Lamia’s doorman had knelt down and urgently reported about Kazuki and Nunully being caught on a recording, killing their way out of the sky prison. They were wanted criminals and soldiers were roaming the streets looking for them when a large explosion rocked the entire city.

*Boom!*

The room they were in shook and Lamia and Nunully were having trouble keeping their balance but after a second the trembling stopped. Everyone stared at one another in pure fright. They had never heard such a loud sound in their entire lives.

Lamia turned to her doorman and without a word being said between the two, the doorman nodded his head.

“Right, give me a moment.”

The doorman stood up and focused his eyes on the other side of the room. His eyes began to change color and went through the spectrum of the rainbow until the settled on 1 white eye and the other a faint green. The man’s vision went through the wall in front of him, then through the building after that and continued on and on until his eyes found the source of the explosion.

The doorman swallowed hard as he explained what he saw.

“Boss, most of the palace is gone. Master Garn is meditating and in front of him a large portion of the city has disappeared completely and fires are burning for miles. Also, the place that’s been destroyed has a large concentration of magical energy and that spot is slowly spreading out. I fear that a beast core has gone off in our capital.”

The doorman filled everyone in and told them what he saw before his eyes returned to their usual color.

“Boss, what are your orders?”

Before Lamia could speak, Danny stood up and looked around the room.

“We should go help them, right? I mean, that’s what heroes do.”

Shin’s face scrunched slightly.

“Help them, did you already forget that this elf lady and Ryuta are now wanted criminals. Besides, the bouncer over there just told us that Garn is at the epicenter of that explosion. The King clearly placed him under house arrest yet now he is sitting over there where the throne room used to be and is holding the King’s scepter. Can you not put two and two together. Also that information officer Itsu, out of everyone in the kingdom, only he came forward and opposed not only Rust but the King himself in defense of Garn, so the two of them were obviously close. Tell me, Danny, who was that arrested Ryuta and tortured him.”

Danny fell silent as there was no way of refuting anything Shin was saying.

“Since Itsu and Garn are close, what do you think will happen when Garn finds out that Itsu was killed. Also, what do you think will happen to us who are clearly on Ryuta’s side. Hell, even if we aren’t with Ryuta, do you think Garn will simply take our word for it? If Garn was willing to blow up the city, do you think he won’t harm us to get answers about Ryuta and his whereabouts. It seems like we can no longer stay in this city.”

Shin shook his head.

“Maybe not even in this country.”

The mood in the room became quite somber and gloomy. Shin’s words were dead on. Even if they all claimed to have nothing to do with Ryuta, there was no reason for Garn to believe them and no reason that he wouldn’t torture them to get the truth out of them.

The doorman knelt down once more.

“Boss, what the young man says is true. The power in this country has already changed hands. Now is the best opportunity to get the young miss as far away from here as possible. With the entire city in a confused panic, there will be no better time than now.”

Lamia thought for a moment before she came to a bitter decision.

“Go get me some gold.”

“Boss, how much?”

Lamia took a ring off of her finger and tossed it over.

“As much as this ring can hold, now go.”

The doorman caught the ring nodded and left to fulfill his master’s orders.

Lamia’s snake-like eyes focused on Kazuki as she spoke.

“Ryuta, I need a favor from you, will you hear my request?”

Kazuki sat up straight on the couch and readjusted himself. He could already guess at what she was going to say and was ready to reject her but before he could she already grasped his hands and smiled with appreciation.

“Right, you’re a man of gratitude and know when to help a gal out. I want you to take Nunully to someplace safe for me, you’ll do it won’t you?”

Kazuki was really in no mood for such a request but if there was a nice reward, then he wouldn’t necessarily mind. Just as he was about to ask about a reward though, Lamia pulled him in close and whispered in his ear.

“You’ll do this for me won’t you, otherwise my lips might loosen about our adventures the other day. That fiery haired girl seems to have a huge crush on you. What would happen were she to learn of such a thing.”

(Blackmail, really? This bitch.)

Kazuki without anyone noticing pinched Lamia’s nipple and twisted. Lamia’s almost released a squeal of both pleasure and pain but she just barely contained herself. Kazuki whispered back to her.

“Tell them or don’t, I don’t give a fuck but if you lose my trust now, you may never be able to get it back again, the choice is yours. As for this little job, as I recall you still owe me a few items, so why would I simply do this for free?”

Right on cue, the doorman reentered the room and held out a small golden ring in front of Lamia.

“Boss.”

Lamia turned painfully but maintained a normal appearance. Grabbing the ring she presented it to Kazuki.

“This should more than compensate you, don’t you agree.”

Kazuki removed his fingers from Lamia’s chest and took the ring suspiciously. Putting it on his finger he merely had to focus slightly and his consciousness was allowed to peer into the ring. What he saw before him made him smile inwardly.

“Haha, ok, I will take Nunully wherever you want me too.”

(With this amount of gold, once I find a suitable city, I should be able to get the ingredients I need easily and my core will finally be reforged.)

Asuna and the others jumped up and disagreed.

“What are you talking about, you can’t just go off somewhere. You haven’t even seen if the rest of us agree.”

Shin jumped in as well.

“Asuna’s right, you can’t just decide things without the group’s consent. I mean this could be dangerous and who knows what we’ll have to deal with without the kingdom’s backing.”

Everyone seemed to agree with Asuna and Shin but Kazuki didn’t see things the way they did.

“I didn’t ask you all for permission because you’re not coming with me. I’ll be doing this on my own.”

This news stunned everyone, and of course Asuna was the first to react.

“What the hell, are you crazy? You’re going to go on your own, no way, I won’t agree to that. We have to stick together no matter what.”

“No, this doesn’t concern any of you. I will take Nunully on my own and you guys can head to Jin or Maoudou where the rest of the heroes are. That way you guys will be safe, so even if Garn decides to come after you all, the other kingdoms will shield you.”

Shin felt pissed.

“You think we’re gonna allow that bullshit? Your going prancing out into the wilderness without help is just asking for your head to fall. You’d have better odds jumping into a river in the middle of winter if you ask me.”

Kazuki couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed.

“Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t ask you.”

Shin’s face warped and he felt anger boiling up within him. He grabbed Kazuki by the collar but before he could do anything he felt a strong grip on his shoulder. Looking behind him, Sam’s figure seemed to tower over him. Shin didn’t even have to think what this meant and released Kazuki, and stepped out of the way. Sam stood in front of Kazuki and peered into his eyes for a moment before giving him a fierce headbutt.

Kazuki was sent flying over the couch and Sam walked over to him. Asuna and the others were frightened and grabbed Sam trying to prevent him from moving forward but with Sam’s inhuman strength, even with them all hanging on he still easily took step after step.

Kazuki rubbed his forehead painfully. Even though his body was enhanced from both the magic blood orb and his ki, he still felt some pain from Sam’s blow.

(Damn this fucking ogre. If I didn’t also have ki, I’d be bleeding all over the floor right now.)

Kazuki stared up at Sam and was ready to throw his own blowback if Sam pushed things but to his surprise, Sam leaned down and offered a hand.

Kazuki didn’t know exactly what Sam was thinking but knowing how Sam normally thought, it was probably along the lines of, with this headbutt I’ll knock some sense into him. Kazuki grabbed his hand and stood up. He continued to rub his head although the pain was already gone and waited for some spiel from Sam and just like he thought Sam brought the cheese.

“Ryuta, this isn’t like you. Why are you acting like such a jerk? I don’t know what’s going through your head right now but you can tell us, we won’t be mad or think you’re weird. We’re your friends. No matter what, you can’t get rid of us. Where you go, we go.”

Kazuki sighed inwardly. Now that things had gone to shit in the capitol, it was the perfect excuse to ditch Asuna and the others so he could go his separate path. Only with Garn and this kingdom watching him could he not do what he needed to. With the kingdom in this dire straight, he no longer needed to stay here and pretend to be Ryuta. The main reason he took on this disguise is because he didn’t know which country he would be summoned to.

If he were summoned to the dark continent with his regular appearance and was recognized, he could be captured on the spot. Being on the dark continent, the aura from his compass could also give away who he was and his enemies could get to him even faster. He didn’t want to but he was prepared to throw this precious object of his away if need be. But since he was summoned a continent away, it gave him time to gather supplies so he could hide the compass’ aura. Plus, he doubted anyone would recognize his real appearance on the Feya continent anyway.

Reforging his Mage core was still the most important thing for him but if he could hide his compass’ aura and not be discovered then it would give him a slight edge. In the end, this all came back to his identity. If he continues to pretend to be Ryuta he can have 5 heroes that have massive potential at his back, which in turn gives him a huge advantage. The downside though is it could take longer to do everything he needed to do.

(Damn, If I shake them off of me and disappear I can get things done more quickly but they are correct about the danger I face going at it alone. At the same time, continuously fooling them into believing I’m Ryuta is a pain in the ass.)

Kazuki’s thoughts were tumbling about. but in the end, he decided it would be best to leave them. That’s what he wanted to do but he soon realized he no longer had the power to make the decision.

*Bang!*

A loud crashing sound rang out from a few floors down below. The doorman peered downward and reported.

“Boss! Soldiers are flooding in and they’re headed up this way!”
