Chapter 251 Part 1
What did my Summon Monster team look like?
I had Volff, Shishiku, Peptide, Romulus, and Telomere.
Of course, my aim was to train both Peptide and Romulus.
Thinking about it some more, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to train Telomere too.
Telomere was at Level 4, but that number hadn’t changed in a long time.
It was about time for another level-up.
But oh well, that was fine.
What should I go for first? Maybe try to get my third Light Quartz Dagger?
Maybe I could train Telomere first?
Or maybe I could bring Peptide to their level-up first?
All three of them were good options, but none of them could beat the prospect of getting myself an Orthros.
Yep, that would have to be my top priority.
The time was 3:20 pm
I took my first step in getting back to work.
But in my first fight, I somehow managed to get myself a Light Quartz Dagger!
How many times had I already fought the General Kubira!? It felt a bit anticlimactic to have it drop the Light Quartz Dagger so suddenly.
There was no need for Strange Salt (Holy) or Power Water.
Well, there was no need for them, but I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to pick up some items.
The fact that I got one only made me want to get myself another Light Quartz Dagger even more!
But I was getting ahead of myself.
I ended up taking a lot more damage than usual in the fights.
Well, the damage was mostly going to me, and not my Summon Monsters.
That wasn’t a good thing…
I had to calm down a bit.
But I still couldn’t stop my blood from heating up whenever I started a fight.
Well, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing either.
I could use them whenever I wanted to speed up the rate at which I could take down the monsters too, after all.
It wasn’t a very flashy usage, but it had its place.
《Summon Monster『Telomere』Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
The time was just about 6 pm.
And with that, my long journey was finally over.
Finally, Telomere got her level-up.
The stat that went up with Telomere’s level-up was AGI.
I put another point into VIT.
Telomere Vampire Lv4→Lv5(↑1)
DEX 17
AGI 25(↑1)
INT 29
STR 16
VIT 16(↑1)
SPI 21
Skills:
Staff Hammer Buckler Block Evade Flight Shapeshift Conceal
Physical Resistance [Small] Magical Resistance [Small] Self-Repair [Medium] MP Absorption [Small]
Ambush Suck Blood Dark Attribute Fire Attribute Wind Attribute
It was then that I was reminded again of how scary Telomere actually was.
At that point, even though Telomere had been using bullets of flame and blades of wind as much as she could, her MP bar still had a lot of room.
She did so much, but her MP bar was completely fine.
It was really a scary sight.
It was a strength that wasn’t really reflected in just her stat numbers.
It wasn’t that simple.
Well in any case, it was an opportunity to swap out Telomere for another Summon Monster.
Oops. Almost forgot.
Before that, I had to get myself some dinner.
I deployed an Instant Portal.
I recalled Telomere and summoned Bunraku.
The menu was the same thing I had for lunch earlier in the day.
It was a simple stew, but it was still delicious.
While waiting for the food to finish, I didn’t bother working on any menial tasks, instead spending the time thinking about my Summon Monsters.
Well, I had to switch out Telomere…
But that was worrying me a bit.
I knew I had Shishiku to fight in the front, so I wasn’t too worried, but I was lost as to what the other Summon Monster should be.
I thought about it for a while, and ultimately recalled Bunraku to summon Gengetsu.
Gengetsu wouldn’t be as strong as Telomere, and there was no way for Gengetsu to replace his MP bar…
But Gengetsu’s skills would make for a nice insurance.
I was looking forward to seeing what he could do.
《Summon Monster『Peptide』Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
The time was 7:20 pm.
Peptide managed to get a level-up before Gengetsu.
The stat that went up with Peptide’s level-up was STR.
I put another point into VIT.
Peptide Giant Scorpion Lv7→Lv8(↑1)
DEX 18
AGI 16
INT 7

《Summon Monster『Peptide』has cleared the Class Change conditions!》
《Please go to the Monster’s status screen to access the Class Change candidates.》
As always, I started by using Fusion Identification on Peptide.
I had a feeling I already knew the result, but I wanted to be sure.
It was easy for me to forget, after all.
《The target is not an eligible Summon Monster for fusion.》
Well then.
What were the Class Change candidates?
Class Change Candidates:
Desert Scorpion
Ooh!
It was a somewhat nostalgic name.
Wasn’t that like an alternate name for a killer scorpion?
Well, at least I wouldn’t have to worry too much about which path to take.
I quickly chose the Desert Scorpion and finished the Class Change process.
Peptide Giant Scorpion Lv8 → Desert Scorpion Lv1(New!)
DEX 20(↑2)
AGI 16
INT 7
STR 20(↑2)
VIT 20(↑2)
SPI 7

Pincer Strike Sting Evade(New!) Conceal Hide Ambush
Deadly Poison(New!) Fire Resistance(New!)
【Desert Scorpion】Summon Monster Battle Position: Ground, Underground
A large scorpion. Its main means of attack are its pincers and the stinger on its tail, which contains a very potent poison.
It can also burrow into sand or soil very quickly.
Wow, the poison skill evolved into a skill called Deadly Poison.
Very scary!
With that, I had a couple Summon Monsters with strong poison attacks.
And on top of that, I even had weapons capable of inflicting the poison abnormal status condition.
Poison, huh…
It wasn’t much of a contributing factor against weaker monsters, but it was certainly valuable against the tougher ones.
《The target is not an eligible Summon Monster for fusion. A Class Change is required.》
I suppose that meant that after another Class Change, I would have the choice to get myself another Fusion Summon Monster.
It felt like it was going to be a long road for me to walk though… Well, it was something I could keep in mind.
Well then, moving on…
It was time to recall Peptide.
I summoned Tigris.
My Summon Monster team at that time consisted of Volff, Shishiku, Tigris, Gengetsu, and Romulus.
It was a team that focused very much on mobility.
Not having Telomere definitely made my Summon Monster team a bit weaker, but not by much.
My Summon Monster team was a lot faster because of it, so I was looking forward to seeing how that would change their fighting style.
What was I most worried about?
I was mostly worried that something like this would happen:
General Kubira Lv.8
Heavenly General Enemy Target Active
Battle position: Ground Steam Attribute Lightning Resistance
Paia Lv.3
Monster Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Earth Attribute Fire Resistance
Even the Paia boars were starting to get pretty strong too.
Gravity Prison was still working fine, but I noticed that the spell was resisted by one of them.
Well, that was fine.
There were other spells I could use, and I had Gengetsu too, so I wasn’t so worried about that.
Yep, having that kind of insurance was always a big plus.
But as expected, the battles against the General Kubira were starting to take longer and longer.
But that meant that the poison had more time to continuously build up damage, so I wasn’t about to complain either.
I was just glad that my Summon Monsters and me were taking less damage than before.
After some time, I got myself another Light Quartz Dagger.
Finally got it!
I noticed that I got it quite soon after the General Kubira levelled up… Did the drop rate have something to do with the level of the monster?
Maybe it was just my imagination.
I kept on grinding out fights with the General Kubira though.
Obviously, the levels of the General Kubira and the Paia boars were really starting to get higher.
It had been a long time since I last saw a Muscle Boar.
Well, that meant more experience points for me.
At the pace I was going, I could even get Romulus a Class Change into a Black Wolf, probably.
But I suppose getting Remus a Class Change was a bit too much to ask for.
I guess I would have to wait for another day to see the Orthros.

Thanks for the treat.
