Fast, she was far too fast. Muteki could barely follow her movements with his eyes. Everyone else, including Kazuki, could only see a blurred moving object. One thing was clear though, the woman clearly said she came for an object Kazuki had.

Muteki as well didn’t know quite what to do. Reya stood before him and held out her hand, wanting his medallion which held high authority. He wondered why the name of her Queen sounded so familiar. That’s when he felt stupid. He had just seen Kazuki’s memories. Kazuki had an adopted sister called Fera and the two were sworn, enemies. Muteki put two and two together and realized the Queen Reya mentioned was, in fact, Kazuki’s sister.

Kazuki as well realized who Reya served and it burned his guts.

(So my sister really did send someone to hunt me. She doesn’t seem to be after my life though, otherwise, with that speed of hers alone she could have killed me immediately. She’s after the compass.)

Kazuki’s emotions were complex at the moment. The compass had truly been invaluable to him. It was a keepsake from his adopted father and it had even helped him learn a new way to use magic as well as lead him back to this world. At the same time, the situation he was in led him to a tight spot in which there was no way he would be able to keep it.

Kazuki cursed himself. Once again his sister would get what she wanted but now as Garn’s prisoner, he would also be tortured and put to death. He would die in a dungeon like an abandoned mutt, beaten and bruised, cold and hungry and just barely kept alive until the day Garn grew bored and ended him.

(No! I can’t die, not yet. I don’t care about the torture and pain but death, I can not allow that. There has to be something, anything.)

Kazuki’s mind reeled and the gears turned like crazy.

(Some way out, another path that I’m not seeing. There has to be, there has to b…!?)

Kazuki gripped his fist tightly behind his back while in deep thought when he felt his storage ring on his finger and it hit him like a ton of bricks.

(That’s it!)

Kazuki looked over at Reya who had just put out her hand and he shouted her way.

“You said your name was Reya!?”

Reya looked past Muteki and saw Kazuki staring at her intently.

“Ah, Kazuki wait just a bit I’ll collect what I’ve come to collect from you in just a moment but first I’m interested in this Medallion that this man claims can allow one to do whatever they want.”

Muteki grew anxious hearing that. He was about to say something when Kazuki yelled over once more.

“I have a deal I wish to make with you!”

Reya’s brows rose in confusion. What could this weakling offer her she wondered? Varia grew angry and barked at Kazuki.

“Shut the hell up, you imposter!”

Reya didn’t take Kazuki’s words seriously and her eyes drifted back to the medallion in Muteki’s hands, greed returned to her face.

“That man has lied! That medallion can not allow you to do whatever you want. It’s simply a piece of gold that represents authority, nothing more! What I have to offer, on the other hand, would make you either a hero or a traitor when you return back home!”

Varia stomped over and delivered her boot directly into Kazuki’s chin, sending a tooth and a splat of blood flying out from his mouth.

“I SAID SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FAKE!”

Reya tilted her head slightly.

“Is what the man says true. Is that piece of metal in your hands simply just a piece of gold?”

Muteki slowly nodded his head, careful of Reya’s movements, he watched her intently.

Reya on the other hand just crossed her arms, a mild look of disappointment on her face.

Kazuki coughed a few times and even though Varia was right next to him he spoke up once more, Leaving Asuna and the others completely confused. This time though he didn’t shout but spoke calmly as though what he said were absolute facts.

“Reya, You are gonna want to hear me out, otherwise, It won’t be my neck but yours.”

Reya saw how self-assured Kazuki was and actually became a bit intrigued. Varia though only saw it as a rat looking for any way out of their demise and kicked Kazuki again in the stomach. Then she stomped on his back repeatedly in a huff.

Reya stepped past Muteki and Muteki didn’t even try to stop her. She walked up to Varia and simply said.

“Enough, move away woman.”

Varia was in mid-kick when she heard this and froze with her leg in the air. She quickly stepped back. She and everyone else saw the way Reya had killed two of the members of her squad with absolute ease. The speed and strength Reya used was truly monstrous. Not only that, Abura had said she didn’t use any magic whatsoever but she seemed to have the strength and speed of a fourth-ranked earth Mage.

The only thing they could think of then was that she had inscription tattoos but they’ve never heard of or witnessed such inscription tattoos that granted one this type of strength. At least on the Feya continent, that type of inscription did not exist. Varia then thought about where Reya was from and the air of mystery surrounding the dark continent only grew deeper. Varia couldn’t help but distance herself from Reya as she felt soul-crushing fear just standing near her.

Muteki turned around and wondered what he should do in this type of situation. Never before had something like this happened during a mission. Should he just let Reya finish her business and be on her way. She only seemed to want an item from Kazuki and nothing more. If that were the case, then Muteki felt it best to not interfere. On the other hand, if she also wanted Kazuki then things would surely become complicated. Muteki signaled his squad members to back up and take a wait and see approach.

Reya stood in front of Kazuki, the tip of her boot almost touching his face. squatting down next to Kazuki she wondered out loud.

“You said I would want to hear what you have to say but how can that be so. You know why I’m here and you also know that I serve your older sister the Queen. Today I will be taking that compass from you and then I’ll be on my way. That’s gonna happen no matter what so don’t try and convince me otherwise. I may not look it but I have a bit of a temper and although Queen Fera didn’t order me to kill you, she also didn’t say I couldn’t. If you ask me, you being gone would be one less problem. So what is it you wish to say?”

Kazuki gave Reya a toothy grin.

“Your right, I am quite the problem and it would definitely be better for you to kill me but unfortunately, you can’t kill me.”

Reya’s brows scrunched up as she snorted.

“Hmph, you think so do you?”

Seeing those crimson eyes of hers look down on him, added with the threat in her voice would leave most shaken and scared. Kazuki though only felt confident right now. His smile only grew wider as he continued.

“No, you definitely won’t kill me, as a matter of fact, you are gonna save me and my friends from those assholes.”

With his hands still bound behind his back, Kazuki could only point at Muteki and the others with his chin. Asuna and the others felt disgust hearing Kazuki call them friends after all that they’ve seen. Danny as well felt waves of anger and hollered over toward Reya.

“Don’t listen to him. No matter what he’s lying to you. That’s all that piece of shit is capable of. Lies lies and more lies. Whatever he tells you will only be of his benefit and you will be left with the short end of the stick.”

Muteki was feeling nervous the way Kazuki and Reya’s conversation was going but with Danny’s denouncement of Kazuki, his nerves relaxed a bit and he continued to watch cautiously.

At first, Reya was displeased with Kazuki’s confidence that she wouldn’t kill him but then she smiled toward Kazuki and laughed after hearing what Danny had to say.

“Hehe, You call that guy your friend. He seems to think I can’t trust him and since your my Master’s enemy, I tend to agree. Well if that’s all you had to say…”

Kazuki interrupted her with a shout.

“NO! no…you will listen to me and you will do exactly as I say or the compass you want, well you can forget about ever taking it.”

Reya laughed and held up her ring and an arrow shined brightly as it pointed at Kazuki.

“I’ll admit you sure are cocky but unfortunately I have this. How did you think I found you from an ocean away. The compass is on you. You cannot hide that aura from me.”

Reya then shuffled around Kazuki’s clothes and patted them down before she felt something under his shirt. Ripping it open she found her masters item.

“So this is it huh?”

Kazuki went quiet and watched her carefully. Reya reached forward and just as she was about to grab the compass, Kazuki smiled at her and his ring flashed with purple light.

*Shine*

Her fingertips nearly touched the compass before it suddenly disappeared right before her eyes.

“WHAT!”

Her fiery red eyes widened in disbelief before she roared at Kazuki in fury.

“WHERE DID IT GO!”

She quickly felt him up all over but she couldn’t find it. In a panic, she held up her ring but to her surprise, the floating arrow still pointed at Kazuki or actually towards his back. She slowly moved the ring forward until the arrow brightened near Kazuki’s own ring and she realized what had happened.

She felt she had been tricked and snatched Kazuki up off the ground by his hair. Given her height and her arm’s length, she held Kazuki a few feet off the ground. She pulled back her hand until it sat like a cobra next to her waist. Clenching her fist tightly, she was ready to throw a punch of death. She screamed at the top of her lungs with rage.

“TAKE IT OUT NOW!”

Kazuki laughed at her before he looked down at his lower half.

“Why don’t you take it out for me?”

She followed his eyes and realized what he meant. She roared and threw out a single punch.

“RAHHHHHHH!”

*SHRRRREEEEEE*

The air ripped apart and screeched like a high pitched whistle cranked up to a thousand. Just as she was about to put a hole in Kazuki’s head though she changed direction at the last second and her fist shot past the side of his head. The wind was so fast from this punch that it shook what little fat he had on his face and tore his eardrum. A long horizontal cut formed on his face and it along with his ear began to bleed. Past his head, a tree in the distance was felled by the force of air alone.

Kazuki was in pain and felt as though needles were stabbing into his ear but he couldn’t help but smile at Reya.

“I told you…you will not kill me.”
