Kazuki left the cave and got both Nunully and Shin. Shin was badly injured earlier and so Nunully stayed behind with him to work on his injuries while everyone else went after the kidnapped Mei. After convincing the two everything was fine he made them promise not to freak out when they entered the depth of the cave.

The reason to go into the cave instead of lead the others out was simply because fake Zetsu could better hide everyone’s presence within the cave system using his power. They weren’t too worried about being discovered by the real Zetsu seeing as how he should still be recovering but Kazuki and fake Zetsu agreed better safe than sorry.

As soon as Nunully saw that everyone was collapsed and unconscious, she rushed to their side and inspected them. Seeing no wounds, her heart grew worried thinking it was another soul attack. That’s when fake Zetsu who was blending in with the nearby cave wall cleared his throat and made his presence known.

*Ahem*

Nunully felt a chill run up her spine. Her head slowly turned around and when she spotted fake Zetsu casually by Kazuki’s side, she nearly screamed in fright.

“Ryuta Look Out!”

Nunully swung her staff forward and 2 spears of ice formed in front of her before she fired them without hesitation. Fake Zetsu wasn’t worried about the ice spears but Kazuki thought things needed to be made clear right away. Stepping in front of the incoming ice spears, Kazuki slapped at the air and chopped the two spears in half simultaneously.

*Chank Crunch*

The ice crashed into the ground at his sides.

“Nunully, No More! This creature is not Zetsu and as of this moment is an ally. Do you get it!?”

Nunully continued to grip her staff tightly but her voice held confusion.

“But but but.”

“Nunully, it’s ok, this one is not our enemy. Just look, I’m standing directly in front of it yet it isn’t attacking me. This one is good.”

Fake Zetsu chuckled behind Kazuki’s back.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily good, more like I won’t cause harm to those I ally myself with. If that’s considered good, hmm, that’s just how it goes I guess.”

Hearing this large centipede talk so casually, Nunully couldn’t help but swallow dryly. Her grip loosened slightly on her staff but her guard never fully fell.

Shin, on the other hand, had prepared to kick out several Viper Whips at once but as soon as he heard the conversation he was left stunned at this odd turn.

Fake Zetsu turned toward him and eyed him up and down.

“Ah, you’re the premature guy right?”

The power of wind gathered around Shin dissipated with a whomp hearing that comment. Nunully’s ears turned bright red and even Kazuki slapped his own forehead.

Shin stammered out in a mixture of confused embarrassment and anger.

“Wh…what is…th…that supposed to mean?”

“Hmm, it means exactly what it means. When you first encountered me outside the cave you rushed in and attacked me without even properly identifying me as the real Zetsu. You jumped to conclusions. Premature is premature.”

Kazuki rolled his eyes understanding what fake Zetsu meant but Shin felt like cursing a million times in his heart.

“That’s not premature you damn bug. That was just a miscalculation on my part, nothing more. What premature crap bullshit are you spouting?”

Fake Zetsu’s antennas began rubbing his large chin in thought. He didn’t understand why this small human got so upset with his words.

“You humans are so weird and why is that half-elf turning red, is she sick or something?”

Nunully dropped her staff and grabbed both of her ears, trying her best to hide them in her hands but the tips couldn’t be covered completely and jutted out of the top of her little fist burning bright red.

(Their thoughts are too immature, god get it together.)

Kazuki shook his head.

“Fake Zetsu ignore them, they were just a little thrown from your remarks. Let’s get to the task at hand.”

Seeing that he was being ignored, his anger outgrew his courage and he barked at Kazuki while pointing at fake Zetsu.

“Ryuta explain what the hells going on. You drag us in here with such a weird situation, start talking you prick, what is this and what’s all this about being allies with that…that thing?”

Kazuki didn’t feel like multiple explanations but if he didn’t give Shin an answer, Shin was likely to talk an ear off. The choice became obvious. Kazuki pointed at Fake Zetsu and started to explain.

“This here is…?”

Only now did Kazuki realize he never got Fake Zetsu’s name.

Fake Zetsu did a bowing gesture and introduced himself.

“I’m called Retsu Gai, you can call me Retsu if you’d like.”

After the introduction, Kazuki gave Shin the brief of it all.

Shin gulped hard.

“So your a god and Zetsu is also a god that committed a crime and tunneled here. You followed to capture him and take him back to be punished by your clan but because you two came to this lower realm both your bodies and powers are weakened to that of a fraction and it made things difficult for you. Zetsu’s been getting stronger feeding on souls and you’ve grown weaker and so you want our help, that’s the gist of it all, right?”

Kazuki and Retsu both noded along together, while Shin released a long sigh.

*Haa*

Nunully slowly raised her hand, sparking a confused look from both Kazuki and Retsu.

“What is it half-elf?”

“I don’t want to be rude but my mother always told me that the gods were supposed to be, how do you put it, high and above it all. They would never talk so casually with a mortal or even ask one for help but you…”

“What, I don’t meet the young lady’s expectations, hahaha. Let me tell you this, theirs millions of gods all with totally different personalities. We all act how we see fit. Don’t get me wrong, under normal circumstances I would probably never communicate so casually with a mortal. Not for the reason, you may think though. Naturally, I and mortals have absolutely nothing in common. Not only that, nearly every conversation would flow the same. For example, it would usually go like this.”

—————————————————————————-
“Hello, I’m…”

“Oh my god! oh mighty lord and savior praise thee, praise thee to the heavens.”

“Um, wait a moment I just want to…”

“What is it my lord. Anything you wish, shall I sacrifice 10 head of cattle anything anything, my lord.”

—————————————————————————-

“The conversation would go like that or it would go the complete opposite with every form of wishers and beggars just asking me to give them stuff. That’s how a lot of the conversations go. Or the mortal passes out. Or a million other ridiculous scenarios happen. Not only that, even if they remain calm, the conversation would still be boring. A mortal’s knowledge is not only limited but their deepest comprehension is nothing compared to a god whos lived for millions of years. The point is, mortals are just a bore or a bother for the most part.”

Retsu gave a curious wink to Kazuki.

“Sometimes though, an odd or weird situation like this may occur. tunneling into this realm, my power and body are weakened considerably. This poses a slight challenge. Not only that, if I die here, I may not fully die as my soul that resides within this body will return back to my realm and enter my true body but my soul will suffer a small amount of damage, this again presents although a very insignificant amount of risk, its still a risk. And I have gotten to meet this fellow here, who has indeed stimulated me with some of his conversations.”

Nunully wasn’t expecting such an answer at all and felt silent.

“Ok forget about the boring stuff from Nunully, I’m sure Ryuta asked about a reward right? What do we get when we complete this mission successfully? Gold, a godly weapon, a cheat skill?”

Retsu lowered his large head until his face was directly in front of Shin’s sending a creepy chill down Shin’s spine.

“Boy, do you really want to know what this great god will bestow unto thee?”

Shin covered his nose and waved at the foul air in front of him.

“Yes but please don’t breathe so close to my face, you almost melted my brows.”

Retsu pulled back and waved his antennas in front of his open mouth to get a whiff of his breath. Smelling nothing, in particular, he grinned at Shin and laughed.

“Bwahahahaha, to think you have the balls to say that a god has bad breath, bwahahaha, I guess there is one more interesting mortal in this realm.”

Kazuki looked at the self-satisfied expression on Shin’s face as he was being praised by a god.

(Haaa. That’s Shin for ya.)

Nunully once again rose her hand gingerly and asked.

“Um, when exactly do you plan on awakening our friends, I’m sure they must feel trapped or terrified in their right?”

Retsu slapped his face with his antennas.

“Ah, right, I knew I was forgetting something.”
