Chapter 229 Part 3
Okay, so now that I have already ordered a strategic retreat, what will I do about my current party?
Helix and Bunraku are being called back for the time being.
It seems that neither Senki nor Shishiko have recovered from the status ailment they have been struck with, even though it has been approximately two hours since they have been afflicted by it.
Looks like I won’t be able to do anything about it now, so the only option left for me it to leave them be until the abnormal condition goes away on its own.
I’m not happy about it at all, but it can’t be helped.
I summon Teromea.
This guy is at his absolute strongest during the night hours, so I couldn’t have asked for better conditions than the ones I have now.
And then I summoned Tigris next.
No matter what I decide to do next, I have to keep thinking about moving forward.
The current team consists of Volff, Obsidian, Tigris, Teromea and Gengetsu.
With such a combination, I don’t think I’m going to complain about a lack of offensive capabilities.
Alright then, time for another round of enhancing with spells.

Should we stop for a bit to check the situation around us with Call Monster?
No, we do not have the time for that!
From what I managed to catch with my eyes, the monsters around us seem to be gathering into a few small flocks.
Is that something we provoked?
Will we be able to avoid having to do battle against them?
We might be able to do so, albeit barely.
But there was one particularly important thing that I forgot during the heat of the moment.
Call Monster only works for the enemies that the user has already encountered.
It does not work on unrecognized enemies.
So when I looked behind us, alarmed by Volff’s and Obsidian’s warnings, I saw it there.

Battle Position: Air Darkness Attribute
What in the sweet holy Jesus is that?!
Should I even try to engage it?!
Also, how is it possible for it to fly!
It’s just a skeleton! As in, a pile of bones!
How can a pile of bones keep itself sustained in the air?!
As I was mindlessly thinking such useless thoughts, the enemy has launched its attack.
It wanted to pierce me with its beak, but fortunately I managed to avoid it at the last possible second, making deeply raze the ground in the spot where I was standing just a moment ago.
Man, imagine what would have happened to me if that attack actually landed.
Ugh, I don’t even want to think about it.
[True Practiced Spirit!]
Then I immediately selected and executed my next spell.
At the same time, my own flying monsters made their move.
Soon after that, flames began to dance in the darkness of the night sky.
My monsters were locked in fierce combat with the skeletal enemy
… Until they managed to knock it down onto the ground.
That was a chance that I wasn’t going to miss.
[Sanctify Undead!]
Did it work?
It worked, didn’t it?!
It had to work, right?!
A small blue marker appeared next to the usual red marker above the Skeletal Pteranodon’s head, and in the next moment its body began to glow so brightly that it almost seem to be transparent.
And then it was set on fire in its entirety by my purifying spell.
Heh, talk about spontaneous combustion.
As it was burning in purifying flames, Obsidian was ramming into it again and again and again.
And at the same time, Volff and Tigris started biting into its boney wings.
Guys, just don’t go too crazy on the guy or else you might damage your teeth.
Of course, the monster tries to flap its wings furiously to shake them off.
It’s kinda strange though.
Even if it doesn’t have any flesh or skin on its wings, the flaps of its bones still generate gusts of wind.
How mysterious.
And it actually succeeded in throwing Tigris and Volff off itself.
Now now, we absolutely cannot have that!

Before it could stand up and get back into the sky, the branches from my spell entwined themselves around its body and right wing.
There is no denier, but this spell has an effect that is similar to it, so technically it should still work.
Or at least I really, really hope so.
Thankfully, it’s whole body got crushed.
The bones were being cut into tiny pieces, but to my dread and horror, they were beginning to reassemble themselves back into their original shape at a frightening speed.
Now this, it totally troublesome.
Our next series of attacks began with Gengetsu launching his flame attack all the way into the back of the Skeletal Pteranodon’s empty eye sockets while the other three besieged it while fighting off the immense gusts of wind it was throwing at them.
Under such a ferocious assault, the spirits of both humans and ordinary monsters alike would crumble in no time.
But taking this guy down took way more time than it should.
Do I feel dissatisfied?
Maybe a little.
It’s a shame that I couldn’t go wild myself, but I guess being an assist worked out for the better for me this time.
Besides, throughout the entire battle, I was constantly feeling like something was crawling in my skin.
It was the fear of what would have happened if I allowed something as terrifying at that actually engage me in close quarters combat.
Yeah, I’m sure that the reward wouldn’t have been worth the enormous risk I’d taken with such a reckless approach.
Stop thinking about it so much, dude.
It’s fine.
Oh look, that enemy dissipated into nothingness without leaving a single Drop Item behind, just like all the others, once again making me feel like something inside of me was slowly breaking into a million pieces….!
It’s okay Keith, it’s fine.
Just… calm down and be patient.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to go wild, you just have to wait for the right opportunity.

Oh, I must’ve gained quite a lot of EXP for Sprint because of all of that running in the middle of the night we did.
I guess that’s unavoidable.
We did run straight ahead of ourselves while avoiding as much normal battles as we could.
The time is now 7:40 PM.
If we keep up our current pace, we should be able to reach the S3W1 map soon.
When I checked my position on the Wide Area Map, it showed me that we just reached our destination.
It looks like there is no big change in the surrounding terrain.
If anything, then it looks like this area is a little bit more hilly, and that it has more trees in it than a previous one.
But there was one noticeable change.
It became clear when I tried to use Call Monster.
There are no dinosaur enemies anywhere near in sight.
Yup.
Just so we’re clear, I’m not happy that I won’t have to deal with them here!
I didn’t run away from them!
It was a strategic withdrawal so that I could conserve my strength for even greater challenges!
Next time we’ll go there, I will make hunting as much dinosaurs as I possibly can my top priority!
What kind of monsters does S3W1 map really have?
This is a map that is 4 squares away from Remut.
It is likely to be troublesome in terms of difficulty level.
If it is at the same level as the N1W3 map, S1W3 map, and S4 map, it should be possible to proceed with hunting with high chances of getting something good out of it though.
And I think that is what we might want to do for the time being.
