We took out a lot of them, but the Catoblepas didn’t drop any items.
No, I was the one who put Irina in charge of collecting item drops, so I only had myself to blame.
I used Instant Portal.
It was time for a dinner break.
It certainly was a very busy afternoon.
It would be good to take a moment to rest up.
If I had to give a reason as to why I chose that exact moment, I would say…
The Area Portal was nearby.
Not just that, we were about to enter into a very hilly area too.
What was the Area Portal going to be like…?
It would probably involve a strong enemy, maybe multiple of them.
It would be nice if we could get the opportunity to be the first ones to clear that Area Portal.
What about cooking?
Bunraku was taking care of it.
I recalled Zangetsu to summon Bunraku.
Bunraku was working on some sort of pasta machine on a table I had set up.
Bunraku wasn’t bad at cooking at all.
I was just more used to seeing him knead rubber.
The motions were quite similar, watching him make pasta dough.
Somehow that association popped up in my head.
But I couldn’t waste the time when Adele and the others were logged out. There were better things to do than watch Bunraku cook food.
There were a lot of things I had to do.
I got started on some work that I was hoping would help improve our fighting strength, albeit only by a little.
What kind of work was it?
I decided to work on making arrows.
It went quite smoothly, since I had some experience with it, and was used to even making vulcanised rubber.
Well, vulcanised rubber wouldn’t work that well as a comparison… But progress still went smoothly.
Keeping the arrowhead the same as always, I tried changing the feathers used on the back of the arrow.
What happened then?

Yep, that was the standard arrow we were using.
The arrowheads were made from the Dark Bat Fangs we got from Rudy Bats.
The wood was made by reusing scrap wood from other projects.

I didn’t have too many Dark Bat Fangs, after all.
I could use the Black Bat Fangs that we got from the numerous Black Bats as another comparison.

Let’s try changing the feathers.
What did I want to swap the Steppe Hawk feathers with?
I wanted to try swapping them with the feathers of Frigate Birds, Battle Hawks, and Wild Swans.
Of course, I was looking forward to seeing what the feathers of the Frigate Birds would do the most.
「Are you making arrows?」
「Oh, yep, that’s right.」
At some point, Haruna and Konohana logged back in and said hi.
They showed an interest in the arrows I was making, but it didn’t look like they were willing to get their hands dirty just yet.
I couldn’t really blame them.
Their equipment was mainly based around their staffs, not on bows and arrows.
Oh yeah.
We were still in a Union anyway, so it would be a good opportunity to organise all of the item drops that we were getting.
They would all get distributed eventually, but since we managed to accumulate quite a few of them, some organisation would be needed.
「Could I entrust you two with organising all of our item drops for a while?」
「Well, counting everything is the least I can do…」
「Leave it to us.」
I left it to them.

Comparing both of the arrows to the standards I made earlier, the pattern was clearly visible.
The attack power did not change from changing the feathers to the feathers I took from the Frigate Bird Wings.
But there was a big extension in range.
It looked pretty good.

I tried using feathers taken from the wings of a Battle Hawk.
The attack power, power, as well as the range of the arrow were improved in a well-balanced manner.
It was probably a matter of taste, but it seemed like using feathers taken from Battle Hawk Wings led to better results than the Frigate Bird wings.
Last on the list were the Wild Swan Wings.

For a moment, I thought that there were no changes compared to the standard arrows I made earlier.
After looking some more, I realised the durability value increased by a bit.
No, that could actually be quite important.
The arrows we were using were one-time use half of the time.
I didn’t want to use expensive arrows because it would be a waste if I couldn’t collect them again to reuse them later.
With the feathers from the Wild Swan wings, collecting the arrows would get a little bit easier.
Well, I could just use those arrows as a last resort.
It was difficult to find a compromise between the three types of arrows.
The arrows I was giving to Goki and Bunraku would naturally run out over time.
I guess I could keep making more of them while I had the time to do so.
As I kept working on the arrows, I found that at some point Hyodo joined me.
Well, he also had【Woodworking】and his main weapon was a bow after all.
It would be within his best interests to check out the new items.
He took his share of Frigate Bird Wings from Konohana, and then sat down next to me to join me in my work.
He showed me the first item he made, and it looked a little like this:
