The time was 1:50 pm.
We finally got back to the Relay Portal.
Personally, it felt like a retreat after losing a big battle in a war.
It wasn’t even like we lost the fight or anything.

Hyodor finally opened his mouth.
Until we reached the Instant Portal, he had been keeping his guard up, silently watching for any monsters that might ambush us.

He thought It was a miracle that we survived and managed to return to the Instant Portal.

The monsters we had to face earlier resembled giant snakes.

The monsters kind of reminded me of the Cockatrice, since they could be considered both male or female at the same time.

They were capable of causing abnormal status conditions too, but only petrification.
It also seemed like using Dispel Magic was effective against it, but even that spell apparently had a chance of failure, even if we didn’t get to see the spell fail earlier.
Was that really the case?
It was a scary thought.
The chance of instant death was scary, but the risk of losing so many of our Summon Monsters at once was also horrifying!
We were fortunate that Hyodor’s spirit Undine was able to remove the abnormal status conditions from all of our Summon Monsters, including the poison abnormal status condition.
It really was our salvation.
「Well, I guess we can take that as a warning…」
『A warning?』

Irina agreed with me for once.

The map just wasn’t the best place for that yet.
Everyone else seemed quite bored of the map already too.
Yeah… That made sense.
I knew that feeling very well too.
But that meant that we had to come up with a compromise.
We started by first using Return Home to go to the Wind Spirit Village.
We could fly further south from there.
We were aiming for the S2W2 map.
It was a map I hadn’t been in before.
I tried looking it up on the forums, but there seemed to be no information on the map even on the forums.
Would we be okay?
I thought it probably wouldn’t hurt to try it.
Well then.
Right after our discussion, I recalled all my Summon Monsters and formed a party.
Irina was the one to cast Return Home.
In a moment, we were outside the Wind Spirit Village again.
The last map we would explore together was a map that was neither impossible nor crazy to tackle.
I had a good feeling that everything would go smoothly.
「Alright, let’s all form a party of two people, and then get together in a Union again.」
「Got it!」
As soon as we arrived, we dissolved our party and then formed new parties.
Having two people in each party meant that each one of us could only summon 2 Summon Monsters.
I ended up in a party with Hyodor.
I summoned Helix and Couturier.
Hyodor summoned a Mystic Eye and a Battle Hawk.
Adele and Irina had a Fighting Falcon, a Mystic Eye, a Battle Hawk, and a Pixie.
Haruna and Konohana had a Fighting Falcon, 2 Mystic Eyes, and a Wood Owl.
There were a lot of flying Summon Monsters, but when it came to our own mobility, there were no problems.
「So there are Float Eyes in the W2 map, and Crest Bees in the S1W2 map…」

Compared to the S1W2 map, which was mostly dry plains, the S2W2 map was more green, with almost our whole vision being filled with forest.
The terrain seemed to be quite similar to the N1W2 and S3 maps.
It probably wouldn’t be very good to ride our horses around here…

It was going to be inconvenient for us to form a Union and have large-scale battles.
But in exchange, the monsters usually had good item drops.
I personally didn’t mind that trade-off.

Forests were actually a good place for Summoners to be in.
We had Summon Monsters that were specialised to forest combat, after all.
I temporarily dissolved the party with Hyodor and took some time to change my Summon Monster lineup.
I summoned Volff, Obsidian, Tigris, Denier, and Couturier.
What was my aim?
I wanted to get to Denier’s Class Change.
It was a bit selfish and underhanded of me, but oh well.
Hyodor’s team consisted of a White Wolf, a Mystic Eye, a Beast Ape, an Imp, and a Chimera.
Yep, compared to me, Hyodor was going all out.
Adele’s Summon Monster team consisted of a White Wolf, a Golden Fox, a Viper, an Imp, and an Orthros.
Irina had a Black Wolf, a Wood Owl, a Pixie, a Lion, and a Nue.
Haruna’s team consisted of a Mystic Eye, a Viper, a Beast Ape, a Lion, a Nue.
Konohana’s team consisted of a Grey Wolf, a Wood Owl, a Mystic Eye, a Forest Tiger, and an Imp.
