Chapter 228 Part 1
The Summoner is Going Chapter 228
It was around 7:00 AM when I logged in.
Logging in at such an hour was pretty unusual for me, but it shouldn’t throw any wrenches into my plans for today.
First thing’s first, let’s summon Bunraku and start the cooking ball rolling.
In the meantime, there are some things that I have to decide on.
Mainly, exactly what should I do today?
I guess I killed a pretty decent number of demons yesterday.
And so far, there is no new information about the next event.
Currently I am on the S4 map, with the S5 map being just a little bit to the south from where I currently am.
Should I go west?
Or perhaps east?
Or maybe I should just stay here and grind some more EXP?
Making a decision would certainly be a lot easier if there was any way for me to know if there are still demons in here or not.
Alright, after I finish eating, let’s get a move on from here.
I think I will go west today.
From what I’ve heard, the S4W1 Area Portal has not been conquered.
Alternatively, I can always aim for the S4E1 or S5 map.
But wait, has S3W1 map Area Portal been conquered?
Cause I don’t think it was.
If that’s the case, then maybe I should go and do that after all?
Then again, a map placed 5 squares away from Remut is bound to be a tough place.
Even if I want to aim for the S3W1 map, it would certainly be much safer to go through the S3 map.
No, if the going gets really tough, I could always use return home to instantly jump back to the Grey Forest.
And if I’m going so far anyway, then why shouldn’t I just take the opportunity to have a look at the S4W1 map?
After I finished my breakfast, I’ve sent Bunraku back.
We’ll have to go through the middle of the forest first, but if we focus entirely on moving forward we shouldn’t have any major difficulties.
The current party consists of Volff, Obsidian, Tigris, Ninetails and Gengetsu.
When it comes to Summoned Monsters, my current aim is to level only Gengetsu for the time being.
This aim should be perfectly achievable while we’re moving through the S4 map, where the enemies are all easily manageable.
But when we reach S4W1 map, I’d have to make adjustments to the party depending on the terrain and the enemies we might end up encountering, so maybe it would be wise of me to put the Gengetsu leveling plan on the backburner for now?
Ugh, it’s a damn shame that this game doesn’t have a system that would allow you to gain EXP based on how far you have travelled or how many steps you took.
The first prey we happened upon this morning was a Floating Head, an enemy who literally looked like a giant, severed head.
If my memory serves me right, this particular dude has a chance of dropping gems.
While our first and the most important priority is moving forward, I want to try and collect as many of the as I possibly can.
Anyway, that’s how it is for now.
But I have to say, luck must be on my side today, because the haul was actually pretty sweet!
First 4 Floating Heads we encountered dropped 1 Topaz each.
This is a pretty solid start.
If only my usual luck with Drop Items was like that all the time.
Dear game, can’t you do something to make it be like that from now on?
I’d be forever in your debt if you did.
But if not, then at least keep up the good work with the current drop rate, all right.
For the first time in quite a while, I felt content with how my drop rates were presenting themselves.
I was prepared to curse and shake my fists at the developers if they gave me the shaft again, but I guess it won’t be needed today….
And then it happened.
My fucking bad Drop Item rate routine has made a spectacular anime comeback!
The drops have completely stopped!
Not a single gem could be looted from the Floating Heads anymore!
And not only Tsavorite, which was a rare drop, but Topaz and opal, both common drops as well!
Ohhhhh, now you’ve done it, bitch!
Now I’ll just stay right the fuck here until the drops will start coming my way again!
Now, you might think that I’ve lost control over myself, but please, do not misunderstand.
Despite my rather harsh words, I can still think clearly and assess what is the order of my priorities for today.
Moving forward is my top priority.
The second is increasing Gengetsu’s level.
To make traveling through the forest easier, I can even use Forest Walk.
And finally, the lowest priority on my to-do list: getting gems from Floating Heads.
But for now, this slight detour is acceptable, as it technically does not interfere with my other objectives.
The time is now 10:20 AM.
On the Wide Area Map, we have reached the S4W1 map.
As for the enemies, the main ones are still Floating Heads, but now they are accompanied by Puppet Trees and Kleptomaniac Devil Monkeys.
As you can probably guess, drop rates of items remained as shitty as ever.
The only thing I managed to score was one Topaz, and that was it.
Patience, Keith.
You must be a paragon of patience here.
Show everyone that you are not like all those noobs who go around throwing temper tantrums every time something is not going their way.
If I proceed to the next map, I probably won’t be able to encounter Floating Heads anymore.
But you know what?
There is always a possibility that I might even better items there
Ahh, screw the patience!
Floating Heads, this is my last warning to you!
Either you give me your Drop Items or bring me thy necks!
EVEN IF YOU DON’T HAVE THEM!
Looks like I know what to use my first Call Monster of the day now.
With that, at least some of them are bound to leave some drops behind.
So I will hunt them thoroughly until it will be done!
Man, I can’t even remember when was the last time I got so worked up over something so insignificant.
I know that I shouldn’t think much of it, but I’ll have to make sure to forget about it as soon as I can.
《Summoned Monster 『Gengetsu』 Level Up!》
《Please allocate 1 Bonus Point to increase the value of the statistic of your choosing.》
A Level Up, huh?
Now that’s certainly a cause to rejoice!
The stat which got increased with the Level Up was SPI, so I will balance it out with increasing INT.
Gengetsu Imp Lv6 → Lv7 (↑1)
DEX 5
AGI 21
INT 22 (1)
STR 5
VIT 5
SPI 24 (↑1)
Skills:
Flight Levitation Echolocation Magic resistance [Medium] Increase MP recovery [Small]
Light Attribute Dark Attribute Fire Attribute
But still, achieving only one target instead of two left a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth.
After all, even if Gengetsu Leveled Up, I couldn’t get more items to drop from the Floating Heads.
I just don’t get this game sometimes, you know?
Ah well, I guess it can’t be helped, and it’s not like getting angry about it will change anything.
At the very least, Gengetsu should be on the verge of a Class Change, so that has to amount to something.
The time is now 11:40 AM.
It might be a little early, but let’s have ourselves some lunch.
In the distance, I can already see the landscape of the S4W1 map.
Are those plains? Hills?
Well, I guess we’ll see if for ourselves soon enough.
I expanded the Instant Portal.
I called back Gengetsu, whose MP dropped to about half of its total value, and summoned Bunraku in his stead.
Maybe eating something truly delicious will help me heal my wounded heart and psyche?
Oh yeah, that hit the spot just the way I needed it to!
Bunraku’s rice really has no equal!
My somewhat foul mood improved in an instant, even though it was a simple rice with meat and white bread.
That was exactly what I needed now, and I don’t think that any other dish could have lifted my spirits the way this one did.
I guess it proves that the old saying was right: when you feel down, eating something tasty will truly make you feel better.
Bunraku’s existence is truly lifesaving for me, since I have no culinary skills to speak of at all.
Or to be more direct, my own cooking sucks major ass and balls.
So I am truly thankful to you for being here for me, Bunraku.
Thank you so, so very much.

Error?
The current party consists of Wolf, Obsidian, Tigris, Ninetails and Gengetsu. -> The current party consists of Volff, Obsidian, Tigris, Ninetails, and Gengetsu.
Error?
If only mu usual luck -> If only my usual luck
Thanks
