Chapter 338 Part 1

338

I thought I was used to facing Fuutenkis and Raitenkis, but it turns out being in mid-air makes things a little different.
While thinking about that, I head south.
And before I know it, I’m in the W6 Map.
This time, I’m being welcomed by some Gryphons.
Do I have any objections to this?
Of course not.
I’ll just destroy them all with my Lion Sage’s Lance.

By the way, Kotohogi’s Evil Eye…
Somehow, I feel like I’m starting to understand what it does.
The effect is small.
However, simply making eye contact with monsters seems to cause something to happen.
They slow down.
They become confused.
They even become afflicted with Darkness.
Although the duration of these status ailments is short, it’s good enough.
After all, this is aerial combat.
Just being able to maintain a dominant position is valuable enough.

I want Gold Ore, so naturally, I proceed to loot the corpses that have fallen to the ground.
The condition of the fallen bodies is quite grim.
Well, this is a game where you can loot chunks of gold from a monster’s corpse after all.
There’s a strange feeling.
The probability of obtaining Gold Ore from these remains the same as usual.

I pass over the Anti-Demon Fortress, which serves as the Area Portal for the W6 Map.
Are there any players around?
Quite a few.
I have no urgent need for resupply at the moment.
So I’ll just pass through here gracefully.
If I were traveling on the ground, I would definitely have stopped by.

My mind is already set on heading towards the S1W6 Map.

I headed to the S1W6 Map area while clearing out groups of Gryphons and Lesser Gryphons.
A while after passing the Anti-Demon Fortress has passed, and the forest seems to have become thicker.
All I can see ahead of me is a dense forest.
What about Call Monsters?
I can sense something reacting.
But it quickly fades away.

There are monsters that I have already encountered.
But this reaction is something I don’t quite understand.

 Wyrm Lv.7
 Demon Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Mid-Air, Ground
Fire Attribute Wind Attribute Dust Attribute Poison Breath

This guy took off towards us from out of the forest.
Hey!
Are you some kind of anti-aircraft missile?!

《【Dark Magic】Level Up!》
《【Horsemanship】Level Up!》

That, just now, was close.
Although I knew that Call Monsters wasn’t all-powerful either.
Had I been careless about this as well?

I have fought Wyrms before.
Although this one’s Level was quite high, its basic behavior remains the same.
But still…
This was my first time facing it in aerial combat.
I was a little, no, quite surprised!

As I descended to the ground to loot its corpse for items, I looked into the forest.
Calling it dense would be an understatement!
It’s like it’s nighttime there.
I could only manage to descend to the ground there with Aotsuki because the Wyrm’s corpse broke through some tree branches as it fell.
I can see vines densely intertwined between the branches.
That makes this a difficult place to navigate.
Well, I could always move through the air, though.

I got a Mana Crystal from the Wyrm’s corpse.
That’s good.
What should I do now?
I could also travel on the ground to get a good grasp on this area’s tendencies.

No, that’s something I can do closer to the Area Portal.
I should prioritize movement.
Also, maybe I should raise the altitude a little here?
These anti-aircraft missile Wyrms are scary.
Though I’m more afraid of Bronze Dragons.
It seems difficult to find the right spot, but let’s keep an altitude moderate.

《【Wind Magic】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Obsidian』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

How did the aerial battles with Wyrms go?
I never lost to the speed of any of those Wyrms.
I definitely outperformed them in aerial maneuverability.

But their Breath attacks are problematic.
Since they can inflict the Poison status ailment with them.
They’re probably on par with the W7 and N1W6 Maps in terms of keeping me on my toes.
I’m getting more and more curious.
What kind of monsters are there on the ground?

Obsidian’s INT increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose DEX as his second stat increase.

Obsidian Magi Owl Lv2 → Lv3 (↑1)
 DEX 17 (↑1)
 AGI 27
 INT 27 (↑1)
 STR 17
 VIT 17
 SPI 27

 Skills
Peck Silent Flight Far Sight Night Vision Ambush Sense Danger Divine Hearing
Magical Resistance [Slight] MP Recovery [Slight] Wind Attribute Water Attribute
 Ice Attribute

Alright.
So beautiful…
His figure, his eyes, and even those numbers, too…
I wish they would always stay like this, but this beautiful array of numbers will eventually come undone.
That’s a shame.

《【Disassembly】Level Up!》

This leveled up right after obtaining a Mana Crystal from one of the corpses.
【Disassembly】, huh…
Hmm.
What about my Tokkosho, huh?
Where’s my Tokkosho?!

I can’t get one of those here.
But I still feel like complaining!

Reaching the center of the Map is a quick task when you’re moving through the air.
What time is it now?
It’s 1:20 PM.
I’ve been moving while fighting monsters, but…
Without a doubt, it’s still quite fast.

Is there a place that looks like an Area Portal?
There is, and it stands out.
It stands out a lot.
The entire Map is covered in forest, but there’s a place that is completely devoid of trees.
That has to be the place.

Let’s try descending there.
There seems to be a single tree in the center of a circle.
Even from a distance, I can see the familiar soul-like fireballs.
This has to be an Area Portal.
And it’s probably still unreleased.

The only monsters I’ve encountered here were Wyrms.
What should I do?
The opponents that appear in the Area Portal release battles are usually related to the monsters in that area.
Should I engage in ground combat?
That would probably be better.

So let’s review my lineup.
The terrain here is the middle of a forest.
Moreover, it seems to be a very dark place.
Using Undead monsters is hard because sunlight does filter through the trees from time to time.

What to do?
Let’s choose Volff, Shishiku, Oma, Modulus, and Kiyohime.
This terrain will be advantageous to them.
I’ll also change my weapon.
Long-handled weapons aren’t a suitable choice.
And using Javelins while moving is difficult here.
Let’s go with the Petrified Wood Staff for now.
Oh, and let’s not forget about using Forest Walk here.

 Lamia Lv.6
 Demon Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground
Light Attribute Dark Attribute Wind Attribute Water Attribute Charm Sleep

Oh no.
This kind of enemy was here…
And the worst part is that there’s three of them.

I hurriedly selected and activated Psycho Pod.
Did I make it in time?
Shishiku was charmed, but I managed to cure him before he could bare his fangs at me.
That was close.
Really, really close.
This isn’t just dangerous.

Could this be?
No, I can’t confirm this yet.
Snake hell part 2, huh?
Well, it’s still too early to say that for sure.

Being careful not to let her bite me, I wrap my arm around her neck and start to strangle her.
A chance…
Is this a chance?
I can see Lamia’s chest over her shoulder.
What if I shift my folded arm down a little?
It seems like I should be able to grope her…
Effortlessly and one-sidedly.
It looks like it can be done…

No.

I can’t!

The opponent is a monster!
It’s something I have to defeat!
I have to do something about these shameful breasts of hers!

No matter what excuses I make, it feels like a crime.
I’m not charmed, right?
I have no markers indicating a status ailment.

No, wait.
What if I’m suffering from the Confusion status ailment, and I just can’t recognize it?
Would it be okay to grope her then?

Wait, wait, wait, wait!
But what about taking screenshots?
From this angle, her breasts look so…

Alright.
I managed to pull through somehow.
I’ve held my ground.
But it was really close, in many ways.

What about the other two Lamias besides the one I took down?
It looks like my Summoned Monsters managed to take care of them safely.

And am I getting anything from their corpses?

【Material】 Half-snake Princess’ Skin Raw Material Grade C+ Rarity 4 Weight 2+
Lamia skin. Its surface is covered with fine scales and has beautiful patterns.
It is known for having different patterns depending on the individual and is popular for decorations.

For decorations, huh?
Certainly, the patterns on this are subtly different from the ones on Kiyohime.
I only got one out of these three.
Is this a good haul?

However…
Even though I had one of them locked into a naked choke from behind, her lower body still managed to coil around my body.
It was a fresh sensation.
I felt as if my whole body was creaking a little, no, a lot.
For a chance to get up close with a beautiful woman, it was quite the harsh experience.
I also got poisoned.

Yeah.
It was brutal.
It was also a little confusing, but there was no problem there.

The Summoned Monsters also accidentally damaged Kiyohime, but she’s still alive.
Well, Kiyohime can’t help it.
The Lamias coiled around each other so much that they became some sort of snake ball.

At any rate…
Is this map really snake hell part 2?

 Lesser Basilisk Lv.10
 Demon Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Dark Attribute Poison Petrification Paralysis Instant Death

Just as I thought.
Long time no see…
And it’s a high Level, too?
There’s only one, but this one is dangerous.
That last part on its properties is dangerous.
Maybe it’s too dangerous?

There is only one, though.
Is that my only consolation?

《【Poison Resistance】Level Up!》

Did it take too much time?
No, it was imperative that I managed to blind it.
That’s a compromise I can make.
It took a while to undo the petrification, though.
Their gaze can petrify, paralyze, and even insta-kill.
Blinding this monster is absolutely necessary.

I have to remember that they can also inflict these status ailments through their Breath attacks.
The Lesser Basilisk tried to unleash such a Breath attack even after Modulus had tied it up to a tree trunk using her webbing.
It’s quite persistent.
That’s right.
Reducing its HP bar was also troublesome.
It resisted my Seal Magic spells such as Dual Forces Seal several times.
Only after the seal went through could I finally approach and attack with peace of mind.

And what about the item drops?
Hey, where are the drops?
C’mon, 【Disassembly】, are you even working?

《【Charm Resistance】Level Up!》

Call Monster isn’t very effective.
Is it because the forest is dense?
It picks up Lamias, but the reaction disappears quickly.
It also picks up Lesser Basilisks, but as expected, the reaction disappears quickly as well.
I know there are Wyrms too, and those actually start to approach me, but they tend to go Passive along the way.
Calling these monsters over and over again is a pain.

But what does it mean that the easiest opponent to fight so far is Wyrm?

However, maybe Call Monster isn’t necessary.
Encountering monsters isn’t that difficult if you walk around diligently.
It’s not difficult, but…
There are high risks involved.

Encountering Lesser Basilisks carries the risk of getting insta-killed.
Encountering Lamias carries the risk of getting banned.
It’s dangerous.

《【Instant Death Resistance】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Oma』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》

I’ve changed my way of thinking a little.
It’s better to develop resistance skills before taking on the Area Portal release battle.
That’s definitely better.
Well, the main reason for that is that the leveling up itself is going well.

Oma’s VIT increased automatically upon leveling up.
I’ll choose AGI as his second stat increase.

Oma Werewolf Lv4 → Lv5 (↑1)
 DEX 16
 AGI 33 (↑1)
 INT 25
 STR 16
 VIT 19 (↑1)
 SPI 16

 Skills
Punch Evade Bite Dash Threaten Echolocation Pursue
Self Regeneration [Slight] Magical Resistance [Medium] MP Recovery [Medium]
Transform Spacetime Attribute Light Attribute Dark Attribute Fire Attribute

Both Volff and Oma move around the forest as if bouncing like balls.
I can’t imitate that.
They attack while avoiding the Lesser Basilisk’s gaze.
What terrific mobility.
Volff and Oma were tasked with blinding the monster despite enduring Petrification and Poison.
I have to thank them for that.

I also throw my Kukris, aiming for its eyes.
But this is quite difficult.
I’ve only hit once so far.
Good grief…
These monsters are such a pain.

Let’s have Oma stick around a little longer.
He has a relatively small body and can make the best out of his mobility even in this forest, which is significant.
Especially when struggling against Lesser Basilisks.
Perhaps Couturier would’ve been better suited for blinding these monsters from the start.
But it’s too dark here.
It’s like night.
Yet occasionally there’s sunlight filtering through the trees.
The fact that this place is so dark only sometimes is the worst part of this.
Undead-types are resistant to status ailments, so I wanted to rely on them, but…

 Lesser Hydra Lv.6
 Demon Enemy Target Active
 Battle Position: Ground Poison

There are still some monsters I haven’t seen yet.
Well, to be precise, I’ve seen one of these before through Irina’s message.
But this one looks different.
The one in the screenshot attached to Irina’s message had three heads.
But this one has four heads.

And it’s big.
In terms of total length, the Wyrm might be larger
But this one’s body is thicker.
Oh boy…
I can definitely say now with confidence that this is indeed Snake Hell part 2.
