But I decided to wait until nightfall to do it.

I just had to reflect on my mistakes, to make sure I wouldn’t repeat them in the future.

The monsters’ bodies disappeared one by one.
As expected, they didn’t have any item drops.
It would be cool if they could drop something once in a while…

「What are our losses?」

『None of the Summoners died, but we may have lost a few Summon Monsters, and some of us are under abnormal status conditions too.』

『I just confirmed it! No deaths among out Summon Monsters!』

The report was swift.
Even if the stats suggested a complete victory, the damage we took in the fight was quite significant.
It clearly wasn’t an easy fight.
It was a very tough battle, and a hard-won victory.

「Nice. Let’s break up our Union for a bit here and take a break.」

『Um… You’re not planning on logging out?』

「After we take care of distributing all the items, I’m planning on doing some more hunting.」

It looked like neither Konohana nor Haruna had words. They just stared at me with blank looks on their faces.
Adele and Irina were already used to it.
Their faces were completely neutral, almost bored.

It went unexpectedly well.
Haruna had the 【Trade】 skill, making the process a lot easier.

Konohana bought the Fire Bird Wings.
The rest of the Ghost Horse Skins were bought by Adele and Irina.
The meat was split into three equal parts, including myself.

Suruga and Nonomura both looked like they just got themselves a new Summon Monster.
They were slimes.
The two of them both got themselves slimes.
Both of them immediately placed their slimes on top of their horses.
They had expressions of joy on their faces.

「Now our dream of riding together with our girlfriends is going to become a reality!」

「That’s right! We can get all close and personal too, there’s not much space on a horse, after all!」

「Hoohoo!」

「Ehehehehe!」

I acted like I didn’t hear them laugh.
But I knew exactly why they summoned the slimes, even before they mentioned it.
And also…
Konohana and Haruna were already standing behind them.

There were already several tents set up in the Area Portal.
Half of the Summoners in our little company were already logged out.

I decided to go hunting again.
The Union just consisted of me, Adele, and Irina.
Of course, I switched up my team of Summon Monsters again.
I recalled Volff and Shishiku and summoned Goki and Couturier.
My team consisted of Helix, Goki, Senki, Nias, and Couturier.
I had a feeling one of my Summon Monsters would definitely level-up before dinner.
Or at least, that was what I was hoping for.

Adele and Irina changed their teams a little too.
Their teams were clearly designed around intercepting enemy attacks.
Adele went with her Beast Ape E-chan, and Irina went for her Wood Golem Goliath. I hadn’t seen them in a bit, but they were looking to train their Summon Monsters too.
Well, they were both very solid monsters, so they would be perfect to act as our tanks.
It was still a bit dangerous to try fighting the mud Golems, but maybe we could try taking on a Fire Bird?
We had a lot of strengthening spells and less people, which would let us dodge attacks with greater ease.
We could try fighting the Ghost Horses too…
They were very tough monsters to take down, especially in herds, but their item drops were very nice.
Even if we didn’t find much use from the skins, we could still sell them.
The money would be well worth our time.

『Fire Birds!?』

「As long as we have 【Resist Fire】, I have a feeling we can take them on alright. Let’s try and get the jump on one of them.」

『You’re taking this very lightly, aren’t you Keith?』

I respectfully disagree with you there.
At the end of the day, it’s a bird.

Having fought them once, I could confidently say they were quite easy monsters.
As long as we knew what we were getting into and its attack patterns, that is.
Without that information, complete annihilation wasn’t out of the question.
In that sense, the Fire Birds certainly were not monsters I could take very lightly.
Irina had a very good point.

But…
I had a feeling we could overwhelm the Fire Bird in the sky.
We had three hawks, Helix, Ta-chan, and Sky Eye, along with the Giant Bee Couturier.
Adele and Irina could shoot arrows at the Fire Bird too, which could have a nice effect if they hit…
I could also shoot spells at it from the ground.
On top of that, all we really had to do was bring it down to the ground to secure our victory.
We could quickly finish it off that way.

Well, the strategy was very sound, but when we actually put it into practice, we still ended up taking a lot of damage from the area-of-effect fire attacks.

I was very glad I used 【Resist Fire】.
But besides 【Resist Fire】, I felt like the other strengthening spells weren’t actually very necessary.
I still wanted to do some night hunting too.
As much as possible, I would have to conserve my MP bar.
