Chapter 291 Part 2

「Shall we go, then?」

「Are you going to the W6 map?」

「I’d like to do some scouting before that.」

Well, then.
Let’s make a lineup centered around mobility.
Volff, Zangetsu, Helix, Couturier, and Kyokuya.
A pretty standard lineup.

What about Adele?
White Horse, White Wolf, Fighting Falcon, Silver Fox, and Orthros.
She really seems to like the fact that Fo-chan has turned into a Silver Fox, doesn’t she?
She’s in such a good mood that she’s let it sit on her head.

And what about Irina?
Battlehawk, Battlehorse, Slime, Mermaid, and Werewolf.
This Werewolf, which was created yesterday through Fuse Monsters, was named Yasuo.
It seems that he has been properly equipped already.
His equipment is a Leather Jacket similar to the one Oma, my own Werewolf, has..
His humanoid figure is that of a fearless-looking man with curly hair and dark skin.
It looks like he’d look good as a beach lifesaver during summer.
Very wild-looking indeed.
But he’s using his wolf form now, since we’re on the move.

The other non-Summoner players also start moving.
Several parties were forming unions as well.
I also see a formation where everyone in that union is on horseback.
And it’s not just one of these unions that is doing that…

Hmm.
As expected, being creative about this is huge.

「Well then, shall we get going?」

『We’re heading northwest first, right?』

『Let’s go meet that big guy!』

Oh, I wish I had Adele’s energy.
I really can’t look forward to this while I’m in a gloomy mood.
That’s right.
I can’t even look at that big guy as a formidable enemy to defeat.
That’s a walking chunk of experience points…
How can I make it look more appealing?
Well, what do you know? For some reason, I’m now looking forward to it.

First, we made short work of two Airavatas.
This was followed by a small herd of Racchango.
Up until that point, we’ve been hunting just like usual.
But these next guys…

A pack of Garms.
And the Majins that lead them.
There’s two of them; a pair of Jugglers.
Each of them is riding a Svadilfari Slave.

I have a feeling that this fight will turn into a serious horseback battle!

A serious battle?
Of course, real serious!
Despite all that, this is a considerably tough match.
Rather, it seems that it would be easier to stop and intercept these kinds of opponents.

In the end, those Svadilfari Slaves are fast!
They can dodge my Thorn Fences!
But why did that one yesterday get caught into one?
I see, it was because we were in a forest.
But what’s really pissing me off is the bad timing of my Spells.

At least I managed to stop those two by throwing my Gravity Prison into the mix.
Though it doesn’t hold them off for too long.

Those foolish Garms, too!
They’re ripping through my Thorn Fences in order to rescue their allies!

Those Garms…
What an extreme monster.
Their speed is amazing.
They aren’t as fast as the Volff and the Orthros after we have used our strengthening Spells on them, but they’re still pretty fast.
They also seem to have a high attack power.
I have to take recovery measures quite often.

On the other hand, they don’t seem to be very resilient.
Is that their only saving grace?
There’s a lot of them, but we should be fine.

By the way, what about the Majins?
Couturier is pestering them with her attacks, but what’s that?
Oh no, they’ve fallen off their mounts, those poor things… Let’s have Zangetsu step on them.
Well, that’s that.
How terrible, yeah.

As the number of Garms decrease, they continue their fight alongside the Svadilfari Slaves.
But there are no Majins leading them anymore.
Still, I can’t say that now they’ve become easy to deal with.
They’re still very hard to beat.
Though I can say that I’m glad that all they’re doing is trying to ram into us.
I can stave off their ramming attack by countering them with a jousting attack.
The reason why they’re so tough despite my counterattack being effective is probably their ability to regenerate.
Their HP bar is regenerating at a visibly fast rate.
Well, that won’t go on for long.
I can’t let it go on.
Aiming for its vitals, I thrust, I counter-thrust whenever it tries to ram into me, and throw in some offensive Spells as well…
And so, somehow, one of them…

Not only this one, the other one is also in terrible condition.
It has arrows piercing all over its body.
Despite being covered in blood, it doesn’t try to stop fighting.
Just like a wild horse.
Amazing.
This guy is definitely worthy of praise.

Our Summoned Monsters, who had already cleaned up all of the Garms, assembled and successfully cornered the Svadilfari Slave.
Hmph.
I wonder if things turned out like this because this group wasn’t as large as that huge horde that attacked us yesterday?
I wish there had been a few more in this group, though.

《Summoned Monster 【Couturier】 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a stat of your choice.》

Summoned Monsters that can fly are a great help against grounded monsters, even the fast ones.
It’s great that they tend to have high AGI, which makes them very fast as well.
Let’s continue to rely on their abilities.

Couturier’s AGI has increased automatically upon leveling up.
That’s what I thought!
I’ll choose SPI as her second stat increase.

Couturier Gigant Queen Lv2 → Lv3 (↑1)
 DEX 20
 AGI 32 (↑1)
 INT 12
 STR 9
 VIT 10
 SPI 9 (↑1)

 Skills
Sting Bite Flight Evade Ambush Lure Poison

「Are you all okay?」

『Wait a little, please!』

『I have to recover!』

The battle itself can be said to have been a bit dull.
We may have taken some damage, but they weren’t that hard to beat.
However, there is one thing that resulted from this battle I’m not satisfied with.
The items.
We earned nothing but Magic Stones!
It’s better than nothing, but this clearly feels like we’ve been poorly rewarded for our efforts.
The Svadilfari Slaves didn’t drop anything.
And of course the Majins left nothing behind either.

Good grief.
In order to remove the bad taste from my mouth, I summoned a herd of Racchangos, an Airavata, and a group of Minor Griffons for us to hunt.
Sorry.
I’m just taking my frustrations out on you guys.

《Summoned Monster 【Kyokuya】 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a stat of your choice.》

As usual, Kyokuya continues to eat monster meat.
Just like Shishiku, there’s still no sign of Predator Fusion working.
It’s a little scary, sure.
What about now?

Kyokuya’s AGI has increased automatically upon leveling up.
Yeah, he can get that stat as high as he wants!
I’ll choose DEX as his second stat increase.

Kyokuya Orthros Lv2 → Lv3 (↑1)
 DEX 14 (↑1)
 AGI 35 (↑1)
 INT 15
 STR 19
 VIT 19
 SPI 15

 Skills
Bite Dash Threaten Night Vision Listen Sense Danger
Pursue Predator Fusion Breath Fire Attribute Dark Attribute

I braced myself for a moment.
Any changes?
It doesn’t look like it.
Disappointing.
No, really.
Has there really been a change like Shishiku?
I’m curious about that.

Now, Irina’s Slime has also changed.
It looks like it has undergone a Class Change.
Irina seems to have chosen for it to turn into the Water Attribute variant.
In other words, it has Class Changed into a Blue Gelatin.
It’s semi-transparent, unlike Rig.
Whoa, it’s really deep blue!
By the way…
This Blue Gelatin is called Candy.
Blue Candy, huh?
Like Blue Hawaii?
No, that’s a kind of snow cone!

There it is.
I found it!
The Slave Beast – Turtlesnake.
There are no Lesser Gryphons flying above it.
Oh…
Those are sad news.

Wait, that’s not it.
It simply has fewer monsters guarding it.
In order to approach that huge monster, having fewer monsters around would certainly help.
Let’s look at it that way.

The problem is?
It’s the number of monsters actually following it.
I have no way of knowing if it’s going up or down!
Because it’s still in the W6 map.
It’s surrounded by forest, so I still can’t see the full picture of the group of monsters around it.

How slow can that thing be?
It’s even slower than I thought it’d be!
Way too slow!

『What are we going to do?』

「I’d be nice if we could reduce the number of monsters around it.」

『And have an encounter like yesterday?』

Would Adele refuse?
Well, maybe.
But we should make use of the painful experience we had yesterday.
It’s hard to get anything out of a successful experience.
But it’s easy to get something out of failure.
It shows where there’s room for improvement.

But, you know…
It would be better to challenge them after they enter the W5 map.
Challenging such a large group of monsters while we can’t see the whole picture is definitely a reckless thing to do.
Should we ignore these guys for now?

「Let’s try chipping away at the Demon forces that are marching at the rear.」

『Then we should go a little further ahead.』

『Phew, I’m glad.』

Adele doesn’t enjoy running away in the forest.
I understand, but…
Does she enjoy chasing down fleeing opponents and taking them down?
If so, that’s really sadistic of her!
Though I also love finishing off opponents who are trying to run away.
