The Summoner is Going Chapter 246 Part 2
Everyone was pretty serious with their Summon Monster teams.
But I could tell they were serious about training their Summon Monsters too.
I understood where they were coming from.
I cast 【Forest Walk】 on all the Summoners, and we entered the forest.
It still wasn’t enough to catch up with our Summon Monsters, but it was better than nothing.
The two vipers were piggybacking on an Orthros and a Nue.
But really, was the map just not that popular?
We didn’t see any other players in the forest.
『I think most players prefer to check out the S1W3 map.』
「Huh…」
According to Konohana’s research, there seemed to be few parties deciding to head south from the S1W2 map.
She said that there were many parties heading west to the S1W3 map, aiming for crystals.
I guess they all wanted to try their hand at getting a Contract Crystal and their personal horses, huh?
The demand for it was definitely very high.
『But it looks like there’s something here.』
Adele’s comment called everyone’s attention.
Kii-chan, the Golden Fox, looked very concerned about her surroundings.
I also couldn’t get Volff to relax from his alert state.
It wasn’t a big threat though, because it wasn’t to the point where Volff started to growl, a habit that I knew he had for when he detected big threats.
What was the issue?
Needle Dragonfly Lv.4
Monster Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Air
There were seven of them.
Also, there was something wrong with those dragonflies…
But we got ambushed before we realised that the monsters were there, so I didn’t get to have a good look at them.
Although I was the only one to get attacked in their ambush.
Leaving the damage for later…
No matter how I looked at them, the dragonflies just seemed very strange.
The dragonflies were huge!
Even compared to Helix, these guys had more than twice the wingspan!
Even so, they weren’t bird wings. They were insect wings.
But that didn’t really matter.
Along with the dragonflies, needles started flying at us.
The dragonflies all had long abdomens, which they pointed our way to shoot their needles.
They were almost like fighter airplanes!
And on top of that, those needles…
Maybe needle wasn’t the best way to describe them…
They were more like nails!
It wasn’t very thick, but the diameter of each needle was definitely closer to a nail than a needle.
And each hit hurt quite a bit! I had a hard time believing that the pain was coming from the needles, but…
No doubt about it.
Although it was painful, the damage was not as high as I expected, though that wasn’t really much of a consolation.
Well, it was just seven of them, and our fighting strength when it came to our flying Summon Monsters was far better, so we took out all of them in no time.
But I didn’t get any opportunity to contribute.
There was no time for me to do anything.
I just sat there as a target for their needles.
Something awoke within me after that fight.
But I didn’t want to make it known to anyone else just yet. I would have to keep it to myself for the time being.
I would have to learn to restrain myself more.
【Material】Needle Dragonfly Needle Raw Material Grade C+ Rarity 3 Weight 0+
The needle of a Needle Dragonfly. It is durable enough to be used in place of nails.
I knew it! I knew it wasn’t any ordinary needle…
It was also quite surprising that we managed to get multiple of them from each Needle Dragonfly.
Every time I bent down to collect the item drops, I got 1 to 3 Needle Dragonfly needles.
Well, that was a good thing.
It definitely looked like something I could use to make arrowheads.
Seeing that all seven of the Needle Dragonflies dropped some items made the fight a little more worth it.
It was good for replacing the space in my inventory that had just been freed up.
Yeah… Definitely.
Progress was going smoothly.
Killer Mantis Lv.3
Monster Enemy Target Active
Battle position: Ground, Treetops
Dark Attribute Tree Attribute Earth Resistance Water Resistance
『Woah! Look, there’s human-sized mantises there!』
『Ahhh… More bugs?』
Yeah… I was thinking the same thing.
But it was clearly a pattern. Could it be…?
Could it be that the monsters on the S2W2 map were all insects?
It wasn’t my first time having to face this kind of monster.
But when I fought it in the past, I didn’t get to collect any item drops.
After we defeated the Killer Mantis, I tried collecting its item drops and got a Magic Stone.
How did the fight go?
There was just one of them after all.
『That was actually quite easy!』
『I suppose it’s just weak?』
「No, no. Don’t underestimate these guys, insects can be quite scary, you know?」
Yep, it reminded me of the first time I died in the game.
That was also because of an insect.
I had countermeasures in the form of the spell Psycho Pod, but I still had to be alert at all times.
But it was a good opportunity.
I decided to change my weapon for the time being.
I took out the Fleuret from my 《Item Box》.
Let’s see how fighting with this is going to go…
《【Thrusting Sword】Level Up!》
As expected, the skill was still at a low level.
After taking down a small swarm of 6 Killer Mantises, the skill levelled up.
The Killer Mantises were actually pretty good enemies to grind on the map…
『Oh, did you get yourself another weapon?』
『A sharp piercing sword! What a maniac!』
『No, I think I’ve seen some elves use a weapon like this before.』
Hmm?
Hyodor seemed to be quite enthusiastic.
Elves didn’t have much physical strength.
Because of that, among elf circles there is usually a lot of demand for thrusting swords in addition to bows and arrows.
Especially since there are a lot of elves that end up taking the job of Treasure Hunter.
But… It wasn’t that simple.
A lot of the fleurets that they had were made of metal, which meant that there was a penalty to magic casting.
Although apparently, some players were getting around that penalty by making their fleurets out of Swordfish Horns.
But since it was also a popular material used for making spears, it made sense that the supply for those kinds of fleurets would be rather low…
Hmm…
Wait, Hyodor also had the 【Woodworking】 skill, so I guess he could make one of those too.
『It does look like it would be useful to make one… I might find myself fighting in the front from time to time too, after all.』
『No, don’t!』
『That’s impossible!』
『No, that’s too reckless!』
『Try rethinking that, please!』
『Huh…』
All the girls seemed to be against Hyodor’s idea.
Well, I wasn’t too upset by that.
We already had another Summoner adept at fighting in the front lines in our Union, after all.
Mad Cicada Lv.3
Monster Enemy Target Passive
Battle Position: Air Light Resistance Dark Resistance
Yep, the whole map was going to be full of insect monsters.
My hypothesis was gaining more ground in my head.
It was a monster that was technically an aerial monster, but it was in a passive state, resting on the trunk of a nearby tree.
What was it like?
It was a cicada.
Probably about the size of a human head.
Really, the monsters on the map all had a tendency to be vastly out of proportion.
It was a real problem.
But what were our options, really?
But as I was thinking about what to do, the Mad Cicada became active and attacked us.
But it didn’t change its position in any way.
How did it do that?
It used a deafening sound.
It was a sudden attack, and the sound hit us like a shockwave.
A high-pitched sound struck our ears.
No, it wasn’t just any high-pitched sound… A cicada’s screeching?
When I thought that the sound was over, another shock wave suddenly hit us.
It was an attack that affected every one of us.
But what about the damage of the attack?
It was small.
If I were alone, I would have just ignored it and kept moving.
But considering that their attacks affected all of us, the damage would probably start to stack up on some of our weaker Summon Monsters.

Thanks for the treat.
