Chapter 292 Part 2
I need to come up with a way to fight.
There’s a pattern where the Majins come to attack us while riding on Lesser Gryphons.
And now there’s the other one where they come riding on Svadilfari Slaves instead.
It is clear which one I should be focusing on.
Definitely the latter.
So what will I do?
I ended up taking Indra’s Halberd, which has a reduced number of attacks, out of the equation.
I tossed it into the Item Box.
And what did I take out in its place?
The Black Rope.
But it’s more like insurance.
It would be ideal to fight Garms with the Tokkosho, but let’s prioritize enduring a hand-to-hand combat situation.
When it comes to attacking and defending with the Tokkosho, there are many occasions where I end up getting hit.
We’re in the middle of a forest.
These aren’t ideal conditions for me to be swinging it around.
Of course, I can always use the Tokkosho to stab my opponents.
However, stabbing for no damage would cause all sorts of problems.
I want to somehow overcome this by throwing Spells into the mix.
《Summoned Monster 【Goukame】 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a stat of your choice.》
The same Goukame who fights at his own slow, detached pace.
In fact, Goukame was the MVP against the Garms.
I’m a fool for forgetting about Goukame’s special ability.
He can throw stones, as well as deploy a water curtain.
In addition to this, he can also build up walls made of ivy.
His water curtain in particular is great for both attack and defense.
Some Garms outright killed themselves while trying to pass through it.
Ah, yes, his level up message.
Goukame’s SPI has increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose STR as his second stat increase.
Goukame Forest Tortoise Lv2 → Lv3 (↑1)
DEX 4
AGI 10
INT 20
STR 18 (↑1)

SPI 24 (↑1)

Goukame still has about half of his MP bar left.
I want to keep counting on him for a little longer.
The problem is the timing of his attacks.
After all, Goukame is slow.
I’ve put a lot of effort into raising his AGI, but he’s still slow.
Even if he manages to secure a position to launch a surprise attack, it still takes him a lot of time.
The same goes for Jericho.
As expected, he’s still very slow despite how much we’ve worked on his AGI.
Well, it seems there is still room for improvement.
It’s impossible to be perfect in everything, but this still makes things much harder for us, doesn’t it?
However, even those who are slow-footed can indeed be reliable when they make the best use of their strengths.
Don’t just focus on their weaknesses.
Let’s go back to basics.
Put their strengths to good use, and make up for their weaknesses.
I too must make this compromise and compensate for our shortcomings.
Weird…
For some reason, it doesn’t look like the number of monsters is decreasing.
But the battles themselves are looking pretty good.
That’s an astonishing contradiction.
Since we’re in the middle of the forest, and it’s getting darker, I can’t see exactly how many Garms are out there.
I had thought that there were a lot of them.
Even if I don’t like it, I noticed this abnormality as I finished redeploying my Magma Field for the second time.
Could it be that these guys aren’t calling their allies for help?
Yeah.
Garms are indeed dog-like monsters.
Sometimes they bark like dogs.
But are they really calling for help when they do?
Suspicious.
Very suspicious.
The Majins and their mounts – the Svadilfari Slaves – who were here in the beginning, are already dead and lying on the ground.
Wait, another Majin riding a Svadilfari Slave is coming here in the middle of our battle?
Well, I’m not narrow-minded enough to refuse such generosity.
However, this makes the Exorcising Priest my top priority.
The next targets should be the Clowns and the Bards.
I know that Jugglers and Pantomimers are also strong, though.
On top of that, Garms are quite troublesome.
Although they have high attack power and mobility, they’re easily countered.
Even so, I can’t ignore the damage they deal, which forces me to use recovery spells several times.
I just had to use Regenerate twice.
And I keep refreshing our buffs before they wear off.
It’s weird.
Really, really weird.
This time, a monster that looks like it’s made of rock appears before me.
What is it?
It’s an Obsidian Beast.
It looks very similar to the Rock Beasts I’ve fought before.
But similar is all they are.
This one’s imposing appearance is second to none.
It’s clearly superior to those Rock Beasts.
Jericho and Goukame became our walls and intercepted it.
In terms of size, monsters that are able to deliver overwhelming attacks are better.
Jericho’s fist hits the monster like a hammer.
The resulting sound is similar to having hit a boulder.
The echoing sounds of this battle are reminiscent of those of a construction site.
Goukame also raises a large rock mass above his head and uses it to hit the monster.
He then raised a wall of ivy in front of the enemy vanguard.
While repeating this process, he managed to bite the leg of the approaching monster, preventing it from advancing any further.
How’s the situation going?
We have a clear disadvantage in terms of numbers.
We’re basically being bullied here.
However, the number of Garms finally seems to be starting to decline.
The same goes for the Majins riding their Svadilfari Slaves.
Instead, we’re now being attacked by Majins riding on Lesser Gryphons, which are giving us a hard time.
My current team has no aerial Summoned Monsters.
That’s why it’s a struggle.
But somehow I managed to make up for it using my Gravity Prison as well as some offensive Spells.
I think I know why it’s so strange.
Before I knew it, I had plunged into the group of monsters the Kim Kui Slave is following.
In the darkness of the night, I can see a huge shadow moving in the distance thanks to my Night Vision.
It seems that it is really slowly moving away from us.
What about the number of monsters around it?
It’s decreasing.
This long battle is nearing its end.
At least, I hope it is.
I can’t wait any longer.
The Info screen…
Is the Info screen out yet?
Along comes the Obsidian Beast pouncing.
And a Tri-horned Lizard follows behind it.
How many more big guys will be coming towards us?
However, the monsters’ reinforcements have begun to fight each other.
There’s a small marker overlapping their usual red markers.
It indicates that they are suffering from a certain status effect.
And that status effect is Charm.
That’s right, it’s Kiyohime!
But I’m starting to worry about our MP bars.
Jericho and Goki are still good in that regard.
But Goukame, Modulus, and Kiyohime have already used up more than half of their MP reserves.
I managed to alleviate this by using Mana Potions, but even those have a cooldown on their use.
We’re gradually wearing down.
More?
They’re still coming?
I use Pitfall to trap the Tri-horned Lizard’s front legs, then I slit its throat and drive my weapon through its eyes.
Of course, my weapon of choice here is the Tokkosho.
Is this the third one of those huge Tri-horned Lizards already?
This isn’t a monster that I can hunt alone without the support from Kiyohime’s Charm keeping the Obsidian Beast busy.
They’re just too big!
And just like the Twin-horned Lizards, its HP bar gradually recovers!
Kiyohime’s poison is somehow still being a great help, though!
How long has it been?
A huge shadow that looks like a Kim-Kui Slave can be seen in the distance.
What other monsters will come to attack us now?
Nothing.
Nothing seems to be coming our way.
The Obsidian Beast that Jericho is punching right now is all there is left?
Really?
The Obsidian Beast is caught in a trap Modulus made using her spider web.
It cannot move freely.
Will Jericho’s punches bring this to an end?
But it looks like this wasn’t the last of them after all.
Pain runs through my back.
Have I been attacked from behind?
There’s a Majin behind me.
A Dark Clown.
And it’s over Level 10.
Hey!
Don’t you dare hit and run, you bastard!
There was a certain something that this Majin hadn’t accounted for.
A trap.
It ended up plunging itself into the spider web that Modulus had created.
The Dark Clown became ensnared in the spider web and became unable to move.
It cannot escape.
Very well…
How shall we deal with this one?
I want to finish it off.
So I grab him by the head and twist its neck.
Now it’s over.
It’s over… right?
Please be over!
Thanks for the treat.
