As I thought, something’s off.
From the air, all I can see is an enormous tree.
Its branches spread wide, lush and vividly green.
That—is what’s strange.
Because from the Area Portal, none of that was visible.
Even if the height made it hard to see from below, could I really have missed greenery this vibrant?

I even used Synchro Sense to check through Sputta’s eyes.
The fact that I can see it now is what doesn’t make sense.

There’s still one way to confirm things:
I could climb the tree myself.
Neither Call Monster nor Sense Magic is detecting any abnormalities, but who can really follow me as I go up the tree?
If I’m going to be moving along the trunk, the choices would be serpent-bodied Strand, Kiyohime, or the half-spider Modulus.
Unfortunately, Kiyohime and Modulus are stationed as Portal Guards.
Still, I can climb while letting my airborne Summoned Monsters keep watch around me; that shouldn’t cause any problems.
