Chapter 300 Part 1
Fiona and the others leave as well.
As its name suggests, the Silent Bamboo Woods remains quiet.
Only our party is moving.
And there was a big change here.
Some areas in this place that had been felled have been revived to some extent.
The Tree Magic spell, Grow Plant.
It’s been a while since I’ve used it.
Is it bamboo shoots after the rain?
No, wait, am I using it wrong?
Underground stems remain even in areas where bamboo has been cut down.
So I tried Grow Plant, and young bamboo shoots formed all at once.
It’s actually frightening.
It’s like watching a video in fast-forward, but it gives me the creeps.
So since I’m here already, I’ll use Grow Plant all over the place.
The bamboo is growing back nicely.
All I need for now is a place to hide.
But it seems that the original Silent Bamboo Woods has been almost completely restored.
Even with this, there will be no way to prevent those Garms from running around.
However, I think it’ll make it difficult for the Svadilfari Slaves to move around freely.
And it should be a complete hindrance for the Tri-horned Lizard.
Even Obsidian Beasts will have to destroy this bamboo in order to move towards me.
The Lesser Gryphons shouldn’t have anywhere to land either.
Still…
This probably isn’t all of the Bamboo Woods that the Kim Kui Slave has destroyed.
I have to be careful.
I search for hiding spots in the Bamboo Woods.
That’s a good one.
It’s a place that resembles a small mountain.
The bamboo here is about 20 meters (or about 60 feet) tall.
This bamboo is also in perfect condition.
And this place is close to the center of the area portal.
That Kim Kui Slave is big.
I want to hide in as high a place as possible.
What are my trusty party members doing?
Kiyohime moves through the Bamboo Woods as if she were flying.
That’s right.
Although she’s actually just moving from one bamboo to another, it’s best to describe the way she’s moving as flying.
The same goes for Modulus.
It looks like she’s running through the air.
She moves while making great use of her threads.
This is also very nice to watch.
There are some monsters I have fought here before.
Huashes.
Like Kiyohime, they used to move through the Bamboo Woods as if flying.
But then, that happened.
As soon as the event started, things started to unfold.
I had never thought things would turn out this way!
Obsidian is flying around as if checking our surroundings, and Couturier was doing something on the ground.
What about Rig?
It’s still attached to my body.
Well then.
I got a full belly off my portable meals.
Shall we hide now?
Obsidian, Modulus, and Kiyohime are lurking above the Bamboo Woods.
I was hiding underground at the roots of the Bamboo Woods.
That’s right, underground.
Rig and Couturier are here with me.
How did we get here?
Couturier has dug this hole.
Is she of a species that builds nests underground?
It’s a mystery.
I can hear the sound of something passing by.
And the sound of breathing.
There are several of these things, maybe in large numbers.
But they don’t seem to notice our presence.
One by one they pass by,
The entrance to the hole is well hidden.
But the temptation to peek out and see what’s going on outside is quite strong.
Well, I guess I’m doing great by not giving in to that temptation.
Now I hear an unfamiliar sound.
A very low frequency sound.
And a vibration.
It’s clearly seen from the fact that monsters are invading.
It’s safe to assume that this place has already lost its function as an area portal.
In fact, I can no longer use the area portal menu.
What about the vibration?
It’s coming closer.
And then it stops.
The Summoned Monsters lurking above the Bamboo Woods are a little nervous, but they don’t seem to be in any danger.
Hmm.
But the sound of something else passing by?
It gets Obsidian and the others a little nervous, but not by much.
That’s right.
I don’t like waiting around, but let’s give it some time.
《【Hide】Level Up!》
《【Conceal】Level Up!》
They’ve gone up!
Even though I’ve been doing nothing but staying hidden.
Wait, not really.
I haven’t felt any more vibrations since then.
Did they stop moving?
It is also possible that they passed through the area portal.
Shall we check it out?
The clock says it’s 1:20 PM as I come out of the hole.
What’s the situation like around me?
I don’t feel like anything has changed.
Though this can’t be helped, since all I can see is bamboo.
What if we move to a place overlooking the central part of the Bamboo Woods?
I’ve asked myself if there wouldn’t be some huge rock I can use?
I can tell by using 【Identify】.
This one here is the Kim Kui Slave.
It’s its shell.
The Kim Kui Slave is enshrined in the Bamboo Woods.
There are no monsters around to defend it.
Well, there actually are.
They seem to have assembled on a spot previously trampled over by the Kim Kui Slave.
It doesn’t seem like they’re paying attention to me.
They’re all set to Passive.
No Lesser Gryphons in the sky either.
Even if there were any, there would be no chance for them to see us from above.
Nothing flying above this Bamboo Forest can see what’s inside it.
Hurray for carefully designed places.
So, shall we do this?
Shall we tackle this Kim Kui Slave?
I climb onto its shell.
The view from here is spectacular.
The air feels so nice up here.
I guess this is what the feeling of being refreshed after climbing a mountain is like.
But it’s also somehow different.
Clinging to the edge of the turtle’s shell, I climb towards the top.
It’s definitely like climbing those wooden walls with ropes like they do in military training.
It’s really hard too.
If it wasn’t for Modulus and Kiyohime’s help, I might have fallen a couple of times already.
Well, I do have Rig with me as insurance, though.
What does the tail side of Kim Kui Slave look like?
It’s terrible.
The destruction the Kim Kui Slave has left in its wake can be clearly seen in this Bamboo Woods.
And its swarm of monsters have started to form a group.
They don’t seem to notice me.
Yeah.
So, does this mean that the Kim Kui Slave is, in a sense, separated from the monsters that follow it?
I wasn’t expecting that.
There is another group of monsters far off to the west.
It’s probably another Kim Kui Slave.
Let’s hurry up here.
I’m probably no longer able to use spells or weapon arts.
In fact, even trying to cast a simple spell like Call Monster fails.
Those at the turtle’s head must have something to do with this.
Those Majins.
And there’s three of them.
We’ll defeat all three of them with a surprise attack.
I’ll disregard the Kim Kui Slave for now.
That’s what’s on the menu for today.
Modulus travels through the net she has woven, and this time descends towards the head side.
Is she on the head already?
She has to be.
Okay. Obsidian and Couturier confirm this.
I’m carefully going down.
It’s definitely harder to climb down this thing than it is to climb it up!
But has this effort paid off?
There are three Majins sitting on the turtle’s head.
It looks like they are talking to each other about something.
It doesn’t seem like they’ve noticed we’re here.
The Kim Kui Slave appears to have retracted its head about halfway into its shell.
In my hand I have the Needleflish Spear.
I’m putting attack power first, and won’t regret it if I miss.
We jump on them at the same time.
The Exorcising Guru is mine.
Modulus and Kiyohime are in charge of blocking the movements of the other two Majins.
Obsidian and Couturier attack from the air.
Rig is planning to dive into the Cursed Master with me.
Alright, let’s finish this quickly.
《【Climbing】Level Up!》
I used my Black Rope.
And my Joint Lock skills.
But this is what Levels Up?
I was able to kill the Exorcising Guru almost silently using the Black Rope.
It went up in flames spectacularly.
This is completely unsuitable for assassinations.
But it did its job well enough.
The Exorcising Guru had been quite persistent.
It ended up putting up a lot of resistance to being tied up with my Black Rope.
I immobilized it with my arms using a Joint Lock technique and then put the Black Rope around its neck.
It was a perfect strangulation.
What about the other two?
Kiyohime wrapped around the Beast Master’s entire body and crushed it to death.
Has it died happily, having perished in the arms of a woman?
No, the entire job had been done by her lower body, that is, her snake half.
The Dark Clown was caught in Modulus’s spider net, and Rig jumped at its face to cover it completely.
This is too cruel.
Has it suffocated to death?
No matter how you look at it, it’s a horrible way to die.
By the way…
The battlefield itself had been the top of the Kim Kui Slave’s head.
But the Kim Kui Slave itself is still Passive.
Its eyes are still closed.
Hey.
Are you really ok with this?
I’ve also thought of an escape plan, though.
Well, is that okay?
I can also use Call Monster again.
It makes sense, since we’ve defeated these Majins.
It’s also possible that there are other Exorcising Priests to replace this Exorcising Guru, but I don’t care about that now.
I’m satisfied with just reducing the number of Majins by 3.
Using Modulus’ threads, I climb all the way down to the ground.
The Kim Kui Slave’s face is at close range.
It’s sleeping comfortably though.
Shall I try hitting it lightly with a mace?
It’s really tempting…
Let’s not act rashly here.
I can’t afford to do such a thing at this moment.
Oh well.
Good night.
Then I move back into the Bamboo Woods.
What about being a nuisance to this group of monsters?
I’m letting that go.
It’s a little tough right now.
I don’t want the turtle to wake up.
It seems like there are still some Majins out there, so I’d like to prioritize taking them down.
But let’s take this chance to retreat.
I guess I should be satisfied with just getting rid of an Exorcising Guru, which seems to be of a higher rank than those Exorcising Priests.
In addition to this, a certain emotion was also born in me.
It was fun.
It’s like that feeling kids have, right after they’ve successfully pulled off a prank.
I guess that’s the kind of feeling PKs go after.
I understand that now.

Thanks for the treat.
