Chapter 346 Part 2
I’m glad we were able to finish them off.
However, these have been the monsters that have dealt the most damage to us in this Map.
No way.
What a fierce battle that was!
However, there is no need to be pessimistic about the fact that this was a hard fight.
Just think about how many experience points you can earn from these guys.
Shall we get a little more used to it before challenging the area portal?
This Map consists of gentle hills.
The monsters that appear here seem to be related to horses in one way or another.
That’s right.
Surely it is safe to think that this Area Portal hasn’t been released yet.
I can’t see any other players on this Map at all.
There must be strong enemies related to horses waiting for me.
Before I fight them, it’s very important to be as proficient as I can in mounted combat.
I’ve been traveling on Aotsuki this far.
So I have plenty of time.
《【Water Magic】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Water Magic】spell【Whirlpool】!》
《Summoned Monster『Sputter』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
The hard fights continue.
But there is no doubt that we’re putting up a good fight as well.
It also feels like we’re Leveling Up rather quickly.
Sputter’s INT increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose AGI as his second stat increase.
Sputter Fighting Falcon Lv8 → Lv9 (↑1)
DEX 13
AGI 33 (↑1)
INT 24 (↑1)
STR 13
VIT 13

Still…
That’s not the end of it, isn’t it?
《Summoned Monster『Ignis』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
They Leveled Up together.
Well, that’s just as I had planned it.
Ignis’ AGI increased automatically upon leveling up.
Let’s choose VIT as his second stat increase.
Ignis Fighting Falcon Lv8 → Lv9 (↑1)
DEX 12
AGI 33 (↑1)
INT 24
STR 14
VIT 14
SPI 16 (↑1)
Skills
Peck Flight Far Sight Wide Area Search Ambush Sense Danger Air Mobility
Wind Attribute Earth Attribute
With that, I’ll recall both Sputter and Ignis.
Both their MP bars are already running quite low.
Obsidian still has about 40% of his MP left.
I think he can hold out a little longer.
Well then…
I’ll summon Heather and Kotohogi.
This should improve our fighting power.

I found these guys while flying in the sky.
Hmm…
These ones seem to be monsters that I’ve met somewhere before.
One Death Knight, two Death Soldiers and two Death Sorcerers.
And one Death Archer.
I think the ones I encountered earlier were riding Warhorses, though.
These ones are riding a different kind of mount.
Hippogryphs.
Their upper bodies are that of an eagle-like bird of prey, and their lower body is that of a horse.
Gryphons have the lower body of a lion, but it seems that this is replaced by that of a horse for these monsters.
What’s my first impression of them?
These are monsters that are both majestic and graceful at the same time.
Very fascinating.
I’d like to have one of my own!
However, these ones are enemies to be defeated.
I can’t let my guard down.
Which of these enemies should I be careful about in aerial combat the most?
The Death Sorcerers and the Death Archer.
Will the Death Knight and Death Soldiers come at me?
I’m looking forward to using Aotsuki’s aerial mobility as a countermeasure.
Hmm.
It’s scary when there are so many of them, even in the air.
There have been many times when I have almost been completely surrounded by bird monsters.
But still…
To be facing such large-scale monsters, and being attacked by four of them simultaneously!
Moreover, they’re clearly of a higher rank than Minor Gryphons and Lesser Gryphons.
They might be inferior in terms of agility compared to Pegasus.
But their toughness is a real threat.
They seem to listen well to their riders’ commands, and don’t like wild horses at all.
That’s what’s scary.
Thanks to our concentrated fire and our area-of-effect attacks, we finally managed to cause some confusion among them.
「Whirlpool!」
A whirlpool of water appears in mid-air.
It seems that this is not just a vortex.
This offensive spell feels as if it was filling a small space with Aqua Slashes.
It wasn’t enough to finish these monsters off, but that’s okay.
One last charge is all it took to get the job done.
This one is great!
Its drawback is that it has a short range, but it can be used in the same way as Downburst.
All you have to do is time it right when the monsters get all crowded on the same spot in the air.
But there’s a problem…
I still can’t get any items!
《【Fire Magic】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Fire Magic】spell【Fire Javelin】!》
《【Earth Magic】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Earth Magic】spell【Stonepillar Ram】!》
Hmm…
I’m getting more and more Level 23 spells.
When would be the right time to try and release the Area Portal?
This makes it difficult to make such decisions.
Let’s check my Skill list.
Which one will reach Level 23 next?
It’s clear as day that it will be Light Magic.
Let’s use it, then.
We’ve gotten this far, we might as well use it.
By the way, this is the first item I’ve seen since coming to this Map.
What was dropped?
A Mana Crystal from a Hippogryph.
It’s hard to tell whether Mr. 【Disassembly】 is doing a good job.
The acquisition rate is low, but I guess I can’t complain?
The Death Knights leave nothing behind.
Hmm.
Is there something that can be done about that?
Well then.
Are these all of the monsters that can be found in this Map?
I’m not so sure about that.
There might still be some others left.
I’ll check with Call Monster.
As usual, it won’t detect Heroic Spirits.
But the presence of other types of monsters can be confirmed.
Still…
The moment I position myself in the air, a Bicorn immediately turns its head back.
To be more precise, this seems to be the will of the Bicorn Knight riding it.
Should I continue hunting while flying around near the ground?
That might make us vulnerable to aerial ambushes.
A group of one Death Knight and others riding Hippogryphs…
The Pegasus Guardians Heroic Spirits…
Things can get dangerous when either of them is positioned overhead.
A horse Map, huh?
Some things about it make it a little troublesome, but it’s also interesting in its own way.
That’s right.
If you enjoy it, you win.
So, let’s try some stuff out.
I’ll change my main weapon from the Lion Sage’s Lance to Indra’s Halberd.
《【Pole Weapon】 Level Up!》
《【Light Magic】 Level Up!》
《You have acquired the【Light Magic】spell【Flash Burst】!》
Hmm…
The time is exactly 11 AM, huh?
I’ve been pretty absorbed in hunting, but…
This pace is better, isn’t it?
I also tried out my new spells.
The Fire Magic spell, Fire Javelin.
It has very flashy visual effects!
Well, it’s also as powerful as it is flashy.
Its long range is also pretty neat.
It’s better than the actual javelins I usually throw.
Well, it’d be a problem if it weren’t.
And the Earth Magic spell, Stonepillar Ram.
To put it simply, it’s an attack spell that throws stone pillars.
How should I put it into words?
In terms of image…
They look like battering rams?
That unicorn-like Heroic Spirit was knocked unconscious by one blow.
It’s a formidable attack spell if it hits directly.
It can miss, though, so it’s difficult to use against highly mobile opponents.
Ah, that’s right.
I have yet another new spell I need to try out.
This is getting interesting.
《【Dust Magic】 Level Up!》
《Summoned Monster『Ninetails』 Level Up!》
《Please add 1 point to a desired stat.》
It’s the Light Magic spell, Flash Burst.
This one was quite flashy as well!
I was surprised at first.
Not only me, my Summoned Monsters were surprised as well.
It was an explosion of light.
But it doesn’t deal that much damage.
The idea behind this spell is that it can cause great confusion to enemies.
It’s convenient, but if our Synergy fails, it might have a negative impact on allies as well.
It certainly has the power to make me think so.
Ninetails’ DEX increased automatically upon leveling up.
Hmm, that’s weird…
Let’s choose AGI as his second stat increase.
Ninetails Silver Fox Lv10 → Lv11 (↑1)
DEX 11 (↑1)
AGI 29 (↑1)
INT 29
STR 10
VIT 10
SPI 29
Skills
Bite Evade Dash Predict Danger MP Regeneration [Small]
Magical Resistance [Slight] Light Attribute Dark Attribute Wind Attribute
But that’s all for Ninetails.
Although he seemed to have been recovering his MP by riding on Aotsuki, he has still reached his limit.
There’s not even 10% left in his MP bar.
So he should be recalled now.
Moreover, there is something suspicious in front of me.
A basin?
No, it seems to be a place like a dried-up pond or lake.
The ground appears to be cracked.
The time is 11:20 AM.
It’s a little early, but let’s have lunch.
Let’s deploy an Instant Portal.
I’ll also recall Ninetails and summon Bunraku.
Now.
This place is definitely the Area Portal for the S2W5 map.
We have to proceed carefully here.
Let’s also use a Mana Potion to recover some of my MP.
By the way, what should my lineup be like?
That’s the big question.
I’m having rice for lunch.
It’s mixed with nori simmered in something that resembles soy sauce…
What about the broth?
What about the actual soy sauce?
Some things are still missing here.
But this is delicious anyway.
So, what should we do now?
It’s time to tackle the Area Portal.
Should we really go on like this?
How about my MP bar?
It might be better to use one more Mana Potion before heading out.
And what about the lineup?
Even if I use a Mana Potion on him now, I feel like Obsidian will struggle.
Let’s take the plunge and recall him.
Bunraku should be recalled as well.
And I’m reequipping the Lion Sage’s Lance for this fight.
The problem is?
Whether to add ground forces or not.
I believe it’s better not to overdo it, isn’t it?
Deciding was hard.
After much thought, who did I end up summoning?
Rig and Nias.
Of course, both Rig and Nias will be riding on Aotsuki.
I have a hunch.
I’ll probably be summoning a Heroic Spirit in this fight.
I should probably go in under the premise that I might end up having to summon one after all.
No matter how you look at it, this next fight is bound to be a difficult one.
Would I really send Nias out to such a fierce battle?
No, this will be just a lesson in tough love.
Besides, if she’s riding on Aotsuki and stays behind me, she should be safe, right?
As long as I don’t do anything reckless, though.
Hmm…
But I think I’ll probably do something reckless in this battle!
I have high hopes for a fierce battle and a lot of growth here.
