Rust overlooked Garn’s mansion and the soldiers guarding it down below. Standing up, Rust silently jumped down and hid in the shadows. Picking up a fist-sized rock from the ground, Rust launched it high into the air.

A moment later.

*Thud*

The rock crashed into the ground drawing everyone’s attention.

“What was that!”

With their eyes drawn away, Rust grabbed several more rocks from the ground and with precise aim, he threw each one out faster than an arrow.

*Thwack thwack thud thud thud thud*

With Rust’s inhuman strength and these men not wearing helmets, the rocks proceeded to penetrate and crush their skulls on impact. They were dead before they even hit the ground. The Captain was the first to notice this and reflexively spun his spear behind his back.

*Thwack Thwack*

Two rocks shattered on impact when they connected with his spear.

The captain was more than efficient when it came to handling his spear and his speed was superior to even that. His men, on the other hand, were nowhere near his level. So when the captain had just fended off a few rocks, his men were just now realizing the situation and moving but compared to Rust, they were far too slow.

Right after Rust had thrown half a dozen rocks in quick succession, he had already filled his hands with more rocks and tossed those out not even half a second after the first ones.

*Thwack thud thud thud thwack thud*

Once more several men were dead. The captain turned and before he even had the chance to shout, a large hand had gripped his neck.

The captain thrust his spear forward towards Rust’s torso but just as it was about to pierce Rust’s chest…

*Snap*

Rust snapped the captain’s neck. The captain’s body went limp within Rust’s grip and Rust snorted in disdain.

“Hmph, weak.”

Tossing the captain to the ground, Rust looked at the several corpses that now lay at his feet. Seeing their dead bodies brought him no feelings of guilt or remorse whatsoever, instead, he only felt anger for being held up for even a moment longer than necessary.

Rust casually walked forward.

(With them dead I probably have 20 minutes before a patrol comes by. Hehehe, that means I can take a bit of time and enjoy what comes next.)

Rust stopped in front of Garn’s large door and knocked on the door.

*Bum bum bum*

“Knock knock Garn, I’ve come to pay you a VISIT!”

*Bang*

Rust knocked once more but this time he put a bit of power into his fist and the door exploded into large chunks of wood.

Stepping over the broken pieces of door, Rust waltzed in as though he owned the place.

“Garn, honey I’m home. Where’s my welcome?”

Rust turned a corner and spotted Garn leisurely sipping a cup of tea near a cozy warm fireplace.

The rage within Rust began to rise to the top of his head.

“You actually dare relax when someone has come to kill you.”

Garn though continued to sip tea and ignored Rust entirely.

“You.”

Rust’s body blurred as his speed left only an afterimage behind him. He grabbed Garn by the collar and forcefully lifted him off the ground.

“To ignore death does not mean that death won’t still reap the wheat.”

Garn still had his cup in his hand and proceeded to take another sip from it.

Rust was left flabbergasted and slapped Garn’s cup out of his hands and into the fireplace.

Garn finally looked at Rust and smiled.

“Thank you, I just finished that.”

Rust was infuriated and gave Garn a swift backhand to the face.

*Smack*

A line of blood ran down the left corner of Garn’s bottom lip and dripped off of his chin and onto the floor.

“You know why I’m here yet you feign foolishness. Do you think this will buy you time or something. Let me tell you, even if reinforcements came, do you think the king would allow them to interfere. As much as I hate to admit it, King David was quite slippery earlier in the throne room. To think he would put the blame on me but as soon as he did that, he was certainly guaranteeing your death. He probably knew I would come to kill you and even if I didn’t, with you being home alone with no magic tools, I’m sure he’d send someone to off you and make it seem like an accident.”

Garn turned his head back and glared fiercely at Rust.

“Oh, so there is still some fire within you, too bad you have to die tonight. I would have loved to prolong your torture for as many months or years this old body of yours could have lasted. If only there was more time.”

Garn continued to glare coldly at Rust. Rust on the other hand only found frustration and irritation from Garn’s cold attitude. Rust punched Garn in the chest sending him flying into a wall.

*Crack Bam*

Garn felt a splitting pain on the right side of his chest. At least three ribs of his had been broken, causing waves of excruciating pain to shoot through him. Garn was on all fours and began spitting up mouthfuls of blood. His body shook and his hands trembled uncontrollably beneath him. Still, he glared hatefully at Rust.

Rust again saw the look Garn was giving him and snapped. Blurring again, Rust appeared in front of Garn almost instantly. Standing in front of him, Rust began to deliver kick after kick into Garn’s side and stomach. Garn’s arms and hands continued to move awkwardly underneath him.

“Those eyes, those fucking eyes. Always looking at me like I’m nothing, like I’m the unworthy one. Because of you…Because of you.”

Rust continued to kick and beat Garn while just holding back. He wanted to make Garn suffer, and suffer he did. Only a few minutes into the beating and Garn was covered in blood.

Rust stopped for a moment and looked at the mess of a person in front of him. Garn’s face had swollen up and he no longer looked the same.
Garn still glared at Rust.

“Do you still not get it? Do you still not understand?”

Garn spit blood as he spoke.

“What is there to get? You acted like you were my friend for how many years. Then you betray me out of nowhere and you not only try and have me framed and killed but you also kill my innocent apprentice. Why you did it, I don’t know. Maybe you were jealous of me or wanted my position and authority, none of that matters now does it. All I know is that you’re killing an innocent man.”

Garn’s arms continued to shake unnaturally beneath him while Rust’s eyes went wide.

“Is that what you think? Is that what you believe? Garn…Protector of Treia, Protector of the north. How many wars have you been in? How many lives have you taken? You are the last person that I would call innocent. The men you killed had families. No one ever thinks about those left behind. No one ever thinks about the women and children that have to carry on living after a brother, father or husband is killed in action. How many women did you cause to be a widow and how many children did you orphan. How many people do you think wish you dead. My father, he…”

Rust shook his head.

“You wouldn’t know him but this track and its end, you are the one and only person who put yourself on that path the day you sent him to his grave.”

Garn’s expression changed for a moment.

“What, out of everything you could have told me you tell such a lie. Hmph, you told me long ago that your father died of illness, which was it?”

“Both, he was wounded from a bolt of lightning that you fired. Because of it, he suffered grave injuries and his leg had to be amputated. An infection got in and we couldn’t afford medicine nor magic to heal him. He suffered in his bed in agony, dying slowly over the next month. The entire time he cursed your name, all the way up until the end”

“How can you blame me for something that happened during a war so long ago? Even if his death is my fault, that is the cost of the battlefield. Why should I let someone kill me? Instead of defending myself I should just allow someone to take my life, never. As long as I’m alive, I will always fight back.”

“You still take no responsibility for your actions. Even after all this time you just say it was war. You of all people, the man who could have ruled this entire kingdom and prevented wars from happening in the first place but because you were a loyal dog how many millions suffered? You have held such overwhelming power for so long and never once put it to good use. If you did not exist my father would probably still be alive today. If you would have just ruled then my father would have definitely still been alive. But because you follow the whims of a weak king and you only act when he says so, millions continue to suffer today. This is why I hate you. This is why every time I pat you on the back extra hard and you grimaced in pain, it was not to tease you out of friendship but to pass a little bit of my pain, my mother’s pain, and my father’s pain to you. Little by little you got a small taste of what we suffered but in the end, it was not enough to satisfy the hatred within my heart.”

Garn’s body continued to tremble and Rust smiled.

“I still need to kill a fool of a king so although I’d love to continue this for a bit longer but it seems I’m out of time.”

Garn smiled at Rust and laughed.

“You’re right, I have followed the orders of a weak and foolish king and have not properly taken responsibility, but it’s fine now. I will personally right my wrongs.”

Rust shook his head at Garn.

“You stupid old man, you no longer have the chance.”

Rust lifted Garn by his collar but Garn for some strange reason continued to laugh.

Rust lifted a brow in confusion.

“Why are you still laughing.”

Garn laughed harder at this question.

“Because…you’re also right about one more thing.”

“And that would be?”

Garn slowly extended his hand and placed it over Rust’s chest. With a fiendish grin, he said.

“You are out of time.”

*PShuuuoon*

Rust suddenly felt a strange and odd feeling in his upper body. Looking down, he saw that there was a large hole in his chest. He felt all the power in his body drain away, causing him to drop Garn and fall backward onto his ass.

“You… What have you done.”

Garn opened the hand he had just touched Rust with and revealed a small fleshy item that weakly pulsed. Seeing what it was, Rust tried to speak but found only part of his words left his mouth.

“My…Hea…How?”

Rust looked back down at his chest and saw that there was a small rock where his heart used to be. Looking at the floor underneath where Garn had been on all fours, Rust could see a small circle drawn with blood.

“You…you…”

Blood poured from both his mouth and his chest like a fountain and his vision began to fade. Garn slowly limped over to him and stood over his powerless body.

“A Stazar Void Rock is quite the interesting object. Its element is space. With it, you can both stabilize space as well as unstabilize space but its other feature, the one your suffering now is its capability to teleport objects to and fro.”

Garn dropped the heart from his hand and showed Rust his palm. A small inscription was written on it with blood.

“While you were beating the shit out of me, I was drawing these wonderful little spells with blood. One to teleport the Stazar Void Rock out my hand and switch it with your heart while the spell on the floor was used as an amplifier. Without a magic tool, my power is quite limited and drawing an inscription with blood made the spell even weaker. By touching you though, the spell had just enough range to work. Hehehe, I told you, as long as I’m alive, I will always fight back.”

Rust breathing became shallower and shallower. He tried to form a sentence, he tried to be angry but his head became muddled and his thoughts fuzzy. All he could do was stare at Garn with a wondering look until finally his vision went black and he was dead.
