Chapter 229 Part 2

《Summoned Monster 『Naias』 Level Up!》
《Please allocate 1 Bonus Point to increase the value of the statistic of your choosing.》

Wow, looks like I really got much more EXP than I actually imagined.
But the battle that we went through just now was really tough, so I guess that was only to be expected.

Naias’ stat which grew with the Level Up was INT, so I’ll add another Bonus Point to her VIT.

Naias Mellow Lv3 → Lv4 (↑ 1)
DEX 19
AGI 18
INT 25 (↑ 1)
STR 8
VIT 9 (↑ 1)
SPI 18

Skills:
Two-handed Spear Aquatic Shapeshift Night Vision Curse Magic Water Attribute

Right, that should be all when it come to the post-battle information.
While that last battle wasn’t as bad as it could have been, I cannot say that this was the victory I could gloat about to anyone.
Because not only Senki and Shishiko did not Level Up, they also seem to be under the influence of some negative status effects.
Not to mention that their HP has fallen to about 50% of their maximum values.
For the time being, those two should not be allowed to fight anymore.
And as for myself…
Right now my own MP bar has dropped to about 30% of its total value.
Considering the state we’re in, should we continue to explore?
Cause even though I have a steady supply of Mana Potions, they will only regenerate my lost MP.
They won’t do anything to heal physical exhaustion.
Besides, it would do us good to make a short break to reflect on that battle earlier.

With the enemy of such considerable size, there has to be a more effective method of blocking its movements then casting Pitfall over and over again. Something like using the Prisoner’s Black Rope, or perhaps summoning Denier?
*Sigh*
As I thought.
My main problem is that I simply don’t have enough of a variety of methods that would allow me to restrict the movements of my opponents.
I need to think of a better way to do this, something more ingenious.

I Checked the Area Portal’s name on the Wide Area Map.
Looks like it is called The Ancient Fountain.
The time is now 4:20 PM.
I say that’s just about the right timing to have something to eat.
But I have already decided.

Being too passive won’t do me any good, so I change my monster line-up and aim S3W1 map, just like I originally planned.
I have to travel as far as I can while the sun is still up, you know what I’m saying?

Now then.
Let’s call Senki and Shishiko back.
Hmm, Naias is running low on MP as well, so let’s call her back as well.
Volff and Helix can stay as they are.
Next, I summon Zangetsu, Obsidian and Gengetsu.
And I cannot forget about recovering my own MP with Mana Potion.
We’re going to head north this time.
Let’s travel as far as we can before the sun sets.

This map…
When we finally arrived there, I could see a dinosaur between the trees.
Since it is relatively small and the marker above its head is yellow, I think we can safely ignore it.
By the looks of it, this map is dinosaur themed as well, and I would lie if I told you that it didn’t fill me up with a whole bunch of concerns.

Nevertheless, we have to stay on the move.
While we’re avoiding the Megalosaurus and the others, we’re slowly making our way forward while taking full advantage of Call Monster.
If possible, I’d like to avoid as much hard battles as I possibly can, even if our enemies were to be only Pteranodons.
I chose to move under the guise of shadows and trees, but we’ll see if that strategy will prove to be effective.

The time is now 6:20 PM.
I think it’s high time for me to switch back to moving by riding on Zangetsu’s back.
For the last two hours I’ve done all I could to move as stealthily as possible, but as a result I was still not even close to reaching the boundary of the S3W1 map.
Looks like we’ll have a couple of battles ahead of us.
And although none of the enemies looks to be a Megalosaurus, I cannot say that this is good.

Up until now, while we were on our way I managed to recover about 60% of my total my by using Mana Potions and Zangetsu’s Passive skill.
Now I Think we can finally have a short break and eat something before we proceed any further.

I deployed an Instant Portal.
I call Zangetsu back and Summon Bunraku in his place.
All that sneaking around has made me immensely hungry to be honest, so this is going to be a truly welcomed break.

Currently I was not in the mood for excavating any stones while we waited for the food to cook.
I decided to spend that time by organizing the contents of my《Item Box》.
Just a quick look to see if the surroundings are safe enough… yes they are.
When the meal was finally ready and we began consuming it, I tried to scan the area to see what kind of enemies are around us.
Some distance away there was actually a flock of Megalosaurus!
Around five of them!
I thought it was a unique monster who’s only going to act as a Boss fight for the opening of the Area Portal, but apparently I was mistaken about that.

Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope nope!
I don’t want to have anything to do with them!
If I had such problems with just one of them, then imagine how much I would have to flex to defeat five of them at once!
I mean, Pitfall was barely enough to contain just one of them!

After we finished eating and cleaning, we went forward, encountering a flock of much more manageable opponents along the way.
It was our good old buddy, the bald Pachycephalosaurus.
Encountering them was somewhat of a surprise to me.
I thought that if there were tons of them on the field during the day then we’re not going to see them when the night was slowly but surely approaching.
And looking at how their eyes were glowing with a murderous light, something was telling me that the night was actually their main period of activity.
That only goes to show that I was right the entire time about one thing.
Nights in games are scary! I don’t like them one bit!

Once again I have confirmed our position on the Wide Area Map.
How much longer until we reach S3W1 map?
If I continue to ride on Zangetsu’s back, then it look like we’ll be able to reach it in 10 minutes instead of one hour.
So yeah, it would take much longer if I wanted to continue on foot.
That would be depressing as fuck.

Normally I would have just stayed here and hunt monsters in hope of getting some items out of them, but I don’t think this is going to work here, not when the enemies are the ones that could probably eat us whole, shit us out and then stomp on the remains.
So with that option being out of the picture, I can either log out for today or use Return Home.

But you know?
Now that I think about it, I feel kinda sad that I have started to rely on Mana Potions so much.
I know that without them I probably wouldn’t have been able to get so far, but in the old days when I still didn’t know how to make them I always had to find the way out of tricky situations and hard encounters with nothing but my own strength and quick thinking.
So if you look at it like that, switching to using Mana Potions is kinda like admitting that my own abilities are not enough to get me through them game.

Well, I guess dwelling on it now will yield me nothing, so there’s no use fretting about if for now.
I am where I am now, and that’s that.
Let us move on.
Even if something ends up killing me, the nearest point of Respawn will be in the Gray Forest.
That will still be quite a distance to travel, but at least the city of Remut is not that far away.

Yeah, I’m not running away with my tail between my legs.
This is a simple change of positions.
A strategic withdrawal.
Yes, let’s go with that.
