After inspecting her Mage core, she felt a presence within. She couldn’t locate it directly but she knew it was somewhere within her soul world. This feeling was one she had experienced before. The first time she absorbed Kazuki’s Mage core she felt a small fragment of the one who used to possess it.
(Kazuki, you dare!)
Fera flooded her soul world with power and the small line of damage was gone, her Mage core was once more whole.
Fera glanced at a ring on her finger and filled it with power.
—————————————————————————-
Reya had been chasing Muteki for almost 30 minutes. While he flew through the sky, she could only keep up with him by chasing him on the ground below. She could fly after him but her speed in the air was nothing compared to her movement on the ground.
Muteki as well raced ahead. Every once in a while he would look back on to feel deep resentment and frustration. No matter how much he pushed his body, his magic, He couldn’t create a real gap between him and Reya whatsoever. His only saving grace was that he was flying high up out of her reach.
Reya didn’t mind this chase though. She was actually enjoying it quite a bit. Killing someone who thinks themself invincible, crushing their spirit beneath her was a thrill she very much enjoyed.
This chased continued for a bit until the ring upon Reya’s finger lit up. As soon as it did a power shot outward up into the sky straight at Muteki’s back.
Muteki’s felt an until pressure race after him and he felt dread in his heart. He roared inside his mind
(SHIT! MOVE!)
A solid flame erupted from the palm of his hand and his body tilted out of the way of this unexpected power.
*Shwoom*
The power from Reya’s ring spread out high above Muteki causing him to stall in the air. He looked up at the clouds above in both fear and wonderment.
The sky darkened rapidly for more than a mile and the clouds swirled like a whirlpool as they formed a shape in the sky.
Reya saw this and fell to one knee. A hand over her chest she saluted to the shape in the sky with a bit of panic.
The shape was only a hundred feet away from Muteki but he could feel an untold pressure surrounding his entirety, weighing on him. Muteki found it difficult to breathe and had to forcibly remind himself to inhale and exhale.
The clouds finally stopped moving for a moment and formed a large head. The lips from this face cloud thing parted slightly and spoke in fury.
“REYA! YOU HAVE FAILED ME!”
Each word stormed out and was followed by loud booming claps of thunder and sent a gale of wind rushing at both Muteki and Reya. The wind slammed into Muteki like a wall and he was flung backward. He had to use all of his power just to resist and stabilize himself.
Muteki subconsciously lowered his head and dared not look at this being and stayed as still as possible trying not to attract any attention whatsoever, lest he die for no reason.
(This power, I’ve never felt anything like it. This being, is it a god, is this a true deity?)
Reya quickly greeted Fera.
“Your Majesty I…”
Before she could finish a single sentence, Fera roared at her.
“SILENCE!”
*BOOM Crack!*
Thunder boomed in the sky and lightning snaked out hitting a nearby mountain. A huge deafening explosion occurred sending large chunks of solid rock several hundred feet into the air, sending meteors of rock and dust to rain down in the surrounding dozen miles. The aftershock alone pushed Muteki. Muteki could only resist the force and stay still as dozens of smaller rocks slammed into him, causing vicious injuries.
He had a groan of pain trying to make its way out of him but he forcibly swallowed it down along with a mouthful of blood. He could only remain perfectly still in the face of this otherwise who knew what would happen if he attracted Fera’s attention.
(This being’s strength, King Garn doesn’t compare at all. Reya works for this person and this person wants Kazuki. Once King Garn knows this, he can only give up.)
Reya bowed her head down and dared not speak without permission but hearing her queens words she was greatly confused. She had found Kazuki and would soon retrieve the compass from him and bring it back. She couldn’t help but think something was strange.
(I have failed? How?)
“You have not retrieved my compass and you’re even chasing a bug. WHY!?”
Reya shook but she slowly lifted her head.
“I…I am close. Kazuki is not far from here and…”
“DO YOU TAKE ME FOR A FOOL!?”
Reyas head fell once more.
“Never your majesty.”
“Never you say, and yet you still have not recovered my item. Tell me, do you know what has happened while you were chasing this flea?”
Reya hadn’t a clue, which infuriated Fera even more.
“Kazuki has done something. His power, his core, he somehow created a new one. I can feel it. Yet you waste time with a worm.”
Fera’s cloud eyes coldly swept over Muteki for but an instant before she continued.
“You waste time playing with someone who’s in the 3rd stage and you allow my brother to gain power. Tell me, someone who helps my enemy, are they not my enemy as well? Reya your little game of cat and mouse has allowed Kazuki to gain some ground. Tell me Reya, who are you loyal to?”
Reya took her head and slammed it three times into the ground, smashing the rocks beneath her. Dark purplish-black blood spilled from her forehead but she refused to seal the wound and heal herself. This was the only way she thought she could immediately show her loyalty.
“My queen, all that I am, all that I do, all of it is to serve only you. I would slay the world if you ordered me to or jump into boiling lava if you wish. Nothing is above you and everything is below. I am loyal only to you, now and forever.”
The face in the sky went silent for a moment and the thunder up above rumbled with a low purr as though it knew Fera was in deep thought. Slowly Fera’s lips parted.
“Not good enough. You have one chance. Go get my compass. If you fail this me again, simply kill yourself. I don’t have time to waste on dogs that can’t hunt successfully. GO!”
Reya’s heart jolted with fright and she felt cold deep inside. Still, she bowed.
“By your will my Queen.”
Reya turned around and raced toward Kazuki’s last known direction, completely ignoring Muteki’s presence.
Fera watched Reya for but a moment before thunder boomed once more and the cloud making up Fera dissipated. She as well completely ignored Muteki.
As the sky cleared and returned to normal and the dust settled around the mountain, Muteki was met with a terrible sight. The mountain that had been struck by Fera’s lightning…it had completely vanished and there was nothing left but a gaping mountain-sized hole in the ground.
Muteki finally spit up the blood he swallowed earlier and he fell out of the sky.
*Thud*
He was on all fours gasping for breath and squeezing at his chest as cold sweat poured from every part of his body and soaked him to the core.
He stayed like that for a few minutes until a cold wind blew past him and sent a frosted chill upon him. His sweat seemed like it would freeze at any moment snapping him back to reality.
(That monster was Fera. That was Kazuki’s sister, the one from his memories.)
Muteki took to the skies and raced out of the north, back to Tresta.
(I have to tell King Garn. He has to know, that Kazuki’s sister is a monster.)
Muteki looked back at the now empty spot where the mountain used to be and shook his head.
(No, she’s not a monster but a god.)
Muteki looked away from the mountain and continued toward Tresta at his fastest speed, completely forgetting Abura.
—————————————————————————-
Kazuki had just gained complete control over the Beast core and turned it into his new Mage core. Kazuki could already feel his body absorbing his three elements. Fire, earth, darkness, all three began to flood into him. With his Mage core restored, his body reentered the stage he had been at when he had his Mage core stolen. Kazuki was once more at the 3rd stage, the body stage. As the elements began to race into his Mage core, his body like Sam and the others began to strengthen.
He could feel his muscles strengthing at a rapid rate. His bones were increasingly becoming denser and his blood flowed rapidly. Every cell in his body was filled with energy and seemed to scream with joy. His senses increased severalfold and his entire being was upgrading all at once.
Abura who was still dragging Kazuki by the leg stopped out of nowhere and he became confused.
*Sniff Sniff*
Abura smelled the air curiously.
“There’s a strong smell of magic out of nowhere.”
Abura continued to sniff until he found it coming from behind him. He turned around but found Kazuki’s foot pull away. By the time he noticed what happened Kazuki was already standing in front of him. Kazuki’s nose was still bleeding from when Abura had hit him while he was still in his soul world. Kazuki wiped the blood from his face and looked at it for a moment before looking into Abura’s eyes.
“Your treatment has been very kind. Here, allow me to return the favor!”
