Chapter 342 Part 1
342
While I waited for dinner to be ready, the Dragon Puppies were feasting on the Ice Wyvern’s corpse.
It’s a mystery.
How big are their stomachs?
Dragon Puppies are babies, right?
They are quite big, as you’d expect a dragon baby to be, but still…
Snow Wyverns are definitely bigger than them.
And Ice Wyverns are even bigger than Snow Wyverns.
I can’t believe they can eat it all.
Oh, right.
I should go through the documents I received.
What kind of thing is that Fool’s Lithograph?
There’s stuff about the Judgment’s Lithograph here as well, but maybe I should leave that for later.
Let’s focus on the Fool’s Lithograph for now.
Hmm.
Here’s what I learned after a quick glance.
This is interesting.
It looks like you can do lots of mischievous things with this.
You can make this usable by all players, but it looks like you can also make it usable only by yourself.
Both the Fool’s Lithograph and Judgment’s Lithograph seem to share this property.
This is interesting as well.
Depending on the settings, it seems like they could be set up like a secret base.
It looks like their functionalities can be expanded, but this is not confirmed yet.
It seems like these need Mana Crystals and High Mana Crystals.
Hmm…
Oh, that’s right!
I do have some High Mana Crystals!
And I have some regular Mana Crystals as well.
The question is where to set this up.
Maybe give a tropical resort vibe to an island in the eastern sea Map?
Though I could also set up a hideout deep in a forest.
What to do?
What should I do?
This is a hard decision, but it’s also fun!
There’s also the matter of the new spell I acquired.
Portal Guard.
It’s a spell to deploy Summoned Monsters at a secret base (temporarily).
I can have them manage that base just like Master does with his own house.
Will I need a gatekeeper as well?
Someone who can do surveillance would be needed, but it would be better if they can fight too.
Oh no.
This rice with mushrooms is delicious, but my mind is wandering off somewhere else.
Uh oh…
My dreams are spreading out!
Broadly speaking, all these questions can be summarized into one.
Land or sea?
Hmm.
If I change my perspective, choosing either wouldn’t be a problem.
All I’d need to do is get another one of these tablets.
But right now, there are many other things I want to do as well!
I can’t do everything at the same time.
First of all, I wish I could get some more Snow Dragonstone (Lesser).
Hmm?
Speaking of which, what are the Dragon Puppies up to?
They’re still eating.
And I’ve already finished my meal myself!
These guys are definitely a pair of gluttons.
How’s Modulus knitting doing?
The gloves are almost done, but hunting takes priority.
I finished cleaning up and was about to change my Summoned Monster lineup…
But there’s a problem.
There’s an intruder in the scenery that I can see from inside the Instant Portal.
Someone other than us, the Dragon Puppies, and the Ice Wyvern’s corpse.
Another shadow.
【Identify】 reveals its name:
It’s a Lesser Dragon – Dark.
Hey! Dragon Puppies!
Behind you!
Look behind you!
Now matter how hard I yell, naturally, they won’t be able to hear me.
What should I do?
What is their guardian doing?
I dispelled the Instant Portal.
Then I grabbed my White Elephant Javelin…
And rushed forward.
What about strengthening spells?
There’s no time for that.
But there still are some things I can do.
「True Fighting Spirit!」
「Snipe Throw!」
I throw my javelin at the monster’s head using a weapon art.
Did it work?
「Bwooooooh!」
The javelin had pierced through one of its eyes.
The monster’s roar is strange, yet deep.
Is it pain?
Is it anger?
It’s probably both.
Snipe Throw.
This is a weapon art I’ve used several times when hunting.
However, more than half the time, it wouldn’t hit its mark.
And so I had forgotten about using it.
But this time, it’s yielded the best results ever.
Maybe that’s because this ended up being an ambush using an Instant Portal?
No.
That’s not it.
Heather overtakes me, followed by Setsui.
What’s that attack Setsui is using?
Gravity Wave?
Shockwave?
Whatever it is, it’s been repeatedly hitting the Lesser Dragon – Dark in the head.
Then Heather charges in.
Was she aiming for the eyes?
A direct hit.
Then she immediately withdraws.
The Lesser Dragon – Dark retaliates with a Breath attack directed at Heather.
However, she quickly dashes through the air, dodging it.
Whoa…
It was pretty close though, wasn’t it?
What about the Dragon Puppies?
As expected, they seem confused, but…
It looks like they’re already preparing to counterattack after all.
Jericho steps forward, moving past the Dragon Puppies.
Is it trying to cling to the monster’s legs?
I’m joining the pursuit.
I start throwing my kukris at it repeatedly.
But it’s just a distraction.
Come.
I’ve just finished selecting and activating my next spell.
Come at me!
The area in front of my eyes becomes scorching hot with the monster’s Breath attack.
Alright.
Thanks for taking the bait so easily.
「Dimension Mirror!」
I deflect the Breath attack.
But didn’t I get hit a little towards the end?
Well, that’s fine.
The tables have started to turn in our favor in many ways.
Modulus’s threads entangle one of the monster’s wings.
And what about Modulus, the wielder of the threads herself?
She’s circling around behind the Lesser Dragon – Dark.
So fast…
There aren’t many trees around, but she uses them to move as if bouncing from one to the next.
Now’s Heather’s turn.
She charges at the other wing.
The hole on it left by her attack wasn’t huge, but it was big enough.
Jericho is indeed clinging to the monster’s legs.
Jericho moves as if sliding on the surface of the monster’s torso.
From the torso to the neck.
And then to the head.
It moves fluidly.
Its goal is clear.
The head.
The Lesser Dragon – Dark still tries to use its Breath attack, but…
Jericho was too fast.
It enters the monster’s mouth.
All of this while retaining its liquefied state.
I can’t see what’s happening inside the monster’s throat.
I can’t say for sure.
But I can guess.
Jericho must be doing something terrifying in there.
The Lesser Dragon – Dark can’t use its Breath attack anymore.
And after that?
It’s brutal.
Everyone is doing whatever they want with the Lesser Dragon – Dark.
Even Bunraku has engaged in close combat.
It’s using its sasumata to pinch and twist the claws on the monster’s legs.
So harsh…
Isn’t that torture?
And the Dragon Puppies are joining the attack too.
One of them is biting one of the monster’s wings, and the other one is biting its tail.
Of course, I’m participating as well.
With only my Tokkosho, though.
Now that I’ve had time to use them, the effects of my strengthening spells are finally starting to show.
Slowly but surely, the monster starts taking more and more damage.
And naturally, the inevitable conclusion arrives.
We managed to finish it off somehow.
I’m glad that we’ve dealt with it, but…
What about the Dragon Puppies?
Now they’re eating this one too!
How much of a glutton can you guys be?
I can’t help but laugh.
By the way…
Where is their guardian?
It’s crazy to be saying this, but come on, Cloud Dragon!
There should be one in the area, looking after these kids.
Otherwise, the Golden Red Dragon would need to be held accountable for anything that could happen to them.
Yeah…
Well, it’s not like I can complain directly to it, though.
And the problem is… these two.
Aren’t they getting a little too close to me now?
Are they expecting me to feed them?
Probably.
Their appetites from earlier are still apparent.
Oh dear.
I mean, if we’re hunting monsters, I won’t have to worry about paying for their food, but it will still take a lot of time and effort, right?
They have very good fighting abilities despite the fact that they’re babies, and ultimately, they are helping me with hunting.
Are they really just babies?
Dragons are scary creatures.
Let’s review my lineup again.
What am I working with right now?
It’s Jericho, Heather, Bunraku, Setsui, and Modulus.
Let’s recall Bunraku and Modulus.
Who will I replace them with?
First, let’s summon Peptide.
And let’s bring Florin in as well.
So now it’s Jericho, Heather, Peptide, Florin, and Setsui.
Our expected opponents will be Lesser Dragon – Dark…
And Lesser Dragon – Ripper as well.
We can get items from these two.
Lesser Evil Dragon Eye and Lesser Sword Dragon Claw.
We’ll also be encountering Snow Wyverns and Ice Wyverns.
We can expect to get something from them too.
I came to this N2E12 Map just to see how Heather would do in battle.
Should I wait until tomorrow to aim for South Sea Pearls and South Sea Black Pearls?
In any case, having these strange companions right now is a headache.
The two Dragon Puppies.
Hey, you guys…!
Do you think I can check this monster’s corpse for any items?
What was the result?
I couldn’t check the corpse after all.
The two Dragon Puppies look somewhat sad as the corpse disappears.
Yeah…
I’m sad too!
Hmm, what’s going on here?
These Dragon Puppies…
I’m sure they’re the same ones I’ve encountered and fought alongside before.
They’re following me.
They even join in on my hunts.
They’ve become quite an asset in terms of fighting power.
And they obediently accept the strengthening spells I cast on them.
Do they gain experience points, too?
They probably do.
It seemed that way before as well.
Well, whatever.
Since then, I’ve encountered Lesser Dragon – Dark and Lesser Dragon – Ripper.
The Dragon Puppies won’t stop devouring the defeated monsters’ corpses.
But they also don’t seem to mind me digging my Survival Knife into them.
Though they do show an extreme response to me trying to interact with Ice Wyvern corpses.
It feels like a race.
How do the Dragon Puppies’ reaction to me using my Survival Knife on those corpses feel?
If they were humans, they would probably be clicking their tongues or something like that.
On the other hand, they don’t even spare a glance at Lesser Demons or Demon’s Beasts.
The same goes for Twinheads.
These Dragon Puppies seem to be quite the picky eaters.
I wonder if they eat vegetables?
They probably can, but I don’t think they would.
I don’t understand what’s different about these corpses!
But maybe they’re just already full, since they’ve stopped eating Snow Wyvern corpses halfway through the hunt.
Well, there’s no way they can just eat forever.
They’ve been quite helpful in hunting, so I don’t mind them tagging along.
But what about their guardian?
Where on earth is their guardian?

Thanks.
