Chapter 50 Part 6 – Alisa and Scarlet in the previous「108 times」. The Queen and the Maiden of Salvation. Malice is like a burning fire.

Although they call themselves a chivalric order, they are a group of cutthroats.

It is a unit created by someone that failed to pass the test to become a member of the Imperial Guards that is hailed as the strongest in Hydrangea because he was too strong. They make their living by becoming mercenaries or looting. They are indeed very good at what they do and have assassinated a noble several times after receiving a request. They are also accustomed to attacking during the night.

But even they have never experienced being unable to take a step forward because of the thick fog that suddenly sprang up in the garden. Fear was slowly spreading to these ferocious people. Some of them who have experienced being on the verge of death had an instinct for danger. These people began to flinch and insisted on immediately retreating.

「…… I’m sorry to tell you this, but this place is dangerous. My intuition is telling me so. I would like to immediately retreat.」

The leader, who looked as if he had been born without fear, wiped the sweat from his forehead and offered to cancel the contract.

「When fog is closing in on an abandoned castle, this kind of unpleasant feeling can be felt. The old men said that ancient evil spirits sometimes wander around in the mist. It is said that they are from families that were sorcerers before Romalia came to this country. No sword or spear will work against such monsters. That’s why we have to run.」

The leader suddenly recounted an old tale, turned his back on him, and began to urge his companions to retreat. Seeing his actions, the client was taken aback and lost his temper.

「You said that you were too strong that you couldn’t join the Imperial Guards!! The hell with that!! A person like that is getting frightened by a mere fog and wanting to retreat …… You should be ashamed!! What a disappointment!!」

The leader of the group sneered at the indignant client.
He was making a fool out of himself.

「It doesn’t matter what you say. Those things about the Imperial Guards were spread by the people, not what I myself said. I’m not as strong as Sir Matzo or the frightening three old warriors. If I have a bad feeling about it, I will get away from it right away. Being cautious is the key to survival. All of the payment we received will be returned in full. Hire some other guys with it. Bye.」

But the nightmare was not so merciful as to let them go.

「…… Ahaa, what a lovely full moon night!」

The cold taunting voice sounded cruel.
Everyone in that place gasped.
Suddenly, as if the screen had switched, Alisa appeared with her blond hair and military jacket fluttering in the night breeze. Her blue eyes glowed with a horrifying light. She composedly radiated the aura of an absolute monarch that looks down from above. The tassels of the sleeve decorations and epaulets on both sleeves of the military uniform that she put on her shoulders swayed gracefully. This is not the behavior a beautiful girl would have when surrounded by rough men. He felt his feet wobble at the unreal sight.

The leader of the bandit chivalric order growled.

It was because he saw that Alisa’s figure was clearly visible in the fog, even though it was late at night and he could not even make out the view a few meters ahead of him. It was as if Alisa herself was glowing. Although they could not see each other through the fog, it was clear that they all saw her, regardless of the distance, because all the scattered members of the group let out a surprised cry. It was definitely not normal.

And the demonic energy coming from Alisa made his heart clench.
She was more dangerous than the flames of a smelting furnace and anyone with a keen intuition would have fainted just by looking at her. The leader’s hair stood on end in fear. This is something non-human that took on the appearance of a girl. She had an extremely overwhelming strength that makes people bow down respectfully to her and beg for forgiveness. Signals warning that his life was in danger flashed intensely in his mind.

「…… You guys, if you don’t want to die, drop your weapons right now ……!! Don’t go against her no matter what.」

Without any hesitation, he unfastened the sword at his waist and threw it to the ground.
His fingers and voice trembled as he did his best to warn his companions. He fell to his knees and lowered his head in submission.
It was illogical, but he knew with his instinct that it was the only way to survive.

Immediately after there was the sound of weapons hitting the ground from around ten places and the sound of armor shifting as they crouched, and that was it. It was around the same number as the oldest group, the people who had an ominous feeling about this fog. Although the leader was not sure whether it was done out of loyalty to him or their own intuition, the leader let out a relieved sigh when they obeyed him. Those companions who could be called his sworn friends had escaped death for the time being. He had never been so nervous in his life, not even when cornered on the battlefield.

「Hey, hey, she’s talking about a full moon in the midst of this fog? Is this woman crazy? Why are you guys so scared of this crazy woman!! It’s merely a trifling matter that has to be taken care of before the important one!! Immediately end her life!!」

Of all things, the client had the audacity to point a finger at Alisa and start screaming, making the leader feel a twisting anger and fear in his guts. The client’s clamoring was tantamount to calling a school of sharks with his blood in the drifting sea.

‘You fool!! If you want to die, go and die by yourself!! Don’t involve us in your foolishness!!’

The angry leader was about to seriously make a move to slay his client.

But Alisa snapped her fingers in a graceful gesture earlier than him, causing the leader to freeze in the position where he was about to reach for his sword. The white mist had suddenly dissipated and the bright full moon illuminated the woods where they were lurking. They had been wandering in an illusion of a fog until now.

Golden beetles that they have never seen before crawled all over the treetops, glowing eerily in the moonlight. Their glow was like an elaborately crafted golden skull.

「…… Isn’t it such a beautiful full moon? Sometimes it’s not so bad to enjoy the moonlight and forget about the rest of the world.」

The leader nodded his head, as if mesmerized, with his mouth hanging open as Alisa smiled ominously. Alisa was as beautiful as a moon goddess. She was a transcendent and awe-inspiring being outside of human logic and boundaries.

「What!? What happened!? …… Where is the fog ……!?」

The client’s ridiculous and flustered voice ceased to make a noise.
He was convulsing with foam coming out of the corner of his mouth and without even looking at him, Alisa spat out coldly.

「Shut up. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to bask in the light of this beautiful blue moon. How dare you try to disturb Scarlet’s sleep? She went to sleep while reminiscing about our youth together. I am sure she has met me inside her dream …… From here on out, it will be the story of the two of us. So, all of you minor roles from the first act should immediately get out of here.」

The pitiful client’s head twisted by itself.
With a cracking sound, he turned his head to the back.

He looked down at his back in dismay, then opened his mouth like a dying fish being landed in the water. He was unable to comprehend what had happened. The leader was in a difficult situation where he had to look straight into the client’s eyes desperately trying to ask him questions. The client’s stunned expression turned to one of despair as his eyes met the leader. He tried to walk toward the leader as if seeking salvation, but his face was facing directly behind him, so he moved away in the opposite direction. With his hands in an open state, he hit the trunk of the tree with a thud as if hugging it. Then he fell on his buttocks. Normally, this would be a funny sight, but the way his neck was bent in the opposite direction was too surreal.
