Chapter 298 Part 5

I didn’t think he’d suddenly start using it as part of a dual-wielding weapon set!
He’s holding the mace in his right hand and his ax in his left.
He really looks like the fierce Rakshasa of buddhist lore.
No, he’s a Yaksha now.
This irregular dual weapon set seems like it’s better than a bow when it comes to dealing with Svadilfari Slaves.

Still…
That’s way more power than what we need right now.
Once he was done rampaging, I swapped him out.
After recalling Goki, I summoned Abyss.
I also recalled Volff and called forth Jericho.

Also, Shishiku was replaced halfway through the battle.
Don’t look at me like that!
Just a while ago, you ate Garms, Lesser Gryphons, and Svadilfari Slaves, right?
I’ve even seen you tearing apart Majin flesh and chewing on it.
I think you’ve had enough for now.

Then the Mist Yukiwa joins us.
The only opponent that it is a poor match for are the Majins.
But it can safely deal with the other monsters.
It’s especially well suited for dealing with Garms.
It can sometimes kill them all by itself.
This does eat through its MP bar, though.
It’s interesting to watch how when Yukiwa is about to completely run out of MP, it attacks in search of someone to absorb their MP.
Sourcing locally, huh?

Well, Telomere’s own local sourcing is more intense.
Her favorite source of sustenance are Svadilfari Slaves.
She happily attacks them.
Of course, she wouldn’t let any Lesser Gryphon who would try to escape get away.
On the other hand, she doesn’t seem to have any interest for the Majins at all.
It does feel like Majins don’t even have proper blood running through their veins.
I wonder what their ecology is like.

There are other things I can do while waiting.
Like having a sparring session.
Well, if we get attacked by Majins, we can always cut the session short.
Lately, I’ve had many opportunities to spar with Goki.
But today is different.
I want to get some hand-to-hand combat practice, so I recall Obsidian and summon Senki.
As expected, Jericho would be a tough opponent due to its size, so I’ll refrain from sparring with it.
And whenever I want to get some training with wooden swords, I can always count on Abyss for that.

Huh?
Telomere is a pass as well.
I have to leave no room for mistakes.

That’s right.

I have to leave no room for mistakes.

No room at all.

No thinking about the side benefits of practicing pinning techniques, okay?

What about the Majin attacks?
Those are going well.
However, keeping the hunting itself efficient isn’t easy.
Of course, this is because we’re dealing with three groups coming from three different directions.
The three Majins riding on Svadilfari Slave are especially troublesome.
This is only natural since they always bring a pack of Garms with them.
I use Invisibility to split them apart temporarily, but this is also not a very convenient thing to do when there are too many of them.
However, it’s not like I can kill them all with an AoE offensive spell.
Pitfall is only a temporary relief, as they quickly climb up the walls of the hole.
However, I’ve changed my fighting style.
Instead of attacking three groups at the same time, I’m doing two at a time.
This is to reduce the risk of defeating all of them as much as possible.

The special characteristics of the Summoned Monsters I added to my current lineup make this possible.
Telomere and Yukiwa give me peace of mind.
Having Jericho and Senki, who are the pillars of my vanguard, around is also a great thing.
Abyss has a powerful self-repair ability, but Garm’s attack power is quite high, so if even a few of them gang up on it, it’s likely to be in trouble.
But if it stays within Jericho and Senki’s line of defense, it will remain steady.

In other words, all I have to do is kill their Majins early.
In the end, that part was up to me.

Abyss’ STR increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose VIT as its second stat increase.

Alright, done!
All done!
So, what’s the rest of the Info I got just now?

What’s this Mark of the Spell Searcher Title?
It seems that it’s replaced Spell Library.
What were the conditions for that?
My guess is that leveling up my Dark Magic and Steam Magic has something to do with that.

And what is this 【Heroic Summoning】 that I can now learn?
It takes 20 Bonus Points to learn.
I currently have only 1 left.

That’s not good at all!
And my mood suddenly fell to the bottom of an abyss.

I might be able to hunt a little more, but I just don’t feel like it for now.
Let’s stop for now.
I need some time to recover.

I use Return Home to warp back to the Silent Bamboo Woods.
Aw man, this sucks!
Well, I guess it’s my own fault for being too eager to use my Bonus Points for other stuff!

I would like to do one thing before logging out.
Let’s get our 31st companion.
I can’t just let myself continue feeling depressed.
Let’s make an effort to make something nice happen.
So, what should I summon next?
There’s a Class Change destination that I’ve been curious about lately.
I want to give it a shot.

Kurama Oni Lv1 (New!)

What about his armor?
I still have Goki’s leftover gear from when he was a Rakshasa, and I think Kurama could use it after some adjustments.
It’s a little large now, but it looks like it’ll do just fine.

The problem is his weapon.
Well, should I give him the Scabbard Fish Sword for now?
I’ve always had it as a spare, but I’ve never really used it.
How about we take care of his other sword and buckler first thing tomorrow morning?

The purpose of this Kurama is clear.
I’m planning to make him a Gohou.
And of course, I want to see what’s beyond that line.

It doesn’t matter how much you enjoy growing them.
When you have 31 Summoned Monsters, there’s a lot of things to look forward to.

「Geheh.」

Kurama lets out a cry.
Yeah.
I feel like I haven’t felt this way in a while.
