Author’s note:

Chapter 200 will be a summary of the story and of all the Summon Monsters up to chapter 199.

You can skip reading it if you want since it doesn’t matter greatly to the main story.

I logged in.

Alright, time to fight more Bifrost Guards.

No no no no!

What kind of strange routine had I gotten myself into…

I had to take a break from time to time too.

The time was 5:30 am.

I felt bad for Bunraku, but I decided to just have Portable Food and water for breakfast.

Well then.

What was there to do for today?

I wanted to see my vampire Telomere fight.

But before that, I would probably have to organise Telomere’s equipment.

I wanted to see more of Shishiku’s full potential too.

Well in any case, I could start my day by summoning my two Fusion Summon Monsters.

I had a lot of new Summon Monster friends too.

Couturier the Giant Bee.

Denier the Big Spider.

Strand the Sea Snake.

Ligand the Bat.

It would be good to level them up, but it would also be dangerous to have them as my three other active Summon Monsters.

The drop in fighting power would probably be too significant…

I could have one of them though.

I summoned Strand.

After adding Senki as a front-line fighter, I felt a lot safer about moving forward.

I also summoned Nias.

In the front would be Senki and Shishiku.

I got Nias and Telomere to fight in the rear.

I let Strand take on the role of watching the flanks.

I was feeling somewhat uneasy about Strand’s ability to act as a scout.

Looking at Shishiku’s skills, I would actually expect him to function a lot better as a scout.

But as long as I had【Call Monster】, my flanks would probably be more or less safe.

Of course, I would have to be sure to use strengthening spells as an insurance.

Yep. That would be a good idea.

I was ready to head out.

I started backtracking towards the entrance to the cave.

What was my goal?

The next map.

What was waiting for me in the snowy fields on the horizon?

I wanted to see for myself.

It was a bit early, but after I finished eating a few pieces of Portable Food with plenty of water, I got going.

How was my situation after that?

I managed to run into a fight against a Wendigo.

No, more precisely, three of them.

One of them was being strangled by my Black Rope.

I was just watching my Summon Monster fight the other two.

Yeah. It was quite an easy fight.

Shishiku and Telomere just did whatever they wanted to do.

With Senki added in there, it was turning into quite the brawl.

It just looked like a free-for-all between a horde of monsters.

I knew the Wendigo’s were losing, but if an outsider were to look at the situation, I doubt they would be able to come to the same conclusion.

Anyway, what was Telomere actually doing?

She was beating a Wendigo over the head with her Khakkhara while Senki was holding it down.

But something felt different.

Telomere had taken some damage, probably from the Wendigo’s cold air attacks.

But suddenly, Telomere bit down into the Wendigo while it was on the ground, and her HP bar rapidly recovered.

It wasn’t just her HP bar, but her MP bar too.

What is this?

What kind of terrifying ability did I just witness!?

Even before that, Telomere was showing off some of her flashy special abilities too, but that was definitely the scariest thing she did yet.

Telomere had three attributes.

She would beat up the Wendigo’s with little chunks of flame, followed by arrows of darkness, and then chop up what was left using blades of wind.

It was certainly very flashy.

It was almost like Telomere was trying to figure out which of her attacks were the most effective.

She wasn’t just using her Special Skills, but her Khakkhara and her bite too…

It was quite an amazing sight.

The results were terrifying.

After just one fight, all the damage Telomere took was completely recovered. Her HP bar was completely full.

Telomere’s MP bar took a lot of damage after using all those Special Skills, but after the battle, her MP bar was actually looking good.

It was terrifying.

I was thinking of using support spells on her, but it didn’t look like that would be necessary.

I had managed to spectacularly delude myself.

I thought having to go against three Wendigos would be quite scary.

But they easily went down one by one.

How was Telomere doing?

She was joyfully licking the blood of the Wendigos from her lips.

After she was done with that, she then slowly started licking up the blood dripping from her hand and her Khakkhara.

Her expression looked dangerous.

It was a face of ecstasy.

Oh no, that’s scary.

It was really scary!

On the way out, I also encountered a swarm of Rudy Bats.

It was quite a big swarm too.

But Telomere played a big role in that fight too.

But Shishiku was the one who really took the stage.

I finally got to see his【Breath】attack.

It was an amazing attack to witness.

The bats were bathed in flames and dropped down dead one by one.

From the rear, Nias shot out needles of water, and Telomere cut down multiple bats with each blade of wind.

There was no close-range fighting needed.

But even then, almost all the bats were taken out instantly.

Of the few that remained, most were lying on the ground, moments away from death.

Hey hey hey hey!

What about my opportunity to contribute?

But I noticed that on Shishiku’s green marker was another small marker of a colour that I had never seen before.

It was a white marker.

I focused on it and read the explanation that appeared.

“Breath attack on cooldown,” is what it said.

Shishiku, do me a favour and leave the breath attack as a trump card, alright!

You don’t have to go overkill, using all your best attacks on bats!

But soon, I ran into another problem.

I forgot that there was a part of the cave that was constantly flooded.

The underground lake.

Yeah.

I had a feeling Shishiku wouldn’t be able to swim.

I recalled Loewe being against getting wet, even if he could stay afloat in the shallow waters.

Telomere didn’t look like a big fan of the water either.

There was nothing else I could do…

Wait! Didn’t I have a full set of aquatic Summon Monsters?

I summoned Strand the Sea Snake.

I first checked out the situation using【Call Monster】.

Yeah.

The Magic Waterweeds were back.

But not even half as many as the first time I arrived on the other side.

Huh. I didn’t expect that but I guess it made sense.

Would this be an opportunity for me?

While it would take some time for my Summon Monsters to get rid of them, they could gain some experience while they did it.

Oops. Almost forgot.

I had to change my Summon Monster team.

I recalled Senki, Shishiku, and Telomere.

I summoned Rig, Gokame, and Taylor.

It was time for some weeding work.

The work of getting rid of all the Magic Waterweeds proceeded smoothly.

With Strand contributing, my ability to fight underwater was definitely a lot better.

He could freely move between the vines that the Magic Waterweeds shot at him, dodging them all.

After getting close enough to the main body of the Magic Waterweeds, he could deliver a solid attack to the roots, taking them down.

It wasn’t impossible, or unreasonable.

It wasn’t even a particularly reckless strategy.

But he was brave enough to attack the Magic Waterweeds, monsters that were above him level-wise.

And Strand did so very gracefully, and with good success.

No, I was just very incompetent in the water.

Maybe making those simple comparisons all the time wasn’t a good idea.

《Summon Monster『Strand』Level Up! 》

《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Right when I was about to get ready to dive through the underground lake, Strand levelled up.

But as expected…

These level-ups were coming earlier and earlier!

But to be fair, I wasn’t going to complain about it either.

The stat that went up with the level-up was VIT.

I put another point into INT.

Strand Sea Snake Lv1→Lv2(↑1)

DEX 10

AGI 12

INT 8(↑1)

STR 12

VIT 19(↑1)

SPI 9

Skills:

Bite Wrap Aquatic Heat Detection Conceal Poison

That reminded me of something…

I could swim through the underground lake quiet easily!

I had a feeling that the time for which I could hold my breath was getting better.

I was also grateful that I could confirm a lot of different things about my new Summon Monster Strand.

Strand looked very comfortable, moving about in the water.

Even on the ground, he looked like he was able to move around without difficulty.

Although, I definitely remembered Creep being a lot more flexible on land.

I managed to reach the opposite shore.

It was probably a good time for a break.

But no, I had to keep going. I quickly re-equipped all my equipment and kept going.

The next map was calling.
