Chapter 303 Part 1
I’ve logged in.
The time is 5:50 AM.
It’s still dark all around.
I have a feeling that the weather is going to be bad.
Should I use the Flashlight spell?
The best part of this is that the Instant Portal still stands.
As expected, not even the Majins have come this far.
Well then, let’s get ready to depart as usual.
Let’s get some work done while I summon Bunraku to prepare breakfast.
This work consists of working on a new weapon.
What I’ll be making are tonfas.
I’m thinking about taking a wooden mold and trying to make one out of Petrified Wood.
I’d also like to change their shape a little to strengthen the joint, but the mold comes first.
I don’t think I can go all the way to getting the weapons themselves finished in one sitting.
Yesterday’s battle with the Undead was interesting.
Well, I haven’t fought the big guys yet, so I can’t say all of it was fun.
And there’s something else on my mind.
Hitting with the Petrified Wood Staff does the job just fine.
It’s very consistent.
However, I can’t expect it to have the same destructive power as the Snow Beast Mace.
Yesterday, I tried using the Snow Beast Mace against the Undead, but it still requires some figuring out on my part.
Though this is mainly in terms of defense.
I tried going with an irregular dual wielding on the mace on one hand and one of the Tonfas of Torture on the other one, but as expected, it’s starting to feel insufficient.
It also feels very light.
Even if it is heavier, it will not be difficult to handle.
That’s how it has to feel even without having any buffs on, that is, in its natural state.
That being the case, I’d like to make some tonfas that are a little heavier than what I already have.
Basically, I think just as heavy as the Petrified Wood Staff should be fine.
The creation procedure is similar to that of the Petrified Wood Staff and the Lion Sage’s Lance, and then using the Shape spell.
First of all, let’s start with the mold.
I devote myself to cutting wood using my woodworking tools.
Shortly after that, Bunraku finishes preparing breakfast.
This probably should be enough to get the basics started.
Hmm, how strange.
I wish I could say I was satisfied after finishing my work and enjoying the meal Bunraku had prepared for me, but…
It’s still dark all around.
I can see the night sky and the moonlight.
Hey…
What time is it?
6:30 AM.
No matter how you look at it, it’s 6:30 AM.
And yet, it still looks like we’re in the middle of the night..
What is this place?
Hmm.
I want to confirm Aotsuki’s true value.
I’ve been looking forward to it, but what is this?
Does this mean that this state of “last night” will keep going on?
It’s quite possible.
So, what should we do about the lineup?
I’ll choose Obsidian, Senki, Shishiku, Raibun, and Yukiwa.
The only difference from last night’s lineup is that I’ve replaced Kotohogi with Yukiwa.
Were it not for this apparent state of perpetual night, it would be strange to see Yukiwa with us this early in the morning.
But as long as this night continues, and as long as our opponents are all Undead, Yukiwa shall stay with us.
If that’s the case, I’ll let Shishiku and Raibun lick the bones of the Undead we hunt.
I feel like they were doing that last night, too.
Time to exit the Instant Portal.
How’s Yukiwa?
I don’t see any abnormalities.
And when I use Call Monster?
I found them.
More Undead.
Nothing has changed from last night.
I can’t see anything odd about the current hour either.
This is truly a state of perpetual night, huh?
I guess that’s what this is.
In other words, this is pretty much a paradise for Undead, right?
Let’s head south.
The center of this S2W4 Map is still far away.
There’s a possibility that we’ll be there past noon as we fight our way through.
After all, there are a lot of Undead.
Too many of them, in fact.
Even with Enervate Undead, it seems like they won’t be easy to deal with.
Well, at least it’s good for helping us earn some more experience points.
Still, depending on how the current Event progresses, I might want to stop exploring and go back.
However…
Won’t it be difficult to circumvent them?
If that’s the case, let’s just take the shortest path.
A series of battles against the Undead, huh?
My weapon of choice is the brittle Snow Beast Mace.
And I’m using one tonfa to cover my defense.
Let’s go with this irregular dual-wielding style.
I could always switch to the Petrified Wood Staff and use Intelligence Attack, but I think this is what I want to do today.
Which one would be more effective against the Undead?
《Summoned Monster『Yukiwa』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
Is everything going well?
Yes, things are going well.
That’s true in terms of gaining experience points.
However, we haven’t really made much progress in terms of covering distance.
Yukiwa’s AGI increased automatically upon leveling up…
That’s a weird one.
Let’s choose DEX as its second stat increase.
Yukiwa Mist Lv6 → Lv7 (↑1)
DEX 5 (↑1)
AGI 5 (↑1)
INT 22
STR 1
VIT 3
SPI 20
Skills
Flight Shapeshift Physical Attack Permeability MP Absorption [Slight] Dark Attribute
Water Attribute
The battle just now was a little tense.
Our opponent was a Skeleton Mammoth, after all.
But, you know…
I was surprised to see that Senki dared to break its forelegs and then pulled them out.
He didn’t make it out unscathed, though.
His Self-healing ability lets him be a little bolder.
I can’t try to do something like that myself.
I just don’t have the body size.
We’re not done yet.
There is still a long way to go.
As I check the surrounding area with Call Monster…
The number of Undeads doesn’t seem to be decreasing at all!
《【Club】 Level Up!》
《【Dual Wield】 Level Up!》
How’s this irregular dual wielding style working out?
It feels good.
It let me take down this Skeleton Mammoth with relative ease.
How, you ask?
By crushing all of its legs together.
Without giving it any time to regenerate, I used these weapons to crush the bones in its chest and head, and then we destroyed the soul-like balls of fire within.
This works.
But let’s change weapons here after all.
I’d also like to try using my Petrified Wood Staff against these Skeleton Mammoths.
Of course, this includes using my new Intelligence Attack.
Without the Seal Attribute spell, the Snow Beast Mace isn’t as efficient.
I don’t have any problems against other Undead opponents, but…
This is all because I’ve been using the Seal Attribute spell.
I’d like to avoid doing extra work.
If it weren’t for the current Event, this is a place where one can earn quite a lot of experience points…
It’s a shame.
I want to stay here for a long time!
The item rewards are small considering the amount of work we have to pour in on these battles, but the sheer number of monsters you can slaughter here is the biggest difference.
There’s a lot of them.
It seems like we’re actually turning a nice profit here, but…
Surprisingly, we haven’t gotten any Info screens yet?
Was I being too naive with my estimations?
《Summoned Monster『Obsidian』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
Obsidian has been steadily producing good results against the Undead.
He’ll simply crush the skull of any Skeleton-type enemies.
He’s mostly useful for dealing with the Skeleton Sorcerers who tend to stay in the back.
He’s the one with the highest mobility in our current lineup.
Obsidian’s AGI increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose STR as his second stat increase.
Obsidian Mystic Eye Lv10 → Lv11 (↑1)
DEX 15
AGI 25 (↑1)
INT 24
STR 16 (↑1)
VIT 15
SPI 24
Skills
Peck Silent Flight Farsight Night Vision Ambush Sense Danger Divine Hearing
Wind Attribute Water Attribute
Let’s keep this up.
The reason I chose STR was because I want to increase the damage he deals as much as possible, even if only a little bit more.
For now, at least.
That’s right.
《Summoned Monster『Yukiwa』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
This Undead hunt isn’t making things go all that well for us.
Don’t get me wrong, we’re getting a lot of hunting done.
However, this is a trap that doesn’t allow us to cover any distance whatsoever.
It’s too tempting.
Yukiwa’s SPI increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose INT as its second stat increase.
Yukiwa Mist Lv7 → Lv8 (↑1)
DEX 5
AGI 5
INT 23 (↑1)
STR 1
VIT 3
SPI 21 (↑1)
Skills
Flight Shapeshift Physical Attack Permeability MP Absorption [Slight] Dark Attribute
Water Attribute
《The Summoned Monster 『Yukiwa』has cleared the conditions for Class Change!》
《Please go to the Status Menu to access the Class Change options》
Let’s do this immediately.
I’m skipping the Fusion Identification part and going straight into the Class Change menu!
Yukiwa Mist Lv8 → Wraith Lv1 (New!)
DEX 5
AGI 5
INT 25 (↑2)
STR 1
VIT 3
SPI 22 (↑1)
Skills
Flight Shapeshift Physical Attack Permeability MP Absorption [Small] (New!)
Dark Attribute Water Attribute
Well then.
The time is 11:40 AM.
Let’s have lunch.
It’s still dark all over, though!
After deploying an Instant Portal, I recall Yukiwa and summon Bunraku.
Let’s have it prepare food as usual.
What should I do while I wait?
How about a sparring session with Senki?
Let’s better not.
Right now, my priority is working on the tonfa molds.
Instead, let’s have Shishiku and Raibun spar with each other.
However, special abilities will be off limits.
Although there are some differences, at the root of their shapes, it’s a lion versus a tiger.
Despite there being a difference in level, I’d still like them to compete with one another.
As soon as we finished eating, we set out.
What about the molds?
There are still some finishing touches to be done, but I’d say they’re mostly done.
The sparring session between Shishiku and Raibun ended with a 4-3 victory for Shihiku.
Well, it makes sense, doesn’t it?
When two beasts fight each other, the outcome is decided in a single pounce, which ended up trivializing the whole session.
In any case, I can’t help but stop working on my molds.
Both of them are terrifyingly strong!
Let’s review our lineup before we leave.
I recall Bunraku.
To replace it, I’ll summon Telomere.
There are no enemies here that can have their blood sucked for her to recover her MP bar.
But it still makes sense to have her with us.
We’re almost to the central part of the Map, where the area portal would be.
Is this a boneyard?
It looks like a graveyard of sorts.
The bones of different kinds of monsters are piled up everywhere.
There is no actual order to this.
They’re just randomly piled up all over the place.
Without a doubt, this is an area portal.
Nothing is displayed on the wide area map.
I also use Sense Magic to take a look around.
Where is it?
Where is the soul?
There it is.
There, on top of a pile of bone remains even taller than the rest.
Just as expected.
We’re dealing with the Undead, after all.
I give Enchanted Light to everyone in preparation for what’s to come.
Well then, everyone.
Let’s go, shall we?
