huh.
I mean, it was a good thing for the game as a whole.
But it was getting too crowded for me to hunt at my own pace.
It was honestly annoying.
To pass through to the mountain range, I would have to first climb up the wall of ivies.
As expected, there weren’t as many players as before climbing the giant ivy.
There weren’t as many of them, but it was still a fair number.
I had to change my Summon Monster team.
I recalled Zangetsu and Nias.
Recalling Nias was very tough, but I had to restrain myself.
I couldn’t make Nias climb a mountain just yet.
I summoned Obsidian and Creep.
Looking at the Wide-area Map, it looked like a short distance to climb…
But no matter how short the distance looked, the mountains still made it a long trip.
There was nothing I could do about that.
Creep could easily slip between all the branches, easily making his way upwards.
Rig transformed into a shape similar to Creep, and did the same.
The two of them looked like fish after being first thrown back into the water.
Helix, Obsidian, and Heather all flew upwards, avoiding the wall of Ivy entirely.
I was the one on my team having the worst time.
Yeah…
But there was nothing I could do but do my best and climb!
I could leave the enemy monsters to my Summon Monsters.
There were frogs, snakes, and slugs on the wall, but I completely ignored them as I climbed the wall, letting my Summon Monsters take care of them all.
I was rushing it a lot more than usual.
The sun was already starting to set.
Once I got over the wall and to a more proper hike, it would probably already be night-time.
I wanted to get as far as I could while the sun was still out.
The time was 6:30 PM.
I finally made it over the wall of ivies.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a party of players in an Instant Portal watching the sunset.
I guess I could do the same, and eat a meal too.
I recalled Creep.
I summoned Bunraku and let him prepare me dinner.
It was a beautiful sunset sky indeed.
While I was relaxing, I decided to use the Strange Stones I got to make some poison antidotes from the powder, which I put in my《Item Box》.
After that, I could only excavate one Ancient Stone before dinner was ready. I got an Amber stone from it.
Yep.
While I was watching the sunset and enjoying my meal, I noticed that the party from earlier was already getting back to fighting.
They were fighting against a Blitz.
It seemed like they were struggling to keep up with its speed, but they somehow managed to take it down.
As they got together to collect the item drops, I overheard them talk about the Earth Spirit Shrine in the N1W1 map.
Soon, they headed off to do a night-time march to the place.
Do watch out for the Kobolds, guys.
Oops. Almost forgot.
I finished my meal and got up to keep going on my own journey.
It was going to involve some night-time marching too, but I had a few Summon Monsters I could trust with scouting at night.
I recalled Helix and summoned Jean.
I recalled Bunraku and summoned Senki.
I thought about it for a bit, but I eventually decided to keep Rig in my team.
I could use him as an insulation layer, making for a nice winter coat.
Heather slipped into the warm gap between me and Rig.
Yeah…
I didn’t mind that.
I took out my Enraged Pickaxe and my Black Rope.
I put back my Staff of Torture into my《Item Box》.
My equipment was just simple hiking equipment.
Well then, let’s get going.
I already knew that the monsters on the mountains could be quite dangerous.
But on top of that, the mountains at night were just generally scary.
Even the howling wind could strike fear.
A single misplaced step, and it would be very easy for me to slip, after all.
I did have the Spacetime Magic spell Levitation, but that wasn’t much of a comfort.
The idea of falling was still very scary.
The Snow Leopards were scary.
I didn’t have much of a foothold on the mountains, but the Snow Leopards ambushed me anyway.
I was on the verge of getting my throat ripped out, but at the last second, I restrained the attacking Snow Leopard with my Black Rope.
It was very scary.
The Blitz were scary too.
Without worrying about falling off the cliff themselves, they launched themselves at me.
Their horns were about to pierce my abdomen, but in the last moment, I tied them down with my Black Rope too.
Scary, scary.
It was unbearably scary.
Come on, you guys! Keep attacking me!
I actually considered using Call Monster, but then I remembered what I came to do, and kept going.
My head was starting to fill with contradictions.
It looked like climbing a mountain at night was a bad idea after all.
There was still a long distance to the Relay Portal.
On top of that, it was already 11 pm.
Below the last cliff to the Relay Portal, I decided to set up an Instant Portal to log out for the night.
If I got back early, I could maybe see the sunrise at the top of the cliff?
No that was probably also too unreasonable of a goal.
I wanted to go at my usual pace.
