「How are you holding up, Adel?」
「All are alive and relatively unharmed, although U-chan has been inflicted with status ailment.」
「How about you, Irina?」
「No problems on my part as well. Moreover, Byakuya and Goliath Leveled Up!」
「For real?! Wow, you did it Irina! Now both of them can go through the Class Change!」
「Looks like Adel-chan also has one more Summoned Monster that can go through the Class Change, right?」
「Now, what should I do with my Fu-chan?」
Adel and Irina were happily frolicking about, excited with the prospect of their monsters changing their classes.
Konohana and Haruna were also cheering themselves quite loudly.
「Hooray! One more Class Change!」
「Two more for me!」
「What should I pick? What should I do?」
Ahh, looks like all four of them have entered Girl Talk mode.
Well, let’s just leave them like that for a while.
Now that the Area Portal has been cleared and unlocked, we don’t have to worry about being attacked by any monsters here.
Hyodor-kun, on the other hand, was in a stark contrast to the rest.
He looked so stunned that he didn’t know what to say.
「How are you holding up? And thanks for the save with that Undine back there. If it wasn’t for that I might have been in a much tighter spot.」
「Don’t mention it. Only one of my monsters has contacted a status ailment, and I’m also a little confused because of so many Level Up notifications coming up all at once.」
「Yeah, when these messages all overlap with one another they can really get all over the place, but you’ll get used to it eventually. Trust me, I’m speaking from personal experience.」
「It’s just that… it’s a first time I’ve experienced something like that. Today is just so amazing that I cannot even find the right words to properly voice all of my thoughts.」

Just from this battle alone he should have obtained a shitload of EXP.
He might also be close to gaining another Class or Profession level, not to mention that a lot of his Summoned Monsters should have gained more than a few levels as well.
His Owl is currently at Lv.7, so it needs just one more little push.
If he were to do some night time hunting he would easily reach the Class Change threshold in no time.
「Keith-san! Look! Look!」
Adel screamed cheerfully towards me.
Damn it girl, would you mind keeping the volume down a couple notches?!
「What’s up?」
「Look! Spectacular, isn’t it?!」
And she proudly pointed towards the Summoned Monsters that were neatly lined up beside her. All of them went through the Class change already.
Adel’s Owl has turned into a Mystic Eye.
Irina’s Owl became a Giant Owl.
And the Wood Golem evolved into a Clay Golem.
Haruna’s own Wood Golem has been turned into a Mad Golem.
Konohana’s Owl is also a Mystic Eye.
And the Tiger has become a Forest Tiger.
Yup.
If only we had this exact lineup earlier, we would have a much easier time capturing the Area Portal.
But even if we could do it faster, I don’t think it would have been all that beneficial to us.
Our battle might have been on the longer side, but thanks to that we managed to obtain quite a bit of levels and EXP.
Goodness gracious, why is it that this world seems to revel in making everything harder for me?
Okay, so now that we have finished our business here and are taking a well-deserved brake, I guess it’s high time to check how this place is actually called.
Looking at the Wide Area Map, this place is supposed to be called The Temple of Dust.
Well, no shit.
Okay, what time is it now?
It’s 7:30 PM.
So the evening has just begun.
I think now would actually be a good time for me to change my lineup.
I call Heather back and summon Gengetsu.
Not yet.

「You bet your sweet bippy I am! Our Union is till in effect, and we have some new monsters to test out, so we can go right now!」
Adel looks like she’s totally fired up.
It’s good that she’s so eager to take her new Summoned Monsters on a test drives, but I hope she won’t let that enthusiasm go into her head too much.
Be that as it may, if she wants to go with me, I’ll gladly welcome her aboard.
After the battle to open the Area Portal Hyodor-kun has less than half of his MP left, but thanks to his Mana Potions he managed to refill it back to almost 100%.
Also, all of us need to switch the monsters that have succumbed to status ailments.
Adel’s White Wolf U-chan was replaced by the Lion Ra-chan.
Hyodor-kun removed his Lion and replaced it with a Bat.
It’s going to be nighttime soon so the strength of the enemy monsters will increase accordingly, but even so our strategy will largely remain unchanged, especially now that we have more Summoned Monster that undergone a Class Change, meaning that our battle potential increased exponentially.
「Keith-san, can I talk to you for a minute?」
「Hm?」
Irina is looking at me with a sulky look on her face.
I wonder what’s wrong?
「It’s about your Fly spell. It’s used completely differently from what the information on the bulletin board was saying.」

What does she mean by that?
The only thing that comes to my mind is the fact that it is indeed strange to to cast spells on multiple targets at once.
No matter how many times I look at it, the spell description says that you can choose.
So you can actually specify who do you want to use it on, right?
「Maybe it’s just that I’m nitpicking, but what if it’s the same for the other spells?」
「Huh?」
Since she pointed that out, I made sure to go through the explanations of some other spells again.
Oh my, how mysterious.
Just like with the Fly spell, you can now specify more than one target for the spell to be used on.
But it’s not unlimited, of course.
Enchantment and Resist type spells can be cast on the entire party.
The same goes for Night Eye, Levitate, Psycho Pods and Gravity Mail.
Naturally, the same principle can be applied to Fly itself.
As a target, you can specify up to three people from the same party or a party that has formed a Union.
Targeting individuals other than that does not seem to be possible.
Although they have a slightly different scope of restrictions, the same can be said about Telepathy, Return Home and Instant Portals.
Change Monster can also be used up to three times a day.
What is going on here?
Were those functions added in an update that I was not aware of?
Or perhaps they were there all along?
But if that was the case, then why didn’t I… oh.
Oh yeah, I didn’t notice those little tidbits because I’m an idiot who picks spells without even bothering to see their descriptions and explanations.
Now that explains a lot.
But that’s not all.
Offense Fall, Defense Fall, Paralyze and Delay.
While they are not spells meant for supporting your allies, it looks like you can also target up to three enemies at once with them if only you stare at them in quick succession.
So you want to tell me that you don’t have to target only individual enemies with them?!
If so, wouldn’t that make those spells an AoE debuff spells?!
On the other hand, here was no change at all to the spells like Force Bullet and AoE attack spells like Fire Storm.
All of the sealing techniques have also remained unchanged.
I haven’t noticed any of that up until now. Not a single thing, not even once.
What a splendid display of stupidity on my side.
I really am the most foolish of the fools to ever grace this game.
If only I paid attention to the spell descriptions sooner, that would have made a lot of my past battles much less complicated than they were.
As such, my own ignorance has caused me to handicap myself without even realizing it!
But why?!
There is one last thing that I have to check.
【Magic Effect Expansion】and【Magic Range Expansion】.
Which one of them?
I tried to verify both of them, and the right one seems to the 【Magic Range Expansion】.
Was that what this spell meant by range?
Now I feel like I’ve been repeatedly kicked in the nutsack over and over again, but I deserve it.
I fully deserve to be swallowed by that overwhelming sense of self-loathing that is washing over me now.
