Chapter 233 Part 1
All of us enjoyed the dinner coupled with a nice group chat.
I have no doubt that the battle to activate the Area Portal is going to be fierce one.
Even with my current level of strength I feel like strengthening spell are going to be absolutely necessary, especially now that I’ve began to feel like my arms were finally feeling the fatigue from the non-stop streak of battles we’ve been going through for the past few hours.
With the exception of Hyodor-kun, everyone still had MP to spare.
Luckily for us he still has an aboundance of Mana Potions on him to cover for that.
He darnk two of them, restoring his MP pool to about 70%, so that’s one problem out of the way.
Our next step will involve switching the lineup of our Summoned Monsters in such a way that it will be based around the idea of battling enemies in the middle of the night without much light.
The team I have chosen for myself?
Volff, Jericho, Heather, Shishiko and Teromea.
I think that such a setup will allow be to be prepared for any kind of danger that might come our way.
Hyodor-kun’s team?
An Owl, a Wolf, a Beast Ape and a Fairy.
To be honest, that team is nothing all that impressive, owing it to the fact that none of Hyodor-kun’s monsters had gone through a Class Change yet.
But since he’s come so far with us already, then I want him to keep doing his beast, even if it might not amount to much in the grand scheme of things.
What is Adel’s team?
Forest Tiger, White Wolf, Golden Fox, Owl and Orthros.
Is it just me, or does she really like them cute furries?
I had no idea she could be so overly girly like that.
But in comparison to the others, Orthros is really big, now that I see it up close.
Also, its two heads, two pairs of eyes shining like red gemstones and jet black fur have a distinguished sense of beauty to them.
Plus, it really kinda looks like a lion.
Personally that is not the type of monster I’d enjoy having, but that’s Adel for you, loving all of her Summoned Monsters equally.
What about Irina then?
She has a Wood Golem, a Black Wolf, an Owl, a Pixie and a Nue.
Compared to Adel she has fewer monsters who went through the Class Change, but her overall lineup is more than enough.
Besides, her Wood Golem and Owl are both on the verge of the Class Change, so they will catch up soon enough.
And their stats are nothing to scoff at either.
Although the Nue has a terrifying appearance, it’s actually pretty docile.
It’s even bigger than Shishiko, most likely because it is a Yokai.
And… how should I put it? Looking at it for a prolonged period of time makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable, as if waves of cold sweat were pouring down my back.
In stark contrast, Irina was standing right next to it, stroking one of its legs lightly with a calm smile on her face.
Right now, in this moment, she looked pretty mature to me.
The members of Haruna’s team include a Mystic Eye, Venom Python, Wood Golem and a Mermaid.
Konohana’s lineup consists of a Grey Wolf, Owl, Tiger and a Fairy.
All in all, those two seem to be good at balancing each other out when it comes to the balance of the vanguard and the rear guard.
We are the party of 6 Summoners and twenty seven Summoned Monsters.
We’re not exactly a small group anymore, which is reassuring.
With all of us as we are now, I think that we are going to be able to hold our own even against a moderately strong opponent.
And that is a valuable praise when it comes from someone like me.
Speaking of enemies.
Spinxes, Sphinkses, Mummies, Killer Scorpions…
Am I the only one seeing this, or is there actually a pattern here?
Well yeah, of course it is.
All of those have at least a faint connection to ancient Egypt and its folklore.
So if that assumption of mine is correct, then the enemies which we are going to encounter at the Area Portal are going to be thematically connected to it as well.
Well, it doesn’t matter what kind of enemies we’re going to encounter as long as we’ll be able to defeat them.
All of us activated Sense Magic.
And then I strengthened all of us with my spells.
After we descended down the hill, we have found ourselves at the entrance to some ancient-looking ruins.
Next, we walked forward towards the narrow passage leading inside in order not to waste even a minute of our enhancements.
I also used Gravity Mail and other spells like that to strengthen the monsters of the avant-garde as much as possible.
Unfortunately, Gravity Mail could not be cast on all the members of the avant-garde, so I applied it to some of the monsters from the rear guard instead.
When I was just about finished with casting my spells, the passage we were going through opened up.
It led us to a larger hall.
Or maybe not a hole, but something that looked like the inside of an ancient castle.
But the ground beneath our feet was still like a giant sandbox.
This place… wow.
There sand does not go too high, like say, up to our knees our ankles, but in such quantities moving around it is still going to be difficult.
In the middle of the hall there was a stone staircase, and at the end of it was an altar.
And at the top of that altar.
A human soul was floating in midair.
Oh no.
Has the event begun already?

That event info was quite disturbing, but that is not the most important issue here.
The real problem, is what is going to appear now.

I can see that all of them are classified as Gods, but there are the pieces of information about them that I can’t see even with my 【Identify】skill.
It’s clear as day that those guys are definitely no pushovers.
All of them hold a cane of identical shape, but the most distinguishing features are the masks each of them wears on their faces.
A jackal mask, a crocodile mask, a sheep mask, a bird mask, a cat mask and a scorpion mask.
And there’s more than one opponent this time!
Especially this Sebek guy seemed like a dangerous sort.
His whole body was radiating insane amounts of magical energy.
Then he pointed it towards the ground , and in response, it traveled to a few places towards his feet and began to shine.
Looks like he’s going to summon some monsters of his own!

No matter how you look at it, there is more than thirty of them!

Of course, even with those insane numbers, the only thing I can do here is to give it my best!
Regrets and doubts in face of overwhelming danger are not an option!
I select another spell and then execute it.
What are the weapons that I currently have equipped?
As usual, in my left hand is the Tonfa of Torture.
In my right hand is the Snow Beast’s Mace.
The singing voice of Haruna’s Mermaid echoes beautifully throughout the entire chamber.
It is a song of bravery meant to inspire one’s allies and to infuse their hearts with hope and determination.
So me and my Summoned Monsters ran.
We’re heading straight towards the enemy.
My monsters get to them first.
STR and AGI are everything that we need here.
My monsters will draw the Scorpion’s attention while I will hit the Gods in the rear as hard as I can.
Everything else can be entrusted to Adel and the others.
What? Am I okay with having the Boss’s attention sorely on me alone?
Of course.
I wouldn’t have it any other way!
