Kazuki felt a slight daze before he shook it away without a second thought.

In front of him, Asuna laid limply on the ground. Her mind still lost in the abyss. Behind him, Sam, along with Kimi and Nunully guarded against the large insect creature. Every muscle upon Sam’s body bulged out and even his veins twitched beneath his skin as he used every ounce of his strength to hold the monster’s body up and keep it from crushing Kazuki and Asuna. On his right side, Kimi held her staff in place and continuously pushed her power forward, causing the barrier spell to help Sam. On his left, Nunully as well held her staff in place and made a short yet thick pillar of ice to help support Sam.

All three were putting there all into either their bodies or spells as they defended Kazuki and Asuna from death. Once more Sam shouted behind him.

“RYUTA! ASUNA! WAKE UP! I CAN’T KEEP HOLDING IT!”

Shin appeared next to Kazuki and Asuna. He went to help Kazuki up but Kazuki pushed him away.

“Get Asuna to safety, I’ll be fine.”

Shin wanted to say something but the moment he locked eyes with Kazuki, the hair upon the back of his neck stood at attention as a feeling of fear crept into the corner of his heart.

“Hurry and go!”

Kazuki shouted at him before he stood up.

Shin said nothing and picked up Asuna before kicking off the ground and disappearing to the outer edge of the village where the other villagers had fled to.

Kazuki moved past Sam and the others and picked up Sam’s fallen Warhammer.

Sam felt relief seeing that Asuna was no longer in danger and that Kazuki was ok.

“Sam, hold it for just another second.”

Seeing Kazuki’s back that felt the imposing figure in front of them and stared in awe. Sam and the others nodded and focused their power to the utmost limit.

Standing by the creature, Kazuki lifted the Warhammer up as though it were a baseball bat. Pushing his ki throughout his entire body, Kazuki pivoted his foot and drove power through it. His hips swung slightly and his tense core contracted heavily before releasing like a steel coiled spring. His grip tightened for but a moment before his arms swung forward with everything he had.

The air trembled as the Warhammer tore through it before hitting the creature’s stomach.

*BAM!!*

The human face on the creature warped in pain as it was thrown back almost 10 feet. Though that may not seem like a lot, considering its entire body was around 100 feet long, you could chalk that up as a small victory.

With Kazuki’s strength and his added ki, his power was tremendous but he wasn’t finished yet.

Kazuki looked up to the sky and roared at the top of his lungs.

“MEIIIIII!!”

At first, there was no response before…

*SCREEEEEEEEE*

The world around the ugly insect became silent.

*FWOoosh*

Up above on this cold winter night, a large black bird descended down like a meteor. With a flap of her wings, Mei gained more and more speed. Faster Faster Faster.

The monster was left completely unaware of the being above.

Mei in her Mangshi form was over 20 feet in length. With her metallic-like feathers, Mei tucked them in and her body became like a battering ram as she aimed for the creature’s head.

As the two collided, the sound of metal striking metal exploded out in every direction or rather it would have if Mei’s powers didn’t completely suppress the thunderous noise.

The creature’s body slammed hard into the ground, causing a crater to form beneath it.

Dark purple blood flowed from its human-like face and a few cracks appeared over the length of its body.

Kazuki had told Mei beforehand that if a fight broke out, he wanted her to watch from the air. Only if he called her would she be allowed to enter the fray. Not because he was so confident but rather because he wanted to test the waters. Now that he saw how dangerous the situation was, there was no reason to hold anything back.

Mei continued her attacks.

Mei took her sharp talons and dug them into the creature’s neck. The creature in return thrashed about violently and spun about on the ground. Mei was about to rip into it further when the rest of its body wrapped her up. Mei saw her body becoming trapped and began to flap her wings in response to try and break free but the Centipede like creature wrapped its body around one of her free wings and held her in place.

Mei flapped her other wing but without both of them, she couldn’t generate enough power to escape and she became bound.

With it holding onto Mei, It’s body as well no longer had free movement. For some reason, Kazuki felt rage watching this and his brother’s words echoed inside his mind once more.

(KILL THEM ALL!)

Kazuki called out to Shin.

“SHIN! OPEN ITS BACK!”

Shin had just returned from the edge of the village when Kazuki gave his order.

Shin looked for an opening, which there were many of before he kicked out 3 blades of wind.

“Viper Whip!”

All three blades came slashing down on the back of the Centipede thing and all three were in the same spot. The first one left a long scratch followed by the second one cracking its armor and the third lacerating its flesh.

The Monster couldn’t do much and focused on trying to crush Mei. If it could kill Mei quickly it could defend itself properly and fight back.

As Mei was squeezed tighter and tighter, she let out a painful roar.

Kazuki raced forward full of rage. Jumping on its back where the wound Shin created was at, Kazuki shoved both of his hands into the open gash. Although the wound was big, because of the creatures tough flesh, Kazuki found it hard to force his hands inside. Still, he gathered strength and pushed them deeper and deeper until he was almost shoulder deep.

Kazuki’s hands moved peculiarly and his fingers moved with purpose. One hand sign after another formed in quick succession. At the same time, everyone else didn’t let up and continued to attack without reserve. Nunully launched ice spear after ice spear but they could barely scratch the surface. Sam struck it with his Warhammer but after holding the creature up for only a few seconds he felt that most of his strength was now gone and his body was exhausted. Shin as well had launched too many wind blades and felt his reserves running dry and Kimi’s light could neither blind the creature or burn its armor-like shell. Still, they pounded away until Kazuki finally moved.

The power from his ancient hand signs, after making almost a hundred different and complex symbols it was ready.

At this time a single word appeared within Kazuki’s mind.

(BURN!)

Two small blue flames materialized over his hands and covered them like gloves. As soon as that happened, the temperature shot up to a blazing 2,600° degrees Fahrenheit and continued to climb.

The creature feeling this heat inside its back immediately twisted about in anguish. It released Mei and rolled about as if it were insane. This caused Kazuki to fall off but the damage had already been done.

Even after being thrown off, the human face Centipede tossed itself all over and barrel-rolled while roaring in pain.

*RRROOOOAAAARRRRRR!*

Mei shot up to the sky and sensed the scene below. As she didn’t sense what Kazuki was doing, she couldn’t believe what was happening down below and was left confused. One minute she’s about to be crushed to death and the next the one who almost killed her is now flipping about suffering in agony. She sensed Kazuki’s presence on the ground but she could only feel a calm steady heart from him. She could tell that all of this was nothing to him, while the others were clearly startled, to say the least.

Building after building was brought down as the ugly bug crashed into them. Shin and the others were unsure of what to do. They wondered if they should continue attacking it and looked to Kazuki but Kazuki shook his head.

Right now it was the most dangerous time. Kazuki was unsure if his attack would kill the creature or not and because of that, it made the situation very critical. It may appear to be weakening but it wasn’t worth the risk of being hit with a random blow.

This battle had only gone on for less than 10 minutes but everyone was nearing exhaustion. Nunully and Kimi had used up nearly all of their magic just trying to block its body from crushing Kazuki and Asuna and Shin had used too many wind blades, drying up his tank as well. Sam had already been knocked back into several buildings and then pushed his strength to the limit as he helped hold the creature’s heavy body up. He still had plenty of energy left but that didn’t do anything for his screaming muscles.

The ones with the most energy were definitely Mei, followed by Asuna and Kazuki. Asuna though was unconscious, and with the creature’s wild thrashing, Kazuki could no longer get in close without the threat of being crushed into meat paste.

Everyone could tell though that once this creature stopped moving it would be extremely weak. At that time, that’s when they would pounce. All they had to do now, was wait.
