Chapter 335 Part 1

335

Bad news…
Or good news?
There was a slight time difference between these events, but how should I take this?

My Tokkosho was destroyed during a battle with four Deva Emperors.
Then, at the end of that battle, I picked up another Tokkosho.
Hmm.
I guess nothing’s changed?

But the fact that I was able to pick up a new Tokkosho is important.
That’s right.
The drop chance seems low, but I was still able to pick one up, so that’s undeniable.
I’ve set my eyes on a good goal.
Obviously, that is to obtain yet another Tokkosho to keep as a spare.
My motivation is on the rise, you know?

Although these are Deva Emperors, they are very different from the ones found in the cave in the W2 Map south of here.
Those must be at least Level 1.
They won’t be like the Deva Kings.
And yet, they don’t only wield Tokkoshos.
Sometimes they fly and attack from mid-air.
They use their floating scarf-like things.
Aren’t those called hagoromo?
Well, as long as I can catch them into my Joint Lock, those are not a big deal.

I wonder if I can get one of those hagoromo scarves from them?
I’m curious about that, but….

It also feels strange.
I didn’t feel this back in the Oni Map, but here it feels like I’m destroying Buddha statues one after another.
Truly the deed of a man-eating fiend.
It feels a bit emotionally uncomfortable.
Especially with the doujis.
There are eight doujis, but only one of them will appear.
They’ll commonly show up alongside Dokkakus and Gohous, but the numbers of those aren’t set in stone.
I’m still fine with dealing with the doujis that have angry-looking faces, but…
Some of them have a pure expression on their faces instead.
I feel particularly sorry for the Kongara-doujis.
Well, it’s too late for that now, right?

Since I’m in a good mood, I’ve changed my weapon.
I’m not using the Lesser Sword Dragon’s Short Sword.
Instead, I’m using the Black Rope.
I’m also trying to use the Tokkosho to deliver the final blow.
Yes, I’m back to the style of fighting against the Deva Emperors.
It’s mainly focused on hand-to-hand combat.
I’m using a lot more throwing attacks, but I’ve returned to the basics.
Yeah.
This definitely feels good.

《【Rope Arts】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Peptide』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

HM.
The consecutive battles are going well.
Of course there are dangerous situations, but they are not as bad as when fighting Spriggans.
This is fine, it’ll work out nicely.

Peptide’s VIT increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose STR as his second stat increase.

Peptide Desert Scorpion Lv4 → Lv5 (↑1)
 DEX 22
 AGI 18
 INT 7
 STR 22 (↑1)
 VIT 22 (↑1)
 SPI 7

 Skills
Pincer Strike Sting Evade Conceal Hide Ambush
 Deadly Poison Fire Resistance

The synergy between Goukame and Peptide seems quite good.
Goukame takes care of the defense while Peptide uses his poison to whittle down enemies.
When facing head-on, Peptide’s tail attacks from above.
Launching an ambush on the Deva Emperors is tough due to their size, but it’s still doable.
Both the Dokkakus and Gohous can be afflicted with poison with relative ease.
The same goes for Lion-dogs A-gyo and Un-gyo.
The efficiency of the Peptide’s Deadly Poison is quite good.
Well, it also relies on Goukame’s defensive capabilities.

Peptide is doing well, but let’s switch him out now.
I want to level up other Summoned Monsters as well.
Let’s recall him and summon Kurama in his place.
The enemies here are of a higher rank than him.
Will he level up at a good pace?

《【Evade】 Level Up!》
《【Block】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Heather』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Heather and Tigris have probably defeated Dokkakus and Gohous than the others.
This is especially true for Heather, whose ability to launch huge AoE attacks from mid-air is quite significant.
Well, that’s why I need to be careful about her MP bar being drained too quickly.

Heather’s INT increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose AGI as her second stat increase.

Heather Silky Lv10 → Lv11 (↑1)
 DEX 9
 AGI 27 (↑1)
 INT 26 (↑1)
 STR 9
 VIT 9
 SPI 28

 Skills
Flight Levitation Magical Resistance [Medium] MP Recovery [Medium] Wind Attribute
Earth Attribute Water Attribute Lightning Attribute

Heather’s MP bar is halfway depleted.
But I’d like her to hang on a little more.
After all, there should be a Class Change waiting for her at her next level up.
So I want her to earn as many experience points as possible.

By the way, Heather seems to have grown again.
She’s definitely getting bigger little by little.
I wonder how she’ll turn out after her next level up and subsequent Class Change?
I’m looking forward to it.

《Summoned Monster『Tigris』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Okay.
I’ve come to understand quite a bit.
It’s about True Fighting Spirit.

It’s essential when fighting Deva Emperors.
If I want to have a hand-to-hand combat against them, I’ll definitely need to use that skill.

But it’s unnecessary for the pair of Fuutenki and Raitenki.
Rather, I should prioritize using spells like Gravity Prison against them.
As long as I can chain them to the ground, I can manage to beat them somehow.
However, I am afraid of being afflicted with Paralysis because I will always get hit by lightning.
Resist Thunder is a must.

True Fighting Spirit is not necessary against Dokkakus and Gohous.
But I’ve given up on enjoying hand-to-hand combat with them.
There are too many of them.
I’ll focus only on dealing with the douji that appears alongside them.
It’s not like I can ignore them, but let’s exclude them from the enjoyable opponents.

Oh, I almost forgot.
I have a Stats screen to work on.
Tigris’ AGI increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose VIT as his second stat increase.

Tigris Sturmtiger Lv9 → Lv10 (↑1)
 DEX 12
 AGI 27 (↑1)
 INT 12
 STR 26
 VIT 26
 SPI 12 (↑1)

 Skills
Bite Roar Sense Danger Night Vision Conceal Wind Attribute

Alright.
Level ups are coming one after another.
Saying this sounds weird, but I’m truly grateful for the number of opponents so far.
It’s a series of consecutive battles.
But that’s good.

Having said that, I can’t just make them fight forever, right?
Tigris’ MP bar is almost depleted.
He’s been using his special abilities against the Dokkakus and Gohou that accompany these doujis quite frequently.
That’s why his MP has gotten so low.
The same goes for Heather.
Her MP bar is at around 10%.

Time for them to take a break.
Let’s recall Heather and Tigris.
And summon Taylor and Setsui in their place.
The time is exactly 4 PM.
There’s still plenty of time.
How much stronger can we get by the end of the day?

 Cluster Mallow Lv.7
 Flower Spirit Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground Tree Attribute

 Sunset Hibiscus Lv.7
 Flower Spirit Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground Tree Attribute

 Common Mallow Lv.7
 Flower Spirit Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground Tree Attribute

 Hollyhock Lv.7
 Flower Spirit Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground Tree Attribute

Oh?
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Flower Spirits.
Is it common for all of them to wear monk robes?
Common Mallow and Hollyhock look like Buddhist nuns, and are wielding naginatas.
Are the other two unarmed?
Well, that’s fine.

How should I gauge that Sunset Hibiscus’ strength?

What does being strong mean?
What does being scary mean?
Those are the things I’m thinking about right now.
But why?
The reason is that Sunset Hibiscus.
I may have initiated a hand-to-hand battle against it and won, but I don’t want to deal with them anymore!

And why is that?
That’s because that one releases a glue-like sticky substance like glue from all over its body.
Is this some kind of joke?

I’ve added it to my Flower Spirit blacklist.
Narcissus Moscatos, also known as the perverted Flower Spirit.
And Sunset Hibiscus, also known as the sticky Flower Spirit.

I don’t want to fight either of them ever again!
There’s a different reason for that for each of them, though.

I tried looking it up on an external link.
I see, it’s called tororo aoi in Japan.
I remember it now.
I’d like to keep my distance from that one if I ever have to fight it again..

《【Kick】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Kick】weapon art【Hook Kick】!》
《Summoned Monster『Goukame』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Goukame is a simple Summoned Monster.
His role as a wall certainly makes him quite simple, but…
It seems like he has earned quite a lot of experience points.
And he’s now leveled up!
I don’t know why, but I wonder if the increase in higher-level opponents is influencing this?
Is this a good trend?
Or should I consider it unsettling?
I can’t say for sure.

Goukamei’s VIT increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose SPI as his second stat increase.

Goukame Forest Tortoise Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)
 DEX 4
 AGI 10
 INT 20
 STR 20
 VIT 33 (↑1)
 SPI 25 (↑1)

 Skills
Bite Strong Defense Magical Resistance [Small] MP Recovery [Small]
Earth Attribute Water Attribute Tree Attribute

Goukame’s MP bar is also in a tough spot.
It’s below 20%.
Right.
If I were to switch him out, it’ll be hard to find a good replacement for him as a wall.
It would have to be either Jericho or Senki.
It’s a shame that either of those will turn this lineup into something not very in line with the idea of raising our overall fighting power…
But I have no choice here.
I recall Goukame.
Let’s summon Jericho.

By the way, this new Hook Kick I learned…
I can do this normally.
I don’t see the point of making it into a weapon art!
Let’s ignore it.

《Summoned Monster『Taylor』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Was it really good that our levels are increasing?
The appearance of Level 10 Deva Emperors is probably a good thing in terms of experience points.
However…
I can’t say the same in terms of getting items.

A sumo loincloth…
Yeah.
It’s not that I’m dissatisfied.
But, you know…
I really want another Tokkosho.
Things aren’t going as planned.

Taylor’s STR increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose DEX as his second stat increase.

Taylor Karkinos Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)
 DEX 12 (↑1)
 AGI 12
 INT 6
 STR 37 (↑1)
 VIT 31
 SPI 6

 Skills
Pincer Strike Aquatic Water Attribute Earth Resistance

Now then.
Should I have Taylor return here?
Let’s summon Bunraku.
No, it’s still early for dinner; I want to have it fight in the rear.
In my current lineup, Jericho is in the front lines.
Even if Bunraku is positioned in the rear, they should be very consistent as a fighting force together.
The pair of Fuutenki and Raitenki should be a good matchup for its bow and arrows.
Don’t I have to let Bunraku do some fighting once in a while?

《【Punch】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Punch】weapon art【Short Strike】!》
《A Skill Link has been established! The weapon art【Cross-Counter】 can now be obtained!》
《Summoned Monster『Kurama』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Various amusing martial arts have appeared.
Short Punch?
It sounds like something out of a manga, not something you can easily do in real life.
Cross-Counter does sound convincing enough, though.

Ah, that’s right, Kurama.
I can’t neglect his screen.
Kurama’s DEX increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose AGI as his second stat increase.

Kurama Gohou Lv4 → Lv5 (↑1)
 DEX 23 (↑1)
 AGI 20 (↑1)
 INT 10
 STR 23
 VIT 23
 SPI 10

 Skills
Sword Dagger Two-handed Spear Buckler Block Evade Hide Night Vision

However, there was more to the Info screen.
After all, we’ve just finished dealing with a series of high-level opponents.

《Summoned Monster『Setsui』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

Setsui isn’t restraining herself at all.
Maybe that’s why she’s been earning so many experience points.
Even though the battle itself wasn’t that long, her MP bar is already on the verge of depletion.

Setsui’s VIT increased automatically upon leveling up.
That’s a weird one.
I’ll choose INT as her second stat increase.

Setsui Succubus Lv5 → Lv6 (↑1)
 DEX 7
 AGI 26
 INT 26 (↑1)
 STR 7
 VIT 8 (↑1)
 SPI 27

 Skills
Flight Levitation Echolocation Magical Resistance [Medium] MP Recovery [Medium]
Shapeshift Spacetime Attribute Light Attribute Dark Attribute Fire Attribute Earth Attribute

Switching Setsui out and continuing the hunt might be a good idea, but maybe it’s time to take it easy?
Somehow, it’s already 6:30 PM.
Time for a meal.

Let’s set up an Instant Portal.
Oh right, I should change my lineup into something better suited for the night.
Well, time to recall Setsui, isn’t it?
I’ll summon Modulus and let her continue spinning yarn.
Let’s think carefully about what to do with our lineup for the night.
