Chapter 297 Part 2

I turn around once again at a considerable distance from the turtle.
This time, I turn to attack.
The Bow users fire a volley of arrows at the Lesser Gryphons in the sky.
Then our flying Summoned Monsters attack one after another.
I can clearly see the situation from my position behind enemy lines.
We’re attacking them with sheer numbers.
It’s pretty basic.
And definitely effective.
The Lesser Gryphons still seem to be able to fight, but none of them got away unscathed.
All of their Majin riders have already either been defeated or caused to fall to the ground.
With this, we can safely say that our first objective has been fulfilled.

What’s next?
The rest of the Majins, of course.
However, the blessing of the Wind Spirit Sylph has worn off.
From here on out, it’s going to be a serious battle against the Exorcising Priests.
What should we turn to in a situation like this?
A Sealing spell.

「Five Elemental Seal!」

The Majins that head towards me the most are the Jugglers.
I have to ignore them!
I need to start with the Exorcising Priests at the back.
I don’t have time to check whether my spell worked or not.
There are even more Exorcising Priests up ahead.
I select my next spell and activate it.
Zangetsu rams into a Svadilfari Slave and I thrust my jousting spear into it.
At the same time, something jumps in front of me.
The Majin before my eyes seems to be a Juggler.
Wait, what happened?
It’s Zangetsu.
She’s just skewered the Juggler with her horn!
Whoa!

Zangetsu shakes her head to shake the Majin off her horn.
I look around while using my Five Elemental Seal on the Exorcising Priest behind me.
This is getting dangerous.
I’m almost completely surrounded.

『Keith!』

『Over here! Over here!』

I turn to the voices that were calling me, and there I see Adele and Irina.
The Wolf-type Summoned Monsters are neatly forming a line, as if it had been put together provisionally.
Of course, Volff is there with them.
I could see what they wanted to do.
I fiercely encourage Zangetsu to run forward.
And Zangetsu responded.
She started running at a tremendous speed.
However, the Svadilfari Slaves and Garms are still chasing me, trying to capture me.
There’s no sign of them giving up.

The first attack was a volley of arrows.
But there were definitely more arrows flying than the number of Summoner Bow-users.
They were probably using some kind of weapon arte.
It was very effective, seeing as how the monsters chasing after me seem to have slowed down.
However, these Majins and monsters are still not giving up the chase.
That’s something truly commendable.

Just as Zangetsu leaps past the line of Wolf-type Summoned Monsters…
A flurry of AoE offensive spells.
Breath attacks from the Orthros.
The Hawk-types and Owl-types also attacked from above with their special abilities.
I turn Zangetsu around to check the situation.
It’s truly spectacular.
Even so, there are still monsters coming towards us.
Several Svadilfari slaves.
Will all of the Garms be completely wiped out by this strategy?
I can’t see any Majins riding these Svadilfari Slaves anymore.

Then, the Summoned Monsters attack all at once.
Even though the number of opponents is small, there is no mercy.
They quickly knock them to the ground, and then gang up on them.
It’s a massacre.
Like an army of wasps attacking honey bees.

Ah!
Wait a minute!

Give me a chance to finish off at least one of them!

My wish ends up not coming true.
You guys are so quick to finish them off…
I know you’re doing a great job, but I can’t reward you if you keep this up!

《【Wind Magic】Level Up!》
《【Silence Resistance】Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Couturier』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

It seems that there are no more active monsters locking on to us.
How many monsters have we eliminated?
It feels like we’ve pulled all of the high-mobility monsters on their side in one go.
Well, let’s put that aside for now.

Couturier’s AGI increased automatically upon leveling up once again.
Let’s choose STR as her second stat increase.

Couturier Gigant Queen Lv3 → Lv4 (↑1)
 DEX 20
 AGI 33 (↑1)
 INT 12
 STR 10 (↑1)
 VIT 10
 SPI 9

Sting Bite Flight Evade Ambush Lure Poison

As I take a look at Couturier’s skills, I think…
Lure, huh?
Well, I’ve got Call Monsters as well.
Since they have already lost their commanders, it would be easy to split them up and dispose of them.
Maybe we can make good use of this?

「Are there any Majins in sight?」

『I can’t really tell because at this distance!』

Ah.
Of course.
How stupid of me.

I’ll have to wait a little while to try it.
Everyone else is in the middle of recovering.
It would be unreasonable to try this out immediately.

There were no deaths on our side as a result of this battle.
We only suffered minor damage in that five of our Summoned Monsters are now suffering from status abnormalities.
Can we still fight?
Yeah, we can.
There’s time.
I have no intention of letting it go to waste.

As soon as I finish collecting all the Gold Ore I can from these Lesser Gryphon corpses, I’ll give it a try.
I’ll use Call Monster.

So, what about Lesser Gryphons?
There are none left.
What about Svadilfari Slaves?
There are none left.
And what about Garms?
I can hardly believe it since there were always some of them around, but there are none left either.
This is a terrifyingly good result.

So what is left to defend that turtle?
Only Tri-horned Lizard and Obsidian Beasts.
And how many?
There are at least ten Tri-horned Lizards left.
And there are so many Obsidian Beasts that I don’t feel like counting them.
This is the type of enemy that you divide and conquer.

First of all, let’s bring only one Tri-horned Lizard using Call Monsters.
We can stop hitting it once it’s half dead.
Then it should start calling its friends.
I’m sure it will start doing that.

Fighting only one of them at a time, our formation isn’t going to be very effective!
We have to overwhelm them all with our numbers.
It seems that some of our Wolves are too much for the Tri-horned Lizard, which ends up being blown away.
The Tri-horned Lizard seems to be able to land quite skillfully, though.
It’s almost as if it was a cat, huh?
I’m pretty sure it’s not a cat, though.

As a result, the Tri-horned Lizard ends up dying before it even has the chance to call for help.
I’ve been wondering about this for a while… Are these guys really of a higher rank than Twin-horned Lizards?
There is no doubt that they are more difficult to deal with, but this difference in difficulty doesn’t seem to be that high.
Well, there’s no doubt that these are incredibly strong, though.

Oh well.
Call Monsters is doing its job well.
We can use it to split the Tri-horned Lizards from the rest of the guards.
What’s next?
Of course, it’s those Obsidian Beasts.
Eventually, it’ll be only us and that Slave Beast – Turtlesnake.
We’ve learned something from our previous battle.
We should avoid dealing with that thing as much as possible while there are still monsters around it to defend it.

『Three… no, four!』

「Five. Though I think we can do this.」

What are we talking about?
How many Tri-horned Lizards can be summoned at the same time with Call Monster?
That’s the matter in question.
Though my first offer was seven.

Adele is being surprisingly persistent, isn’t she?
To think that she won’t back down an inch!
Well, I guess I have no choice.
We don’t have much time, so I’ll have to make some compromises.
Four it is.

But, you know.
There’s no way to stop the four of them from calling their friends in the middle of the battle, right?
That’s right, the Tri-horned Lizards can call for their companion.
And who will come running to them?
It’s probably going to be the rest of the Tri-horned Lizards after all.
Because the Obsidian Beasts are too slow.

So in a sense, I guess it’s going to go according to my plan?
Well, perhaps Adele has already accounted for that.

So whose idea was the correct one here?
We called four of them at the same time.
Then four more came in the middle of the battle.
There are eight more of them remaining around the Slave Beast – Turtlesnake.
That’s a weird number for them to remain at!
Well, I’m having my fill of repeatedly attacking them over and over using my Boosted Power.
I don’t suppose I can do it again to get rid of them all?

I couldn’t.
How sad…

As if to let this sadness out, I used Boosted Power once again against the next four Tri-horned Lizards we called.
It made me feel a little better.
Still, they only got to call one more of their own.

Dammit.
Sadly, they went down so quickly…

So we called the last three of them and took them all out.
It seems there was no need to use Boosted Power for this.
Oh well.
There will be plenty of opportunities for me to use it later.

Next up are those Obsidian Beasts.
We will be calling them and hunting them all.
Or at least, that’s what I expected.

But it’s time.
Time for what? Time for lunch.
That’s also sad.

But it’s not all bad.
Both the Slave Beast – Turtlesnake and the Obsidian Beasts have a very low movement speed.
I guess we could say that this is the best moment we have for us to have lunch.

The Summoners take turns using Instant Portal to eat and log out.
The other players are cautious of their surroundings.
That’s right.
Let’s wait patiently until the break is over.

Let’s wait while keeping an eye on our prey to make sure it doesn’t run away.
That’s right.
