Chapter 328 Part 1
328
After recalling Apnea and Outerreef, I use Return Home.
With it, I teleport to Defense Valley.
First thing to do is have dinner before starting the night hunt.
So let’s summon Bunraku so that it can prepare dinner.
There is lots of fun to be had at the sea, but I’m also curious about the area around Defense Valley.
So let’s continue our exploration here tonight.
It would be a good idea to set those equipment creation requests in motion tomorrow.
Well then.
Let’s recall everyone other than Bunraku and settle on the rest of the lineup.
I’ll go with Volff, Obsidian, Jericho, and Raibun.
So what will I be doing while waiting for the meal?
I’ll be working on a lance.
I’ve been wondering if it would be possible to make something that can be used as a jousting spear using an Ice Flying Dragon’s Needle.
After all, it’s longer than the Lion Sage’s Lance.
In terms of balance, I would probably choose a longer handle for it.
I have a mold for that and all.
What if I cover its tip with a coating made with Petrified Wood?
The weapon’s center of gravity will naturally shift to the tip side.
This will increase its power, but will also create an imbalance which will make it very difficult to wield it steadily with one hand.
So that’s going to require some adjustments to be made.
Should I add weight to its butt end so that it balances out?
Although increasing the overall weight too much will create other problems.
Well, I guess I won’t know until I make it.
It’s a prototype, after all!
【Weapon: Joust】 Snow Wyvern’s Lance+ Grade B- Rarity 6
AP+29 M・AP+0 Destructive Power 3+ Weight 6+ Durability 500
Magical Item Lower AGI chance [Medium] Poison chance [Small]
A jousting spear made using an Ice Flying Wyvern Needle for its tip.
It has no blade, so it cannot be used for cutting.
In addition to dealing damage, it can also inflict Poison and lower its target’s AGI.
[Custom]
The Ice Flying Wyvern Needle at its tip has been reinforced with Petrified Wood.
It uses Hell’s Latch for its handle, so it contributes little to magic activation.
It uses Ice Flying Wyvern’s Claws on its butt end for balance.
Alright.
It’s just a prototype, okay?
This weapon is definitely powerful.
Make no mistake.
But this weight is a problem!
Let’s try holding it with one hand without any strengthening spells boosting my stats…
Yeah.
It’s very difficult to keep it in place!
What if I try holding the handle by your side.
No way.
I can’t swing this!
It’s too heavy!
Well, maybe this can be sorted out by using strengthening spells?
I guess I’ll just have to try.
Besides, this Snow Wyvern’s Lance has its merits as well.
How does it compare to the Lion Sage’s Lance?
It has a longer reach.
In other words, it’s easier to get the first strike on the opponent with it.
It has superior attack power and destructive power.
But it’s also clearly heavier.
Not even the Lion Sage’s Lance can be used with complete freedom.
The risk of the weapon being the one controlling the wielder is always there.
As far as special effects go…
How does the effect of inflicting Lower DEF compare to inflicting Paralysis?
Of course, Paralysis is preferable.
Although the activation chance of Lower DEF seems to be higher.
Well, it’s fine.
A certain aspiration is emerging.
I’m wondering if I can use this one in underwater combat?
I can almost see myself riding on Apnea’s back and holding the Snow Wyvern’s Lance against my side.
The Lion Sage’s Lance might not be long enough for this to be effective, but what about the Snow Wyvern’s Lance?
It might just work.
In any case, it would be a good idea to try out different things.
What’s for dinner today?
It’s the fish Nias was able to procure during our earlier hunt.
Simply grilled with salt.
However, it’s also made with herbs.
I wonder where Bunraku gets its cooking recipes from…
It’s a mystery.
A delicious mystery.
After finishing the meal, I recall Bunraku.
Then I summon Telomere.
Yesterday’s tough battle had exhausted her quite a lot, but she’s now fully recovered.
I still don’t know the full story of how things are outside the area portal.
All I know is that the terrain is on a mountainside and is likely to continue to be a wasteland.
I can’t skimp on exploration, but I want to improve our fighting power as much as possible.
What is the final lineup?
It’s Volff, Obsidian, Jericho, Telomere, and Raibun.
There’s plenty of fighting power here already.
It’s time to get serious.
And what about my weapons of choice?
Javelin, kukris, and a staff.
Once I have a general idea of the monsters’ behavioral patterns, I’ll try switching back and forth between them and try various things with them
I want to check the performance of my new equipment.
Specifically, the Snow Wyvern’s Estoc and Pike.
I wonder how well they will do…

Oh, come on!
I wanted to check what new monsters I could find!
Why are these guys the first thing I come across?
And there’s even three of them…
Oh well.
I think this is the first time we have intercepted these monsters in a ground battle.
No doubt it will be a hard fight.
But that means that I won’t get bored, right?
So, was it a hard fight?
It felt like we struggled there for a moment.
Jericho’s traits are really reliable.
However, that doesn’t necessarily make them effective against monsters attacking from the air.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that they can’t be counter attacked.
Taking advantage of their weak spots to drop them to the ground opens up a lot of possibilities.
The same goes for Volff, but Volff’s speed means he’s much more time-efficient at it.
Jericho also managed to finish off one of the Snow Wyverns he had rendered prone on the ground with one of his spells, but couldn’t do the same for the other two in time.
Well, it’s still okay because I ended up taking care of those myself.
So I guess I should keep on investing in Jericho’s AGI after all, huh?
I’m once again thinking that’s the way to go.

Huh?
There’s a Lesser Demon here?
And there’s a new monster for me as well:
Demon’s Beast.
A monkey?
A dog?
They obviously have a demon-like appearance.
But they don’t seem to be that strong.
Though they do seem to be more evil-looking than the Lesser Demon.
No, rather than evil, the impression they give off is that of being sly.
There are some differences between each of them.
For one, their Attributes.
But also there are some slight differences in appearance.
The problem here is their numbers.
There are three types of Demon’s Beasts, for a total of six individuals.
There’s only one Lesser Demon, and it’s wielding a large scythe.
Lesser Demons come in both male and female forms.
This one’s a male.
And it seems pretty robust.
Well…
How will this go?
《【Javelin】Level Up!》
Jericho is doing great this time around.
The Demon’s Beasts are quick.
But not too quick.
They can deliver a flurry of attacks and their fighting style is similar to Oma’s.
A Bite, followed by an attack using their special abilities.
Moreover, they can even inflict the Poison status abnormality.
I got poisoned in this battle.
Volff and Obsidian too.
That’s right.
Volff is very quick.
And Obsidian is always in mid-air.
And yet, the Demon’s Beast managed to poison them as well.
This goes to show one of many ways in which these monsters were troublesome to deal with.
But Jericho doesn’t mind.
It’s unaffected by Poison.
Special attacks don’t work that much against it.
And it can retaliate by liquefying part of its own body to restrain the monsters.
It had tried to do a similar thing against the Snow Wyverns from earlier, but it wasn’t able to restrain them completely, perhaps due to them being too large.
But these Demon’s Beasts aren’t that big.
Once Jericho managed to capture one of them, it wouldn’t let them escape.
However, there’s that…
The difficulty level of this Map is maybe equivalent to about 6 squares away from Remut?
That’s how it feels after seeing the Lesser Demon.
Well, maybe it’s 7 squares because there are quite a few Demon’s Beasts
Either way, I think it’s somewhat challenging.
So, can I make good earnings here?
It would be troublesome if not.
Because there are guys like this one here as well…
Lesser Dragon – Dark Lv.2
Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground, Mid-Air
Dark Attribute Fire Attribute Earth Attribute Breath
We’re close to the Dragons’ lair, so it’s not surprising to find such a monster here.
But isn’t this a really dangerous one?
I’ve fought Lesser Dragons at the Twelve Divine Generals’ place.
Would this one be similar to those?
It’s called a Lesser Dragon – Dark…
Its body is covered with slightly glossy black scales.
Its horns are also twisted in a strange way.
So, how about it?
We’ve also leveled up quite a bit since the Twelve Divine Generals, so this one shouldn’t be that tough of an opponent, right?
It was a tough opponent.
It was definitely different.
This cave-like narrow space made a significant difference.
The monster wasn’t able to hit us continuously from mid-air since it wasn’t able to keep flying for too long.
But still, it was constantly on the move, alternating between an airborne and ground position.
Honestly, there were many dangerous moments.
Even though it’s a Lesser species, it’s still a Dragon.
A formidable enemy.
It’s a completely different type of monster, but in comparison, it’s a much tougher opponent than things like Ogres or Trolls.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to consider it as difficult to fight as a Spriggan.
I’m sorry, though.
More than half of the battle techniques shown by the Lesser Dragons at the Twelve Divine Generals’ place are not effective here.
Just being able to fly makes a huge difference!

Thanks.
