The Summoner is Going c242 Part 1
I logged in.
As soon as I logged in, my appetite was attacked by a nice smell.
Wow! To think they would go for the sense of smell first…
In a moment, my sense of sight was attacked too.
Before I knew it, it was my sense of taste that went on the chopping block.
I had to be more careful. Letting my sense of smell get off guard would lead to a breakdown everywhere else.
Smell really was the key to waking up the body to related memories.
I only smelled a hint of that miso soup, and I fell completely.
Anyway, the time was 6:20 am.
I was the last person to log in.
I didn’t even stay up so late the night before… Right?
「Good morning!」
「Breakfast is ready!」
Adele and Irina were already done preparing a meal.
Haruna, Konohana, and Hyodor were sitting nearby, engrossed in some kind of chat.
Judging from pieces of their conversation that I could overhear, it sounded like they were talking about the forums.
Ah, that was a weak point for me.
I decided not to butt into their conversation.
With everyone together again, we decided to eat breakfast together.
As always, it was a delicious dish, full of various spices.
Judging from the colour it must’ve been some kind of curry? It wasn’t the kind of curry I was used to though.
The sourness was a nice addition though.
Bunraku must be feeling quite lonely. I hadn’t seen him cook anything in a long time.
Well, I didn’t have to summon him just to make us meals. I could summon him to fight in Battle Mode too.
「Anyway, shall we head to the Grey Forest?」
「Sure.」
「Can I be the one to cast the spell this time?」
Hyodor was quite excited that morning.
Well, it wasn’t a bad thing.
Even casting Return Home could eventually lead to a level-up for Spacetime Magic, as long as Hyodor was willing to wait for long enough.
When we first set out on our journey together in one Union, Hyodor was at Racial Level 8.
After all this time, Hyodor was now at level 15.
He was growing at an unprecedented rate.
When we started out, Haruna and Konohana were at level 13, but they were now at level 17.
Adele and Irina were at level 14, but they were now at level 17.
I had a feeling they were quite close to levelling up to level 18 too.
But really…
Most of all, I was impressed with the rate at which our Summon Monsters were growing.
I even had a free Summon Monster slot open, so I could summon another Summon Monster whenever I wanted to.
I wasn’t the only one either, everyone in the Union had a free slot.
That also meant that everyone was thinking hard about what to do with that free Summon Monster slot.
If we were all heading to the sea, it would be a good opportunity for us.
In that case, should I also use the free slot to summon a Dolphin?
It was a tough choice.
After cleaning up all the dishes and forming a party, Hyodor casted the spell Return Home.
In a few moments, our surroundings shifted, and we were suddenly in the Grey Forest.
Alright…
Let’s go to the sea.
I was starting to miss hunting on the beaches anyway. It would be a good idea.
No, I suppose since we were going to the sea, I should call it fishing instead?
Either way, I was certain that some of my Summon Monsters would be happy to finally get to do some underwater combat. Nias, especially.
Speaking of which, we were already at the Grey Forest.
But there was no reason for me to stop and hang around there Grey Forest.
We had enough food to last us quite a while.
「Alright then, shall we start with a fly spell? I’ve never been to the S3E1 map though…」
「Ah, are you concerned about flying monsters?」
「Oh, that reminds me. Do we have any information on the monsters in the S3E1 map?」
「I thought this issue would come up, so I researched it a bit beforehand.」
As expected from Irina. She was quite thorough when it came to these things.
It definitely made it a lot more convenient for the rest of us.
The issue was resolved without any complications.
「Frigate Birds, huh…」
「What kind of monster is a Frigate Bird?」
「It can move at high speeds through the air. It attacks by ripping its targets apart with its beak.」
「You think it’s going to be a tough monster?」
「I think it’s going to be quite similar to a Fighting Falcon… It doesn’t look like it has any Special Abilities though.」
「How would you compare it to a Float Head?」
「I think those Frigate Birds are going to be tougher to deal with just because they’re much faster, and our attacks will hit less often…」
「I don’t like both of them!」
Well, leaving Adele’s opinion for later…
Irina made a good point. The fact that it was faster meant that our attacks were going to hit less often. That was definitely going to become an issue in the future.
Would it be better to intercept their attacks on the ground?
「By the way Irina, have you beaten one of those Frigate Birds before?」
「Yes. I had to rely on Adele’s Fire Wall to do it though.」
「After that, all we had to do was take it down with Sniper Shot!」
So that was what they did…
I suppose flying in S3E1 might be a bit dangerous…
「What about the Area Portal of the S3E1 map?」
「Yeah, the Frigate Birds are there too.」
「I think it might be safer for us to approach on the ground.」
「Maybe heading there on horseback is the best idea…」
「Yep, don’t mind that either.」
Haruna and Konohana seemed like they were all for going on horseback too.
Well then, I suppose there was no helping it.
We decided to enter the S3E1 map on the ground.
「Well, let’s at least fly to the eastern border of this map using a fly spell. We can always land and then make the rest of the journey into S3E1 on the ground.」
「Sure.」
「I think that would be safe.」
Yep, it would be best not to overdo it.
It was also good to have an idea of the movement patterns of the monsters beforehand.
We were heading to the sea after all, our patience would be rewarded with delicious food ingredients.
The Drone Beetles were as lively as ever.
Some of them flew up from the ground to greet us.
No, I suppose it would be more accurate to say that they flew up from the ground to attack us.
To be fair, they weren’t really a threat, so it wasn’t a bad thing.
It was just a bit bad for my heart.
We were all flying in a straight line… Why did they have to surprise us like that…?
I didn’t even want to imagine what would happen if we were to take a direct hit from one of them mid-flight.
I decided to fly at a bit of a higher altitude.
The higher altitude presented us with another issue though, namely, the cold.
I would probably be fine, but I couldn’t say the same for the other people in my party.
Resist Ice was a must-have spell at that height…
We somehow managed to dodge all of the Drone Beetles, and safely made it to the eastern border of the S3 map.
The time was about 7:20 am?
It was a bit cold at altitudes that high, so maybe that had an effect on our movement speed.
Still, it was much better than travelling through the forest on foot.
It was far better.
But it wasn’t the time for us to relax just yet. The real battle was only just beginning.
「Nice. Alright, let’s summon our Summon Monsters and form a Union.
「Got it!」
We were going to head straight to the sea that morning.
I wanted to reflect that with my Summon Monster team.
I summoned Volff, Zangetsu, Helix, Rig, and Nias.
It was a standard team. Nothing weird.
I looked at Adele’s Summon Monster team, and her team was also designed primarily around maximising mobility.
Haruna and Konohana also had a Summon Monster each on their horses.
More specifically, a Mermaid and a Lorelei.
They also had slimes acting as saddles to stabilise them on the horses.
It looked like carrying mermaids on a horse using a slime as a saddle was starting to get more popular.
「By the way, what kind of monsters should we look out for on the ground?」
「Hermit crabs! Huge ones!」
「They’re called Fort Crabs, apparently. It’s an amphibious shrimp-like monster, but it’s tough and it has a large shell on its back.」
「Sea snakes, too! Watch out for their poison!」
「They’re called Ophion Snakes. It’s a big snake, but strangely does not look like it has eyes. We might see it on the ground too. It’s quite the eerie monster.」
「There are even horses!」
「Ah yes, they’re called Amenofuchikoma. They’re technically horses, but it’s unbelievable how much they can rampage about.」
「Oh, and a ghost!」
「Yep, Sea Phantoms. Although it’s only possible to see them flying around at night. When we met one of those, it kind of looked like the spirit of a woman.」
Yep.
Adele… Your explanations are very clear and straightforward, but maybe you’re being a bit too concise!
Well, with Irina there, they managed to communicate everything very well.
The point was that it wasn’t a map where we could let our guard down.
It wasn’t everyone’s first time on the map. Adele and Irina, as well as Haruna and Konohana, had tried tackling the map before, albeit in a Union of two players.
They both tried some fighting, but then retreated before getting to explore the map in full.
Well, they could definitely be more confident this time.
Feel free to take your revenge.
Thanks for the treat.
