Chapter 258 Part 1

The Emissary of Ptah?
Is it higher ranked than the Acolytes, Followers, and the Underlings?
If so then I’ll have to reconsider my current lineup.
Volff, Florin, Abyss, Oma, and Taihaku.
I’m thinking about raising our battle power while keeping exploration in mind.
I should probably change it, right?

I reassembled the team.
I recall Florin, Abyss, and Taihaku and summon Senki, Shishiku, and Telomere.
My serious line up.
Oma shifts to beastman form, seeming pumped to fight.
Now then.
After applying strengthening spells, I reach out to touch the altar。

《Do you want to challenge the Emissary of Ptah to a battle?》

《Yes》《No》

Of course, I’ll challenge them.
Now, what’s going to come out?

Emissary of Ptah Lv.1
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Acolyte of Ptah Lv.4
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Apis Lv.3
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Spacetime Attribute Light Attribute Dark Attribute

Nothing much changed!
No, it seems like there’s 1 Emissary, 2 Acolytes, and 3 Apis’s.
The Emissary of Ptah’s outfit resembles the Acolyte’s.
Dressed in jet-black priestly robes.
Now, I wonder how they’re different?

This sucks.
What does?
The Emissary.
Unrelated to Apis’ ability, I don’t know where it will appear.
It disappears as if melting into the darkness.
Even Sense Magic can’t keep track of it.
How problematic.
But while hidden it can’t attack me either.
Is that my only salvation?

How will they attack me?
Many rings of darkness spread through the area.
It’s not that effective near Telomere, but it’s not completely ineffective either.
How problematic.
Using Dimension Mirror wouldn’t be that effective.

Of course, I would like to use something like Attribute Seal, but the Acolytes and Apis’s are getting in my way.
It’s annoying but I’ll have to take care of them first.
Of course, I can’t drop Resist Dark.
An invisible opponent, huh.
What a troublesome guy!

I somehow got it down to just the Emissary, but…
Even so, my disadvantage won’t go away.
That’s because the number of Acolytes was increasing.
You’re even calling your friends!
How persistent.
From the《Item Box》I take out the Black Rope.
It’s gonna be time consuming, but I can’t help it.
I will definitely catch you!

「Gaaah!」

Volff’s bark comes from?
Directly behind me.
When I turned around, there was the Emissary in black.
I won’t miss this chance.
As soon as the Emissary unfroze, I grabbed his right arm with both of mine.
Two on One.
That’s what this position is referred to in wrestling.
The form is slightly different, but you could say it’s an arm grab and pull.
Now that I’ve got you I won’t let you get away!

I hold her arm.
I don’t intend to stop at just that.
The black rope winds around the sleeve of the black robe on her arm.
I’ll get right to it and ignite the flames.
Without a second thought I aim for the neck.
Tightly gripping the Emissary’s arm, I move behind her and push her against the ground.
Now.
How should I cook them?

An Acolyte is approaching me.
But they don’t reach.
Caught by Telomere, their neck was bitten.
They don’t seem to like it.
After wildly waving their axe, they go limp.

Senki takes on an Apis as it rushes in.
Oi.
Telomere capitalizes on that to bite its neck and start sucking blood.
Oi Oi Oi.
Well I guess it’s fine
What’s up with the other Acolytes?
Volff and Oma are facing off with some and seem to have the advantage.
There appears to only be one Apis left, which Shishiku is up against.
They seem to be fairly evenly matched.
Apis, you’re strong even when you’re not a rearguard!
This is definitely better than bullfighting, right?
There had been another Apis, but they must have been taken care of while I was struggling with the Emissary.
Sorry everyone.
I’m the most useless one!

In the end I managed to somehow finish off the Emissary, but I’m not that happy about it.
I ended up feeling kind of depressed.
I’ve got a lot to reflect on.
I know it was a difficult enemy, but I want to have more head on slugfests.
I could tell while I was holding it down that the Emissary of Ptah is definitely stronger than the Acolytes.
If I hadn’t been strengthened with spells they might have escaped my technique with pure force.
To attack from the darkness or something.
Well anyways, that was my only complaint.

《Due to victory in battle, you may learn the following Support Skill:【Darkness Resistance】》

Hm?
Wasn’t that a little different from the usual message?
It seems like there’s some sort of Support Skill available.
【Darkness Resistance】?
Probably- no, it definitely does what I think it does.
It requires 5 Bonus Points to unlock.
I’ll put that on hold for now.
Is it possible that something similar will happen at the other altar?
For the time being I’ll stick to the same route.
I can worry about getting new skills afterwards.

Emissary of Sekhmet Lv.1
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Acolyte of Sekhmet Lv.4
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Desert Lion Lv.1
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Fire Attribute Earth Attribute

I was right.
1 Emissary, 2 Acolytes, and 3 accompanying Demons, huh.
The Emissary is wearing the same black robes.
Mm.
However I predicted this composition.
My lineup’s vanguard is Senki, Shishiku, and Oma.
The 3 Desert Lions guarded each other as they moved in on Telomere.
Volff and I matched up against the Acolytes and the Emissary.
The Emissary of Sekhmet starts to move all over the place.
There’s no waste in it’s efficient movements.
Well, if it’s always dodging, even if it can escape, it has no defense.
It has no counterattack.
That makes this boring.
That showed in my spear handling.
I make a wide sweep.
Of course, sweeping with a spear is a standard thing to do, but.
It’s easy to find an opening in that movement.
In that opening, there’s room for someone to jump in to attack.
Indeed, the Emissary begins to jump towards my opening.

Did she read the timing?
But it’s actually more convenient if she comes closer.
But, that, huh.
You can see she has a great figure even through the black robe.
It’s a shame.
While thinking about that, I grabbed the Emissary’s staff-holding arm and twisted it up.

What’s the battle situation?
The way Senki sent the Desert Lions flying was terrible.
Armguard and Boots?
Those are bludgeoning weapons.
No mistake.

The 3 Desert Lions go flying one after another.
Don’t forget the ground is as hard as cobblestone.
One of them even got an Abnormal Status after being struck by Senki.
The ground looks like the strongest weapon of all.
Shishiku, Telomere, and Oma were all also engaged in flashy battles, but somehow Senki stands out.
He’s huge after all.

Oops.
I should get rid of this Emissary already.
Volff is keeping the Acolytes under control.
I can’t give him too much work.
Pushing the Tokkosho against the back of her head, I deploy Ice on the blade.
Ooh!
Her HP bar has gone down nicely.
Even so, what’s with her still having health left?

This time I plunge the ice blade pointing down into his collarbone.
If the heart is in the same place as a human then that should be a direct hit.
Even her HP Bar couldn’t withstand that.
Alright, next up is the Apostles.
Their showing off their wonderful physiques
If it’s just below the neck, I want to admire it forever.
But I guess I’ve got to hurry here.
If the Desert Lions have been annihilated, the only prey remaining is the Acolytes.
Ah! Volff has slaughtered one of the Acolytes!

Even so, I was able to finish off the remaining prey in time.
It was close.

《Due to victory in battle, you may learn the following Support Skill:【Paralysis Resistance】》
《Due to victory in battle, you may learn the following Support Skill:【Petrification Resistance】》

The skills I can unlock increased.
With this timing, I guess when you defeat an Emissary you can unlock skills?
Relative to the difficulty, that’s pretty nice.
No, when it comes to power the Emissary’s party is overwhelmingly stronger than the one led by the Acolytes.
However, my power has also increased to the point that I feel bad.
I don’t feel like I’m struggling that much.

Anyways, I got【Paralysis Resistance】and【Petrification Resistance】but, what should I do?
【Paralysis Resistance】takes 6 Points and【Petrification Resistance】seems to take 8.
But I really want that【Petrification Resistance】you know…
I’ll only get that and activate it.

Well then, the next.
The Acolyte of Khonsu- no, it’ll be the Emissary of Khonsu?
I wonder what skill I’ll get access to.
I have high expectations.
It would be great if there was a Support Skill to counter instant death but.

Emissary of Khonsu Lv.1
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Acolyte of Khonsu Lv.4
Apostle Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground ???

Lamia Lv.1
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute Wind Attribute Water Attribute

Oh right, this one was the Lamia.
I have Psycho Pod on so I think I should be able to put up some degree of resistance.
Charming is scary, huh?
I would guess that none of the Abnormal Status attacks can be completely prevented.
It’s here after all.
I doubt things are that easy.

Was it easy?
No, I don’t think that it was easy.
Is it better to say that it was unexpected?
Lamia, you had the ability to suck blood, huh.
As she bit into the rigid Senki, her HP Bar recovered.
Hey now.
She’s the same as Telomere?
It seems like the Lamia’s MP Bar is also recovering.
Senki’s HP Bar didn’t fall that much, but his MP Bar was completely drained.
Meanwhile the biting Lamia’s health is completely recovered.
And she scatters wind blades and water needles.

This is that, right.
Seeing what we normally do with Telomere done to us, I understand.
This is villainy.
I get it now, okay?

Lamia’s upper body is beautiful but I won’t show her any mercy.
I slow down her movement with Gravity Prison and then finish her off.
To think they would be this bothersome.
That aside, Senki, you got charmed, huh?
When you take damage it’ll heal, but when your blood was sucked it didn’t.
That’s tough.
Be careful.

It seems like Volff and Shishiku got charmed partway through, but with Dispel Magic they came back to normal.
It was hard to predict when the Lamia would launch her charm attack.
I’m suspicious about the times where it stopped moving.

And the Emissary was also troublesome.
Oma got the Confusion effect after being hit with her cane.
They turned back to normal after I poked them lightly though.
Psycho Pod isn’t all powerful.
I know that.

That applies to me too.
I had Confusion for a time too.
The feeling of not having control was indescribably weird!
It was fortunate that Telomere gave me a poke.

In the end, the only who managed to fight without incurring Abnormal Status was Telomere.
Is it that she didn’t get caught up in the sex appeal of the woman?
Or maybe it was just by chance?

《Due to victory in battle, you may learn the following Support Skill:【Sleep Resistance】》

This time it’s【Sleep Resistance】.
It requires 6 Bonus Points.
What to do?
There are 2 more areas to clear.
Let’s wait a bit longer.
