Chapter 293 Part 2
After this series of events, the calculations were finally over.
Rick had calculated the total price for me, but…
As I expected, it looks like I’ll still have to pay out of my own pocket.
I’ve been waiting for the jewel processing fee for a while.
Well, it seems that I can pay the full amount later instead of having to pay half now and the other half later.
So there are no complaints from me.
After all, not being able to loot the monsters I defeated last night ended up hurting a lot.
I can hear myself grumbling about it again.
Even a single Magic Stone would’ve been fine…
Or some meat…
If only I had gotten something, anything, out of that fight…
This won’t do.
Let’s stay positive.
Eyes to the front.
The only thing I’m worried about is my Maces.
Well, I can use a Hatchet as a substitute if need be.
The Snow Beast’s Mace is the only one I’m using right now.
And I only have enough materials left to make another one.
I have 1 Snow Beast Stone and 1 Snow Beastman’s bone left.
Well, no need to rush things.
I’m not in any particular hurry.
I’ll make a new one once I have the chance.
What does Goki look like now?
He carries his bow and quiver on his back, together with the Nodachi and Steel Longsword, as well as a hatchet on his waist.
He can also attach his shield to his back.
What is this feeling?
He reminds me of Musashibo Benkei.
Though I’m getting huge western vibes from him as well.
Well, I’ll be recalling him for now.
After all, we gotta move.
Let’s go with the usual traveling lineup.
Volff, Zangetsu, Helix, Rig, and Nias.
I exchange Nias’ Swordfish Spear for the White Elephant Spear.
I’ve decided to sell my two Swordfish Spears.
So I give them to Rick and tell him to settle the bill for me later.
I’ll be keeping Goki’s old armor, though.
It seems I could use it as a spare set for myself.
Am I forgetting something?
I feel like there’s something else…
Well, whatever.
If it’s important, I’ll probably remember it later.
Let’s look at Adele’s lineup.
White Horse, White Wolf, Fighting Falcon, Orthros, and Imp.
This Imp seems to be a new summon.
Its name is Pu-chan.
Now onto Irina’s lineup…
Battlehawk, Battlehorse, Pixie, Werewolf, and Imp.
This new Imp’s name is Big Dipper.
It has a nice ring to it, but it’s also a bit ominous.
This is because the Big Dipper is also associated with a deity that rules over death.
Oh well, whatever.
It’s an Imp after all.
We form an union and then depart.
There are many other players leaving as well.
I can also see some Summoner unions.
Hmm?
Come to think of it, weren’t Haruna, Konohana, Hyodor, and Heraclius coming here too?
「Some familiar Summoners are here as well, huh?」
『I heard that there are about 40 Summoners hunting monsters on the W5 map.』
『There are quite a few of them hunting on the W4 map and W3 map as well!』
「Hmm…」
I see.
In a sense, you can earn a good amount of experience points there.
Was that intended by the game’s admins?
Are they trying to promote speedy progress through the maps?
There are certain fights that are very difficult to deal with at a party level, but can be dealt with easier by forming a union.
Even more so out there in the plains.
Unlike caves, you can fight effectively out there.
Well, relying on outnumbering the enemy isn’t all bad.
But please try to secure as much prey as you can without it sparking any disputes amongst yourselves.
We’re headed northwest.
The plan is to continue where we left off yesterday.
We left the group of monsters that had advanced the most to the other players.
There’s a lot of players in the area, so there’s no way we’ll join them.
Experience points should be shared by everyone, not something to compete for.
Ah, that’s right.
We can’t loosen up even while on the move.
Should we summon our monsters and find us some adequate monsters for us to hunt as we go?
By “adequate” I don’t mean weak.
I’m talking about strong opponents.
After all, there won’t be any sense of accomplishment otherwise.
Shall we start with that herd of Racchango?
《【Joust】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Joust】weapon arte【Penetrate】!》
《【Grab】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster 【Rig】 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a stat of your choice.》
Even though it’s a herd of Racchango and we’re on the move, we’ve become a lot stronger.
So we made it a little harder for ourselves.
We made a train.
That’s right.
This kind of thing is a nuisance to do when there are other players around.
But I made Helix do a wide area search and confirmed that there were no other players in the area.
I also added a few more monsters using Call Monster.
I had to do it this way, otherwise it’d be too easy for us, you know?
It’s a desperate measure.
Please understand.
By the way…
Rig’s DEX has increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose VIT as its second stat increase.
Rig Yellow Pudding Lv7 → Lv8 (↑1)
DEX 20 (↑1)
AGI 13
INT 8
STR 8
VIT 14 (↑1)
SPI 8
Skills
Dissolve Shapeshift Viscosity Surface Tension Shift Nullify Physical
Thunder Attribute Fire Attribute Water Resistance
This should be fine.
But there’s that, too.
The larger the herd is, the greater the effect of Nias’ song becomes.
It’s more efficient like this.
After quickly rendering them asleep, Irina and I used our Pitfall spells to drop them into a hole in the ground one after another.
Our Summoned Monsters took care of those who failed to fall into the holes.
And we disposed of the monsters that did fall into the holes with our spells.
Some of them were tenacious enough to try to climb their way out of the holes, but I just pushed them back down with the Lion Sage’s Lance.
Nias also helped me with that.
How’s she doing with her new spear?
She’s doing great.
As expected, it is not easy for her to wield it with one hand, but she can manage.
All she had to do with it was push monsters back down into the hole.
『I think that doing trains in a map where the number of players keeps going up is a bit wrong, though.』
『But it’s fine if there are no players up ahead!』
Well, well…
Don’t say it like that!
Irina isn’t really complaining either.
Looting these monsters’ corpses isn’t all that satisfying.
Harvesting the meat from a Fighting Bull takes a lot of work, but extracting a Racchango’s Red Crystal isn’t that much of a burden.
It’s one Red Crystal out of ten Racchangos, so even verifying the items we looted was quick work as well.
Both Adele and Irina have access to the Cooking Skill.
Maybe they want to farm some meat?
I wonder if we’ll have better odds by hunting Twin-horned Lizards on the W6 map?
Besides that…
The Imps under their command are leveling up at a reasonable pace.
We’ve had some solid results from this battle.
By the way…
I managed to get 3 Red Crystals out of the Racchango corpses.
Adele got five.
And Irina got five as well.
Hey, 【Disassembly】, are you just not gonna do your job?
We aim for the border of the W6 map and turn westward.
Of course, this is after confirming that there are no players around.
Huh?
A train?
I see no reason not to do one of those.
Happy times for everyone!
That’s what I think.
In this battle, I also tried out my newly acquired martial arts.
The Joust weapon arte, Penetrate.
It’s a term used in basketball when a player pierces through the other team’s defense.
I can somehow imagine what this weapon arte is like.
Pushing through a group of monsters, piercing through their openings, and thrusting into them.
That’s the kind of image I have in my mind.
What does the weapon arte’s short description say?
When used against a dense group of enemies, it will divide their weak points.
When dealing with large monsters, it can be used to charge at its weak points.
That seems to be the case.
I tried using it against these Racchango, but I can’t feel its usefulness.
Maybe I misread both the battle situation and the enemy?
To trample down…
Yes, isn’t this a weapon arte that should be used while trampling down on opponents?
Trampling down, huh?
That sounds good.
Whoa, I still have to loot these Racchango corpses.
My prey is vanishing before my eyes.
Please stay here a little longer!
On that note…
This is the second item harvesting contest of the day.
Did you hear that, 【Disassembly】?
You better not be pretending to be sick so you don’t have to come to work, you hear me?
And what were the results?
I got a grand total of two Red Crystals.
Adele got six.
And Irina got five.
Sheesh…

Thanks for the treat.
