With the mention of gold Zeni, the old lady’s mood perked up once more. Kazuki willed his ring and 2,000 gold Zeni fell out. One by one the coins stacked up neatly until there were 50 stacks of 40 gold each.
The old lady’s eyes lit up.
“Good, with this much gold I can finally finish off a few projects.”
Confirming the amount, with a snap of her fingers, the bag beside her began to suck all of the coins inside like a vacuum. A moment later and the Zeni was all gone, disappeared into her bag.
Holding the bag up she squeezed it with delight before tucking it into her cleavage.
Kazuki as well waved his hand over the 13 Nexar crystals as well as the Stazar Void rock. With that their business was complete.
“It was a pleasure doing business with you, um…I still have yet to get your name or maybe you don’t wish to disclose that to me.”
“Oh, are you planning to leave me already, but we’ve barely had one drink.”
Kazuki could see a bit of light fade from the old woman’s eyes and sighed within himself.
(Well, another drink wouldn’t kill me.)
Picking up the bottle of alcohol, Kazuki filled his cup as well as the old lady’s bringing a smile to her face.
The woman banged the cup with Kazuki’s and chugged it away. Wiping her mouth with her sleeve she laughed.
“Hahaha, I knew you couldn’t leave my side. I guess I’m just too popular with the fellas. The name’s Tilly and you, boy?”
Kazuki wiped his mouth and refilled their cups. Clanking them together, he introduced himself.
“You can call me Ryuta. Tilly was it, nice to meet you, now let’s drink.”

Kazuki wobbled for a few hundred feet until he turned down a certain alley and was out of sight from Tilly’s mansion. As soon as he stepped out from the other side of the alley and walked on the main road, he appeared to be another person completely. He straightened up and walked like he hadn’t just been drinking for the past 5 hours. The silly grin he had on the way out from Tilly’s, had once more returned back to a calm and collected person.
His eyes that had reddened and the smell of alcohol on his breath vanished as he circulated his ki through his body. Stretching his back, he felt refreshed.
Looking up at the sun that had just risen, he thought about the fun he had.
(That Tilly lady is quite the character. Hanging with her was a delight.)
Kazuki had only wanted to have a drink or two with the old lady but as they sat there and talked, Tilly’s stories were full of interesting and wild things. It turns out she was a 3rd level Mage and had traveled all over the Feya continent in her younger days. The only thing was, her talent in magic was subpar and even after training for 70 years she had remained stuck at the 3rd stage for nearly 50 years. Kazuki could tell that although she had been stuck at the 3rd stage, her abilities and techniques were beyond that of some average nobody at the same stage.
When she found that she could no longer advance on the path of magic, her course changed. She met her husband in Edngaul when it was a small village of a few hundred people. She fell in love and started a family. However, her path was not quite finished. She took to crafting magic tools and inscribing incredibly well and made a fortune selling her wares. Eventually turning this small village into a small town.
After that, some unfortunate things happened after her husband died and she became depressed. Afterward, she simply retired and worked on a few projects when she was bored. Now she mostly keeps to herself and hangs around the house in boredom. Every now and again, someone will wish to obtain certain items and she will gather them just for the fun of it.
Kazuki shook his head in thought.
(Still for her to be engaging in illegal activities even though her son is the lord of this town, she really is off her rocker.)
Making his way to the alley outside the Half Hog Inn, Kazuki found the window to his room still open and after looking around to make sure no one was watching he jumped to the second story in one leap.
Seeing the crude yet soft bed, Kazuki fell forward, feeling the effects of sleepiness trying to overtake him. With his head on the pillow, it felt slightly damp from the morning dew. It seems keeping the window open all night left his pillow and part of the bed a bit damp. Kazuki didn’t like the feeling on his skin but his eyelids didn’t care how he felt as they became as heavy as boulders. No longer able to fight gravity, his eyelids finally shut and his breathing became calm and steady.

Sitting at the table, Kazuki was starving. As he devoured his morning bread he started to choke and a bowl of soup was pushed toward him.
“Boy, how many times do I have to tell you, you’re no longer in the dumps. Eat your food at a reasonable pace will ya.”
A tall man barked at Kazuki lovingly.
For some reason, his face couldn’t be made out clearly.
Kazuki nodded while desperately chugging the warm bowl of soup, causing it to spill and run down his chin.
“Haha, brother, you need to be more careful.”
A hand extended forward and with a clean cloth, the one who called Kazuki brother, wiped his face for him while smiling.
Once again Kazuki could not make out what this other person’s face looked like.
“Hmpf, you two baby him way too much, He’s already 9 and he can’t eat without spilling his food, what a dumb baby. Hmpf, Kazuki, you may be good at magic and studying but if you can’t even eat food properly you’re no better then a stupid ugly pig.”
The tall man sitting at the table slammed a fist on the table and roared in anger.
“FERA! How many times must I tell you to not treat your brother as lesser!?”
A heavenly voice drifted over as a tall slender woman entered the room.
“Fera, your father’s right, Kazuki and Kai are your brothers and we don’t treat family like that, now apologize.”
Kazuki could make out the face of the woman. She was quite beautiful and looked as though she were carved from jade. Perfect Sapphire eyes with long lashes and a small nose. With hair a golden brown similar to wheat and full lips, the woman looked like a painting made by a master artist.
The girl called Fera crossed her arms and pouted.
“Hmpf, no matter how many times you say it, these two are not my brothers. They are simply trash that mother and father picked up from that fat greedy hag. I will never call them my family.”
Fera glared at Kazuki in pure hatred. Even then he recognized it as so but he never knew why. Once again he could make out this face as well. The features though were not worth remembering but even now he couldn’t forget them. How could he ever forget that demon’s face.

“ryu…ta…ry..u..ta.”
“RYUTA! LET HER GO!”
Kazuki’s eyes snapped open and he awoke. He was in the Half Hog Inn and yet what he felt just a moment ago was so real.
In his grip, he held Nunully by the neck. In a daze he quickly released her, causing her to fall to her knees and cough in pain.
Asuna was already at her side helping her. She screamed at Kazuki in a fit of rage.
“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT!?”
Kazuki’s eyes finally focused as he realized what he had done.
“I…I’m sorry, I was having a dream.”
Asuna barked at him, cutting him off.
“THAT’S NO EXCUSE YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HER.”
Asuna picked Nunully up and carried her out of the room. It was only now that Kazuki noticed everyone else’s presence. Sam looked at Kazuki with disgust before he turned around and left with Kimi. Tsura and Mei left to help Nunully. They didn’t really know what to think. Only Danny and Shin were left. Danny rubbed his chin in thought before inquiring.
“Who exactly is Fera?”
Cold sweat ran down Kazuki’s back as he glared at Danny. Danny quickly felt an immediate sense of danger and fell on his ass. Shin though laughed it off. Helping Danny up, he questioned Kazuki’s attitude.
“Hahaha. Ryuta is that any kind of look you should give to your friends. You look like you’re ready to kill Danny just because he asked you a simple question. Fine, you might as well direct that glare at me because I also want to know why you hate this Fera person so much that it caused you to nearly squeeze the life out of Nunully.”
The two waited for a moment in silence waiting for Kazuki’s answer but there was no reply.
Shin no longer laughed and asked seriously.
“Why is it that the more I get to know you, I find that I really know nothing and that you are hiding something. Maybe I should just ask Sam and Asuna but again I feel like they won’t know the answers, why is that. Ryu…ta?”
Shin walked out with those words. Danny rubbed his ass as he looked annoyed.
“You don’t want to tell anyone anything, fine, but how can you expect us to trust you if you won’t even say anything? Yea, it’s true you are the main reason we’ve survived up til now but how much further can we go if we stop trusting one another. Maybe things would be better if some of us separated from one another.”
Danny shook his head and slammed the door shut behind him.
Kazuki looked at his hand and felt rage. Not at Danny or the others but at a certain someone.
(WHY…WHY DID I DREAM ABOUT THAT BITCH!)
After all this time, he could no longer remember his father or his brother’s face but his hatred instilled every single detail of that demon’s face.
Kazuki balled his fist and slammed it into the wall behind him.
*Bam!*
The wall exploded and collapsed, scaring the couple on the other side.
The two screamed and wondered what was happening but Kazuki ignored them and walked out while feeling his stomach twist inside.
